After originally booking Maison de Gaspard which was not for a family of 4 people we were so happy to find Les Terraces de Saumur! Comfortable beds, great staff, and delicious meal!! (The 'doubles' are larger than a Queen in the U.S. We are used to a King and the size was fine. We got 2 rooms since kids had to share a double bed, too.) I didn't expect such a good meal at a hotel, but of course it is France! Huge spread for breakfast and although I am wary of machines that make coffee the ones they have actually make a very good cappuccino. Perfect stay. Responsive staff. Very happy. Pool is nice and heated. TIP: if you are in Saumur Sunday and Monday pay for the meals at the hotel because we found out that all restaurants/cafes, etc are closed and only serve drinks on these days.

The staff were very helpful, especially in the restaurant recommending food on the menu to accommodate my husband's allergy. The location was great with amazing views. Nice to have the pool as it was very hot.

The outside area could do with refurbishing, especially the furniture and decking. It was rough around the pool and had no hand rails by the steps to get in and out of the pool safely.

Clean, generous, roomy, functional, all the essentials, comfortable beds. We booked a value hotel because of the dog so didn't expect much, this is not a fluffy towel, luxury hotel the room felt slightly basic on entry but the fact was the room had everything we needed and more. The bed was exceptionally comfortable with deliciously soft pillows. The room was huge with doors to a little private terrace and importantly we were able to black out the light at night with the shutters. It had been cleaned very thoroughly - essential when dogs stay. Nice hot shower and a good size bathroom. Little kitchenette in the corner was really well equipped. Also not far to walk from the parking. WiFi was excellent and connects instantly all round the hotel. The pool was great. Then there was dinner. THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT. Dinner was taken on a little terrace not far from the pool, with a beautiful view of the city, attentive waiters, fresh, classic French food, followed by a stroll around the pretty rural surroundings.

The few bad reviews are bewildering, which hotel did they go to???

We liked being able to drive up and park easily. the gardens and terraces are lovely and it was great to be able to relax by the pool after a long hot drive. Beautiful terrace bar and restaurant and our studio room was spacious, airy and comfortable. Great beds and nice little outside seating area. Nice views across the vines and over Saumur. Good reception staff. Nice food in the restaurant.

breakfast was ok, just average and overpriced (Euro 25 p.p.) for the range and quality. The restaurant was excellent with very good food, however most of our choices (wine and menu) were unavailable so that we were 'upsold' on everything and ended up spending more than we would have wished for an overnight stop.

The studio rooms with view and terrace were well equipped very spacious clean modern and fresh. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was superb. The pool was great

The gardens needed tidying up We didn’t know that you had to book the sauna hammam and jacuzzi at an extra cost of €25 per person per hour. It would have been better to have been able to book each separately for a Lesser cost and as a group.

Nice little holiday village with a decent restaurant and fabulous views. My room was clean and functional and had a very comfortable bed with great pillows and aircon. However, it was the lovely staff who made it such a pleasure to stay there. They were friendly and helpful and incredibly kind when my car broke down (terminally!) and I was very stressed about trying to get home without it. I hope very much to come back and stay again.

Breakfast was great the scrambled egg and sweet loaves 👌👌. We also ate in the restaurant for an evening meal and the food was fantastic! Swimming pool also very nice and room was spotless. Location not within walking distance to much but if you have a car/bike would def stay here again!!

Boutique feel, only slightly more expensive than chain hotels but 100% more charm. Pool/dining layout fantastic, great views from the terraces. Great room which felt more like an apartment than a hotel room, two balconies, air conditioning and window shutters all welcome additions. Fab individual decor.

For the fee paid nothing at all

The space was excellent. Large bedroom, good size sitting room and small kitchen, plus a large wooden decked terrace which was perfect for dining on as the sun set. Very quiet. The pool area was beautiful, clean with lovely view over the city to the chateau.

Positioned on the outskirts of Saumur with no other bars or restaurants in the area. A good posion though for exploring by car

Room was beautiful, super shower and comfy bed. View was spectacular. Staff were lovely and dinner was really very good.

Felt the breakfast needed help. Breakfast scrambled eggs were always cold! despite being there at 0830 a lot of food wasn't topped up, bit of a bun fight, and toaster took forever!
