We had a wonderful two-day stay at Convento San Bartolomeo—a truly one-of-a-kind experience. The service was exceptional from start to finish. One of the owners gave us a personal tour of the property, sharing its rich and fascinating history, which became one of the highlights of our visit. Our room was incredibly spacious—we stayed in a beautifully appointed two-bedroom, two-bath suite with a separate living room. It was perfect for relaxing and felt like a home away from home. The property itself is absolutely stunning—perched on a mountainside with sweeping views of Tuscany. The pool and hot tub overlook the landscape, making it a perfect spot to unwind. The interiors throughout the hotel are tastefully designed, full of thoughtful details and charming décor that reflect the building’s heritage. We also appreciated the convenience of having a grocery store just next door. Everything about our stay felt warm, special, and memorable. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and peaceful Tuscan retreat.

This was one of our favorite places we have ever stayed and we love to travel all over the world! The staff here made our time really exceptional. The service could not have been better from the bartender, to the concierge, to the cook, to the cleaning ladies. We opted to eat here for all 3 nights and the four course dinners were way better than we could have thought. The bar drinks were reasonably priced. You cannot beat the view from the hot tub and pool over looking the valley. We took the tour with the owner in the morning and we are glad we did there is so much history to this place. I cannot say enough good things about our experience here. We loved this place so much that we are hoping to return for our wedding in a few years.

From the moment I stepped in, I couldn’t stop saying “Wow!”—what an amazing place! Staying in a monastery with incredibly thick walls was a first-time experience for me. We were given a spacious suite with classic and elegant furniture. The wooden doors and windows, along with their vintage opening mechanisms, made me feel like I had traveled back in time while sitting in the cozy armchair. The staff was very friendly. Although the one who welcomed us didn’t speak English, he was kind and patient, using a translator to communicate and even helping us book a fantastic nearby restaurant. Breakfast was great—you choose your meal the day before, and everything is fresh, delicious, and plentiful. The monastery itself has beautiful scenery, perfect for a relaxing morning walk. My only regret is staying just one night—I’ll definitely be back!

Breakfast looked great, plenty of sweet and savoury products. I also liked that you could choose what type of dish you wanted to eat and pay from the evening menu so you didn’t have to enjoy all 4 courses at dinner. I loved our room, beautifully appointed and cleaned every day. Well looked after by all the staff in particular Valero. The ambiance, the Convent building and warm welcome. A unique holiday experience thank you !

There is a warm and family atmosphere amongst the staff here that I have not experienced other hotels. There is a respectful calmness to the atmosphere in this old home. It felt like a respite hotel. I was able to relax and read in the common areas and in a quiet atmosphere outside by the pool. I relaxed in lounge chairs and enjoyed hot tea on the cold rainy days and still felt cozy and relaxed. The pool is very fresh and heated and feels so lovely to swim in. It was amongst my favourite thing to do. It feels like a very small boutique hotel. The breakfast was delicious, and there was A variety of foods of eggs, cooked prosciutto, fruits and granola, fresh sweet breads made that day and a coffee bar, fresh prosciutto, cheeses and toast. The rooms are very cosy and original in their paint and fresco‘s and furniture of a past time and period. I found my bed very firm and comfortable to sleep in, and the sheets were very soft and they had lovely cotton quilts with wool blankets. They gave me the original skeleton keys for your door and a clicker for the gate so you can leave and enter the property easily. My views of the Tuscana Hills were a daily reminder of God’s beauty and marvellous creation. The view was green on green on green and the air was so fresh! Everything here is very lush in Tuscany and a feast for the eyes. The food is very fresh and delicious and they bring in local producers. This hotel is run by a very special group of people and family they were all warm and helpful and accommodating. If you’re looking for rest and a quiet place to put your feet up, enjoy good food in a quiet atmosphere this is the place. 💕

It’s just a magically amazing place! Breathtaking view, pool with warm geothermal water, beautifully renovated ancient convent, where everything breathes with a history. Our room was spacious as well as the bathroom. Everything is very clean, food is delicious (we had breakfast, tried lunch once and had a dinner few times). The owners and the staff are very nice, friendly and helpful! We warmly recommend you to stay here!

We liked everything!

Steeped in history - our tour of the convent was fascinating. The outdoor pool is lovely and hot with stunning views across the valley. Lovely traditional touches throughout. A real sense of peace.

Their website says "You will not find any TV in any of our rooms since we value the silence and the mystic atmosphere you can breathe at Convento San Bartolomeo" yet one evening there was live music in the bar until 11pm. Spa room was not prepared for our session. Thick rubber under sheet on bed.

This place was a dream. From the staff, to the room and the hotel grounds and history, we loved every single bit of it. We stayed 5 nights and everything was exceptional. Pool was the best part and water was like a warm bath. Also amazing places to sit around the hotel, chill and just read a book. Quiet and far from city noises. Perfect relaxation location.

Mattress was a bit hard and pillows was quite thin. I didn't sleep so well and that was a bit of a let down ☹️

Stunning historical place, amazing bedroom and view, courteus staff. The on-site restaurant has really high quality food and also the barman at the pool made really tasty cocktails. The breakfast buffet was lovely, with a great variety of local and homemade food, and fresh coffee. It’s a great place to relax and recharge.

The baby cot costs 30 euros per night which we think is unnecessary.

An amazing old building with a real feeling of history. Great breakfast. Lovely pool area with amazing view.

Some of the staff a little 'cool', not very smiley, we felt like just another customer. (Not all the staff, the owner who gave us a little tour was really nice). The convent is actually right on a main road and next to a big supermarket. We had assumed it would have been a bit more remote (I guess it used to be before the town grew). It was peaceful though.
