Tavistock is a very picturesque market town, and everything is within walking distance from the hotel. Check out the Tavistock Pannier Market, it has a great atmosphere with lots of local artisans selling their crafts. The restaurant in the hotel was a nice surprise, there are unique creations on the menu that are artfully prepared.

Unless I missed something, there is one single elevator that only services from the parking level to the ground floor of the hotel, and it is reserved for those with mobility issues. If you are staying on an upper floor, you will have to carry your bags up the stairs. Not an easy task, even for an able-bodied person. The room was very small, with no AC, only a large fan.

A lovely hotel located in the centre of Tavistock. Easy to get to and onsite parking although it did fill up quickly. We had a lovely clean room on same level as reception, so if you need it, it could be an accessible option. Shower huge, lovely toiletries provided and nice fluffy towels. Nice welcome tray although hot chocolate sachets only given on first day. Staff are amazing, friendly, polite and welcoming.

Now have to pay for parking if you book through booking.com Breakfast not great, not a huge choice on the buffet, £4 extra for eggs royale (not sure why it's the same price as a cooked breakfast elsewhere) and cooked breakfast small for example half a slice of black pudding?? Poached eggs solid. For the £17 that's charged for a breakfast it's not good value. Awoken at 5:45 am by the bin lorry beeping, crashing and banging the bins right outside our window, no care or awareness people would be asleep, surely they should arrive later than this.

The place has a wonderful atmosphere, comfortable interiors and a great location. Pictures, photographs and grandfather clocks abound (the latter whilst mostly working do not thankfully chime !). The staff were very helpful and friendly. The kitchen staff in particular were able and willing to amend the sauces and serving with a particular dish due to my food allergy. Tavistock is a great location whether you want the Moors, the coast or the many historic sites nearby - including our favourite National Trust house (Cotehele).

Discovering the onsite car park fees (£8/day). It must have been in the info, but I failed to spot it.

Fabulous staff typical old fashioned quaint English hotel no frills. Good value as in the main Tavistock square . We had supper the first evening excellent steak for my partner and the catch of the day were presented so well and tasted first class, drinks list and wine also very reasonably priced.All the hotel employees were so friendly and informative if asked a question. It’s a great place to visit.

A more power full shower as we had a bath with over shower unit a power shower would have better for us.

From the moment we arrived the staff could not do more to help. A spectacular building that has been extremely well maintained. Room was spacious, bed comfortable and bathroom fantastic with a great shower area. Breakfast and drinks during the day served with a smile. Nice seating areas throughout. Car Park another bonus. Great position to explore Tavistock.

We were woken circa 530am by bottles being collected. Disturbed our sleep which was dissapointing. Flagged to reception so hope it was followed up. Evening meal was dissapointing. Crab starter, Lamb curry and Chicken on pitta main all fell short and were left. Surprised returned food not queried. But must say breakfast was complete opposite with choice and great quality offerings. So felt may have been unlucky with evening meal.

The hotel is in a great location for Tavistock town. It's a beautiful building and full of character. The brother and sister in the restaurant were very polite and friendly , there was an ambience lacking in there and a bit chilly! Breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious. Nice areas to sit and have a drink before dinner.

The bed was barely bigger than a single, we now know to book king-size at this hotel, because it's a traditional bed. The room was tired, the shower door over the bath was broken and the wardrobe door kept opening. Minor issues really.

The staff were very helpful and resolved the issue with room allocation (we booked a superior room, and the one allocated to us was very different from the description on the Booking.com) quickly. The hotel is in a central location. The food was good quality.

It is unusual to impose surcharge on an included breakfast. It is also unusual to serve half of a mushroom and half a slice of black pudding - the saving could not have been great but so was the impression as a result.

The room we transferred to was excellent and the receptionist and cleaning team were very efficient in assisting our transfer. The breakfast menu provided a good selection and the food was always cooked to our requirements. The bar was well stocked catering for all our needs. The hotel location in the centre of Tavistock was excellent with good car parking facilities

We booked a quiet room which was located on the top floor away from noise from other residents. However the weather was hot so we needeed to keep the windows open which meant the noise from the roof mounted air conditioning units below was unacceptable. As stated above the staff were excellent in facilitating our transfer to a room on the opposite side of the corridor which was excellent.

Good hotel, comfortable, friendly staff and excellent location. We have been several times before and will go again. We didn't dine there, so I can't comment on the food. The breakfast was good and served in a pleasant room.

The bed was an Ikea like four poster and one of the posts was in direct line of the TV making viewing difficult. However, this wasn't a great problem because we don't go on holiday to watch TV.

The location - situated practically in the middle of the town. Inside, the room was spacious and the breakfast selection excellent. An odd, but not unpleasant choice of background music in the restaurant at breakfast was pop-reggae (think Bob Marley etc.). Staff were attentive, polite and reserved, as expected in a hotel of this calibre; there was a rather old-world ambiance, reflected in many of the other guests...

A down side in the summer was the room was quite warm - it faced west and caught the afternoon sun. In the morning, although the curtains were opaque, they were also rather short and allowed daylight to reflect into the room off the white floor. This made the room rather too bright at an early hour. Although not facing directly the main road, traffic was audible until quite late - yes, even Tavistock seems to have revellers.
