I stayed at this motel a year ago, so this is a second review. This time the room I had was further away from the outside access-door, so things were quieter. As I said before ... The room was clean, good-sized with a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and TV. The guest toothbrush and toothpaste are still a nice bathroom touch. With the curtains drawn, the room was adequately dark. Breakfast was included, and there was a decent selection of food available. Overall, it remains a good value.

You can still definitely hear it when the water is turned on in a nearby room.

The room was absolutely spotless. The cleaning staff is A-1. The receptionists are also A-1. I love the downstairs rooms with the sliding glass doors that open directly to your parking spot.

The location, while being very convenient, is in a very rough part of town. There is no getting around that. Barstow is rough. Lenwood isn’t any better. I appreciate that the California Inn has many security cameras and 24 hour surveillance.

The breakfast station was set up great. Did not have to go anywhere else for breakfast. Enjoyed the cleanliness and customer demand service of the staffing was friendly and helpful. The room was to my liking and enjoyed the balcony at nights.

I was on the 2nd floor. It would have been nice if there was an elevator. Took time going up and down the stairs with the amount of luggage my family and I had.

Breakfast was actually pretty good, nice breakfast room, omelettes with vegetables in them, as well as scrambled eggs, sausages, make-your-own waffles, more. Best to get there before 8 to avoid the rush. Nice desert view past the pool from our back door and window. Helpful pleasant staff.

Keys did not work well in outside door to our building. Neighborhood a little bleak to walk around in, but maybe that’s just what Barstow is like(?), we went for a walk to get some exercise but I don’t recommend it, bleak with few and rather down-and-out people on the street. Only happening business was a dollar store across and up the street. Quiet, though, aside from traffic which was not audible from the hotel itself since it’s set well back from the main drag.

My stay at California Inn Barstow was unexpectedly delightful, especially after a booking blunder on my part regarding the arrival date. The staff graciously made an exception, showcasing their commitment to guest satisfaction. The inn stands out for its comfort, exceptional value, and genuine pet friendliness. My room provided the cozy retreat I needed, complete with a comfortable bed and cleanliness that exceeded my expectations. For travelers seeking a budget-friendly, welcoming place to stay with their furry friends, California Inn Barstow is a gem in the desert. Highly recommended for a restful experience.

Clean, large bed and had a pool with loungers which was kept nice, we went back and stayed a second time on our trip as hotel was nice, staff lovely

For room privacy have upstairs room as No privacy curtains, you had to keep actual curtains closed and have a dark room and put lights on if you wanted to be in room down stairs, Breakfast was plastic knives and forks and throw away bowls and plates, cooked food was OK. Unfortunately there are no good restaurants in area just fast food

Liked the breakfast. Coffee was hot and drinkable. ;) The room was nice and comfortable. Very clean and cozy. Walking distance to several eateries and Dollar Store in case you've forgotten something. *

Just would have liked more than 3 pillows for 2 people...and it took quite a while for the hot water to make it from the hot water heater to the shower which meant we wasted water. 😞 ( Perhaps a "tankless" hwh could be a solution.)

Pet friendly, for an extra 16$ or so. Nice staff. Bed was comfy, room quiet. Breakfast was typical, with enough options. I would go back. Nice pet area. It was nice to have a sliding door to the car area, but secure interior door as well. Good Italian food across the street (closes at 8). Easy access to gas, snacks and the highway.

There was an odd man wandering around, hanging out- likely without a home, but the staff seemed to get him to move on. That part of barstow does not seem super safe, but we had no issues. I would not want to go out alone at night.

We booked this as a stopover from San Diego to Las Vegas, a little gem of a place. Great staff if you needed anything. Superb room and facilities, breakfast was included and although it was a busy breakfast room, we were never short of something to eat. We absolutely loved the pool area as it was spacious and very clean and never as busy that you could not get a lounger. Plenty of places to eat within walking distance. Excellent value for money. We would certainly not hesitate in recommending this property and would definitely stay here again, absolutely loved it.

We had no negative experiences at the California Inn to speak of, all was really good.

Check in was fast & the clerk was friendly. The room was nice & clean. The bed was comfortable. The wifi was good & hooked up easily. The shower pressure was good. Breakfast had more variety than I was expecting. It was a good place to spend the night. I would stay here again if passing through the area.

The shower was very loud. You couldn’t hear the tv if the shower was being used.
