A beautiful and well kept little inn in the center of Tavistock. Staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. Nothing felt like too much trouble. The breakfast was outstanding and of a really high quality. The rooms where gorgeous. A full tea set, kettle, coffee maker and etc where all included in the room. The beds are comfortable and have plenty of blanket and pillow options to suit all needs. As well as some welcome flapjacks to go with them. The place had character and charm and I will be back very soon.
There is nothing to dislike. You were made to feel really welcomed. Everything was spotlessly clean. Possibly the cleanest hotel bathroom i have ever found. I really could not find a single flaw and I did look. I thought it would possibly be loud at night with it being above the pub but it was not! So peaceful and warm and friendly and really just an amazing little family bussiness.

Comfortable, lovely staff, excellent food, Also ate in sister pub a few miles away, pub prices but standard way above your usual pub food. We shall definitely stay again as it’s good value
Shower door narrow in Toad room, Pheasant room noisy as on front of hotel. Would have liked to eat in hotel more than 1 night but their meals are Michelin standard so not light meals. We would have preferred a choice of bread not just sourdough at breakfast, also personally none of us we weren’t keen on the bacon but that’s because we prefer a very lean meat. Minor personal choice problems!!

We had an amazing time in Cornish Arms – we stayed just for one night as part of our hiking trip, but we wished we could have stayed longer. The staff was helpful and very nice and friendly; our room was lovely, very clean, and well-equipped, and the food we had was absolutely great! Both the dinner we had in the evening and the breakfast were amazing. We don't remember when we enjoyed a meal so much. Thank you!
It's absolutely understandable that rooms need to be cleaned – and that this needs to be done asap. But since the check-out is at 11am (and breakfast is served until 10am), we felt that it was rather unnecessary that staff started cleaning rooms around us quite loudly around 8 am. We didn't want to sleep until very late anyway (8.30), but this woke us up even earlier, and it made the morning feel rushed as there was a vacuum cleaner in front of our room since 9am, etc. But this is just a minor thing, really; we had a great time anyway!

Friendly welcome, and staff all engaged but a bit disorganised at checking-in. Excellent breakfast, although service a bit slow. Evening menu looked a bit over-fancy and expensive-so much so that we decided not to eat in. We are foodies, but felt that the menu didn't really cater to those looking for good , traditional food. Maybe we should have tried, but the prices were high for a 'gamble'. Comfortable bed, strong shower, although would have expected some form of air-con or climate control for the price-point.

Excellent hotel in the heart of Tavistock. Great restaurant and menu. The street can be noisy on weekends but quiet otherwise. We were not disturbed. Private parking was most welcome. Great access for Dartmoor.
Very little. We stayed on a baank holiday weekend and had a room at the front. There was a lot of unpleasant rowdieness on Saturday night in the street into the early hours but nothing to do wth the hotel. When we revisit we will request a back room but the Cornsh Arms is our choice for our return visits.

Staff were very friendly and our room was clean and comfortable with tea and coffee provided and some lovely homemade fruit flapjack. We had a lovely cooked breakfast the following morning.
The shower sprays water out into the room and then collected by the door despite having a shower mat down. We had asked for secure parking for our bikes, but found out this was not an allocated space but in their food storage area. Also, evening food over priced, nearly £6 for a small dish of peas !!!

Friendly, helpful staff and a generally nice room with a couple of small bits that needed fixing. I didn't have dinner in the pub but I can see why it is 2nd on a top 50 list of UK Gastro pubs. My breakfast was stunningly good with excellent ingredients and equally good service.
Minor niggles with the bathroom in that The blinds didn't raise evenly and then wouldn't stay open so that it was darker than I would have liked. The shower head was also leaking due to a missing washer but I know that the staff were planning to correct it as soon as I checked out.

The room was decorated to a very high standard. Excellent shower, breakfast was of a very high standard. Loads of space to park. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Great location to explore Dartmoor.
There were no tea bags in the room when we arrived, we had to ask for more toilet roll because there was only one in the room, the room was very warm, for the price we paid I would expect a fan in the room as there was no air conditioning. It was difficult to keep the window open because we were on the street and the cars kept us awake.

It’s a property with a huge amount of character. Each room has its own theme and is unique. Facilities within the room were superb and they even provided fresh milk for tea and coffee. It felt like the place had recently been decorated as everything was fresh, but in keeping with the property. Unfortunately, I didn’t book a meal for the evening, but if I stay again, I definitely will, but breakfast was wonderful. We are already planning to visit again and would love to stay in the main suite as it looks amazing.
I have nothing I can add to this as the property was so good.

Absolutely stunning! Really beautiful building, lots of character and attention to detail in the decor was really spot on.
The only negative is the noise outside! They do provide earplugs but this did make for a disturbed nights sleep as the windows are old fashioned. If you want a quiet nights sleep avoid booking over a weekend, the noise from street revellers went on well into the early hours of the morning.
