Beautiful peaceful location out of town, beside the highest village in Sri Lanka. Surrounded by tea plantations and other small cultivations, and inside the grounds is a perfectly tended garden and very professional welcome from the small team. Short walks available to a viewpoint amongst the tea. Room and bathroom both spacious and as in the photos. Dinner and breakfast both delicious. The banana bread in particular! No problem to order us a taxi to go to the station the next morning too. More expensive than the average accommodation, but certainly value for money compared to other similar high-end “boutique” accommodations in Sri Lanka (which can start at $900 per night - and I’m not sure the extra butler would be worth the difference!)

- Very nice location and good if you want to have complete calmness and quietness. - There are some activities on site, which you can do, e.g. badminton, chessboard, walking around in the tea plants. It’s a bit away from the city centre but we did not mind this. - It’s a rather small hotel with only few rooms. If you prefer to stay more anonymous during your stay, it might not be the right thing for you as the staff is very attentive at all times and tries to give you a very individual treatment.

- The food (we booked half-board) was very good but in comparison to other locations in Sri Lanka a bit pricey.

A big thank you to all the staff who was really attentive from the beginning to the very end. We really appreciated whole team including the chef because the food was really good and diversified. Dinner and breakfast package, top! The room was really nice and clean, maybe the bed was not the most comfortable but everything else was great. The place is really cute next to the tea plantation over the city, the garden is really beautiful.

It's not really from the hôtel but on our 3rd night a bunch of dogs were barking and playing in the garden at 2am... It was not every night but when you come to a place for vacation you're looking for rest and a good sleep. Maybe the fence should be closed where it's still possible for the dogs to enter the premises.

We stayed at this hotel for just two nights. As our stay was during low season, we (4 adults + 1 child) had the hotel to ourselves. The location of the hotel, although a little distance from the town centre, was superb. The staff (especially, Budhika, the Duty Manager) were exceptionally friendly and helpful - nothing was too much. The hotel was clean and the rooms were very comfortable. The food was of a high standard and, again, the Duty Chef was more than happy to meet our requests. We would highly recommend this 7 room boutique hotel.

This is a gem in Nuwara Eliya. Small hotel which gives you a « home feeling». We were here for two nights and had a great experience! The surroundings are so beautiful, you can walk up to the tea plantations. We asked to have breakfast outside both days and it was really nice. The room and the bqthroom is spacious, beautifully decorated, The food is very good! And the staff is very polite and nice. I would highly recommend this place and definately come back. Not walkable distance to the city- which we knew, we had a car, and also used uber/pickme when we needed.

Some of the stray dogs from the nearby areas were barking in the middle of the night on our first day, but not the second day- i guess that is not something the hotel can control. But it didnt ruin our stay!

Oliphant is located in the highest tea plantation in Sri Lanka. The hotel is an old colonial building used by the tea plantation and beautifully converted and preserved. We had a large bedroom and bathroom, beautifully furnished with a four poster and all comforts. It really felt like home from home. The location is spectacular. We had a couple of walks up the hillside through the tea plantations, and there are great views. It gets chilly at night, as it's so high, so take a layer (there are also heaters in the bedroom). In the daytime the sky was a brilliant blue. The staff were delightful and very attentive. The food (dinner and breakfast) was very high quality. They have a wonderful chef, who makes everything from scratch, including breakfast jams. I totally recommend their Sri Lankan curry for dinner. It was the best we had in Sri Lanka, delicate and full of flavour. Just be aware that it's freshly cooked so you need to give an hour's notice when ordering. We only stayed one night on our way to Yala, we would definitely stay for longer next time. Memorable and authentic, thank you to the staff!

We stayed here a week ago and it left us heartfelt. I can say it was one of the best stays I have had. We arrived around midnight and once we reached they didn’t even feel exhausted to treat us. The hospitality was great, they helped us with everything and the chef did a great job. We loved the food a lot, it felt like home and the brownie he made left me speechless. And there’s a 2km walk up in the tea estate of the hotel where the view is amazing. I would strongly recommend it if you guys come to Nuwara Eliya :).

Wonderful big and cozy rooms. Perfect light concept and high class furniture. Operating since 2017, so all still looks very fresh and inviting in English country style design with modern touch. In short it was perfect. Lakshman and his team were so friendly and give high class service. Exceeded all expectations. 12 points out of 10. Dinner and breakfast were top. Opening the windows for fresh air in the morning - super, after the heat in the cultural triangle. For once you appreciate the heater instead of aircon. Tea plantations walk behind the house is unforgettable. Oliphant is a place you don’t want to leave. Two nights stay recommended. Very quiet location in a gardenstyle setting. 7 rooms.
