This accommodation was fabulous. Very peaceful, the cottage is directly overlooking the Derwent River, with lots of birdlife and seats down on the bank of the river to soak up the serenity! It is beautifully decorated, comfortable bed, lovely modern bathroom with a big bath and a fully equipped kitchen too. Couldn't fault it, the hosts were friendly, and even let us use their dryer to get clothes dry before moving on. Probably not the place to stay if you are relying on public transport, as you are a little out of town, but it was only a short drive to cross the river and you were in the CBD in about ten minutes. Highly recommend.

Outstanding quality modern self-contained cottage accommodation with the best uninterrupted river and mountain views. Absolutely stunning. We've stayed here twice and would always recommend as the nicest, best value stay in this location. Includes full kitchen, lounge, big bathroom with huge deep bath, washing machine, DVD player etc. There's no nearby traffic so very quiet and peaceful. Did I mention the views are wonderful? 😃 Highly recommended. Fantastic, relaxing, great value for money. Hosts are friendly but unobtrusive. Couldn't stop taking photos of the stunning views, especially as the lighting changed with sunrise, sunset, clouds, and visiting wildlife (birds and wild hares). This was our second stay in 5 years and it was just what we needed after 12 weeks on the road before moving into our nearby Tassie retirement home.

This was our second stay at Otago Cottage. We have returned and will be returnin again on March due to its private location, peaceful settings, view and only 15 mins drive to Hobart. That's the only key consideration with regards to its location as you must have a car.

There's nothing I didn't like. I only observed nice little touches that were missing compared to the first time we stayed w.g.,, welcome chocolates, breakfast provisions like eggs and bread, which we didn't get this time. I later found out that it's under new management which may explain why.

This cottage is in a lovely situation right by the waters edge with plenty of wildlife and birds to look at. A really nice place to relax and a good base to explore the area. It is outside the main city area but this is quite close by car. There are two attached cottages and we stayed in the larger one which has plenty of space to spread out. It was very clean and comfortable and with a car it is a good value option to stay in Hobart. We would definitely return :)

The place had a good energy and vibes. It was quiet and peaceful and had good views of the hills and river. The place had a miniature park with birds, rabbits and hares moving around feely. The host Karen gave me a lift on my arrival to do the grocery shopping.

It was bit far away from the city and there was no shops nearby. So if you don’t have a car it costs too much having to take Uber to the city and back. I felt literally chased out on my check out day

The location was great and so very quiet. The layout of home was good. Breakfast provisions were excellent. Watching the river and the wildlife was a bonus.

The kitchen wasn't well equipped in terms of cooking equipment. Some oven trays would be useful. The oven was not working properly but I advised the owner and they did apologise. Surely functionality of appliances should be checked regularly.

The cottage was beautifully positioned on the banks of the River Derwent, overlooking Hobart. We could watch the sunrise each morning lighting up the mountains across the river. It was very peaceful and relaxing. Great waking up to that country atmosphere each day. Native hens, rabbits and ducks wandered around the extensive grounds.

The view was just amazing. And also Karen and Tim were very friendly. They had the fridge stocked up with eggs, milk, bread, jam, butter, bacon, etc. for our breakfast on the 1st day. The property was very clean, spacious and the kitchen had all the utensils you would need. The property was located on a quiet street but with easy access to the city and highways. Throughly enjoyed our stay and we would highly recommend Otago Cottage to anyone. Thank you!

What a great find, such a beautiful place, enjoying views of the river and wildlife. The place was as advertised, idyllic and peaceful. Facilities were good and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We had a small issue getting to use the BBQ but Karen was quick to respond and we found a satisfactory solution.

This place is absolutely lovely! 15mins drive from Hobart central and carpark just next to the house, very quiet and peaceful with a sea view right in front. It is very well equipped as well. You can feel lots of cares from the hosts by all the details in the house which brings you a wonderful experience on top of the trip. Strongly recommended!
