The view from and comfort of the room was very acceptable - The breakfast offer was very extensive - we chose to take our dinners in the alternative restaurant and bar sackville where all the staff made us extremely welcome and in particular I would thank Dasun, who went above and beyond every time.

We found the front desk staff quite unwelcoming and in particular one lady who was not a good ambassador for the hotel - First impressions are fundamental in any industry particularly in hospitality - Had our cancellation time line not exceeded we would have left the hotel and checked in at another hotel - further training required. Fortunately the food and beverage out weighed our first impression and left us with a more positive opinion of the hotel -

We went for half board which was perfect for us as wanted to explore Nuwara Elia during the day and then relax in the evening. The choice at breakfast and dinner was incredible (and maybe a bit overwhelming!) We stuck to local foods which were all delicious, but you can find anything for any taste and dietary requirement at this place. The a la carte restaurant was fine, but not amazing. Swimming pool was exceptional and excellent cocktails served at the rooftop bar. The staff were incredibly accommodating. There was an issue with our balcony hottub working, but it was fixed within 20 minutes.

We stayed at The Golden Ridge Hotel in Nuwara Eliya this February and had a wonderful experience overall. We booked two double rooms for a family stay and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The location is fantastic—peaceful, scenic, and a perfect base for exploring the beauty of Nuwara Eliya. The surroundings were serene and beautifully maintained, adding to the relaxing atmosphere. What truly stood out was the staff. Everyone we interacted with was exceptionally friendly and helpful, going out of their way to make our stay comfortable. The food was another highlight—there was a great variety of options, and everything we tried was delicious and well-prepared. A couple of areas could use some improvement. The spa is run by an external vendor, which made booking treatments a bit tricky during our stay. Additionally, we noticed the rooms could benefit from better soundproofing, especially for a hotel of this standard. Despite these minor drawbacks, we had a very pleasant stay and would definitely recommend The Golden Ridge Hotel to anyone visiting Nuwara Eliya.

We treated ourselves to a room with the hot tub and which was a great! Nuwara Eliya really is a little England and was a little chilly so sitting in the hot tub in the evening was perfect.

We didn’t go all inclusive but we arrived late and thought we would have a quick bite to eat, we went down to all inclusive as it was getting late and we didn’t want to eat too late and spoil tea. We made a mistake in not asking for the price before we started eating. With food prices everywhere else in Sri Lanka being reasonable we weren’t expecting £50 for a chicken salad and a small plate of food for my husband. We kind of laughed this off as it was our mistake but still the price is expensive (for Sri Lanka). Not sure if they charged us for a whole day of all inclusive or just one meal but we ordered room service in the evening and this was a lot cheaper!

The location is slightly away from town but easily accessible by walking or tuk-tuk. the views from our hotel room were stunning! The property itself has a lot to offer, with two different restaurants and a beautiful garden at the top of the hill where it is situated. The staff were incredibly nice, and the breakfast was exceptional. We opted for a massage at the wellness center, and it was a 10/10! The ladies there are lovely and highly skilled. I highly recommend getting a treatment—it’s the perfect cherry on top

Hair dryer didn’t work in our room, it’s ok since we had our own but it didn’t look of the best quality. A very minor issue though!

Almost everything! I planned a surprise birthday celebration for my husband, just with a short notice they arranged everything perfectly! More than I have expected. Miss Dilu , being so kind and exceptionally nice to us . She managed to get everything in order to make our stay memorable. We enjoyed the breathtaking view and delicious food. Buffet had a great variety of food. Swimming pool is amazing, they have a nice warm indoor pool . Staff is very professional and friendly. We definitely recommend this amazing place to everyone who likes to have a wonderful holiday experience ❤️

Lovely stay at the Golden Ridge. All the staff are amazing. Dilu in particular was so warm and friendly and could not do enough for us to ensure we were well taken care off. The Spa is outsourced to a third party and was the only part of the stay that needed improvement. The jacuzzi and sauna was not working. No hairdryers or toiletries provided. The male masseur made up for it and he is probably one of the best therapists I have ever had. All in all, it was a beautiful one night stay on the way to Ella. Highly recommend this hotel.

Brilliant selection of food that varied daily. The grounds are SENSATIONAL - my goodness they absolutely make the stay! Attentive staff. We often had the rooftop bar to ourselves all morning to be in the sun. The pool could be busy, but often we had it to ourselves. There’s plenty to do in town and the hotel provides complimentary driver’s accommodation too which is brilliant. Lovely little leaving treats too when we checked out which was a nice touch.

This property DOES NOT have aircon despite it being in my filters when hotel searching and in my booking.com room amenities. The temperature does drop in the evening (April), but aircon would be an improvement. The old part of the hotel is a stark different to the modern build, but we were satisfied with the room.

We stayed in the Mountain View Suite which was absolutely fantastic with a beautiful view from the balcony and wonderful spa bath. The room was exceptionally clean and very spacious.

Food and drinks from the hotel were expensive and the menu at the hotel restaurant was limited to only traditional ‘English’ meals (e.g. fish and chips). Staff at the front desk were not at all interested in helping us to book a taxi, simply suggesting we use Pick Me (which is notoriously unreliable and actually led to us being abandoned halfway through our journey).
