It was a remarkable experience. The place is beautiful. historic and spotless clean. There's a little park within the hotel property. Saumur is approximately 15 minutes close. Breakfast is great, outside, overlooking the Loire on a sunny day. Dinner experience is amazing, for a high-end dinner aprox 200 euro a couple.

I understand that this is a monument but please be aware that there's no lift, airco or pool (which is strange because the property is big and a pool could be built say, along with the mini golf or tennis court). Our visit being in June, we had to sleep with the windows open to survive the heat. If you do the same, ⚠️ TURN OUT THE LIGHTS before you go to sleep; otherwise, you will be invaded by a swarm of insects. I warned you, as nobody warned me. ⚠️ Another thing: though the staff is really great, if I was management, I would see that they are easily visible at breakfast time in case clients need something or food runs short. We had to knock the door and make them notice, this is not really what you expect about such a high-quality place.

My sister (Brigid), cousin (Andy) and I (Teresa) loved the Chateau with its antique interior decor and artwork. We also loved your wonderful restaurant and balconies with breath-taking river views. Also, at the restaurant we experienced 5Star gastromic canopes, an amazing dinner and desserts. Thank you to your Chef and Cuisine Staff for that. Your professional wait staff - Nada, Bastion and Florian were exceptional, friendly and helped to make a very pleasant evening for us. Thank you to them. Elise and Coralie on Reception were professional, friendly and assisted with all our enquiries. Elise was very helpful in offering advice on places to see in the area which proved most interesting. Especially the Doue du Fontaine - Mysteres des Faluns. Thank you Elise and Coralie. On the whole, our stay experience at the Chateau Le Prieure will be remembered forever. The only thing we could see that needs attention is your hotel signage. On arrival at the property, we could see the sign on the entry gate. But we were perplexed on where to go to your reception after that as there was a fork in the road of the Grounds. Your reception sign had an arrow pointing downward. So, we drove down the hill and ended up in the village. Only to discover we made a happy accident. But then had to turn around and go back into the property and stopped at the Glass Doors to find our entry to the Chateau.

We truly enjoyed this hotel and any negative comments are strictly to underline the need for minor improvements which is part of any successful business. What calm! Comfy - dare I say luxurious beds - and the view over the Loire - it cannot be beat! Lovely lounge over the Loire ( should be marketed more) and what looked like a superb dinner in the restaurant over the Loire. Superb breakfast over the Loire! See any repetition here? Over the Loire! This is the ONLY hotel of its caliber that owns such a delicious position OVER THE LOIRE! You will not regret a stay here.

Cheap painting reproductions of French royalty throughout the hotel - garish! Room carpet and decor in colors that remind one of cheap Mexican....more subtle colors on the next update please.

Breakfast and dinner were very good, great location although the small roads up to the hotel are 'interesting'. The staff were lovely and very accommodating, speaking good English and also adapting to our fractured French speaking !

The hotel is old and to be honest could do with some updates, we had a lovely room bu the bathroom was quite tired. No aircon, and when the temperature is in the 35C and only one of the room windows opens this was a little challenging. Maybe a portable zircon unit would have made things a bit easier !

Lovely views over the Loire river and helpful staff who provided good restaurant recommendations (as the restaurant at the hotel was closed). They also catered for my wife who is gluten free which was appreciated. Breakfast on the terrace was a great way to start the day.

It was hot in the rooms after you were out for the day mbut you could open the windows which helped in the evenings.

Everything just from the start especially check in smooth and gentle check in. The room was amazing and clean and comfortable. The location is ideally set right on the slopes over Loire with magnificent views for sunset especially. Visited this property 18 years ago and it is still in perfect condition and great management.

The dinner experience could be a slightly better. The wine selection by glasses in the restaurant is disappointing and the bar experience was bad.

An exceptionally comfortable bed High quality and plentiful breakfast on the terrace overlooking the Loire The location - in a quiet spot away from busy towns but within easy reach of all the chateaux of the Loire Valley Very helpful and friendly staff

We had booked a traditional room on the terrace but we discovered that the hotel Wi-Fi did not reach the room and we had no internet access. The receptionist however was very helpful and provided us with a different room nearer the main building, which also happened to be an upgrade. It was a much nicer room, bigger and with a bigger bed as well as internet access. We would not recommend the traditional room - it is worth paying the extra.

We had a wonderful 2 night stay. Accomodations were excellent, w large rooms and balcony to wonderful views. Food (Dinner and breakfast) were excellent, and the dinner wait staff was very conscientious and attentive. Very friendly staff. We had one dinner at A Contre-Courant-a variety of meals served w a Caribbean flair and rum flavors to taste if so inclined. The owner was extremely nice and friendly. Overall had a great experience.

The breakfast (brunch !) was excellent. Plenty of choice - hot and cold food. Decent coffee machine. Taken on the terrace despite slightly grey morning.

The restaurant isn't open on Mondays (the day we stayed) but the lovely family run restaurant, Le Carahutta, is a 10 minute walk away, alongside the mighty Loire river. One of my best ever steaks in France !

The historical charm of a traditional French chateau and the location with lovely views over the river from our room. Staff were very attentive and friendly. A great spot to explore the Saumur area.

Breakfast was a little expensive. Bathroom was a little dated but functional. Our room was noisy from the room above.
