This is a food destination and a country cottage dream. From the expansive views of fields, mountains and forest, to the sound of a rushing river, the place welcomes you with ease. The manor house and the room we stayed in were both tastefully decorated. The room was large with a very large bed. The fireplace in each room is a very nice touch - with enough wood to keep it burning all through the stay. It was winter, and the rain on the tin roof was novel, while the extra outdoor shower was a fun fresh experience in the morning and in the rain as well. It was the perfect place for my wife and I to unplug and reconnect. Although there is wifi and phone signal, the atmosphere did not lend itself to wanting to reach beyond the present circumstances. The food at the Manor House is seriously exceptional. I would say it's worth staying over just to have the meals. Be warned the dinner portions are massive! Maybe skip lunch so that you can have as much of the dinner as possible. Breakfast was also really good. Tasteful, like everything else.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Stanford Valley Lodge with our family. The bungalows are beautiful, offering breathtaking views of the mountains. The entire estate is stunning, with a fantastic pool that is truly family-friendly. A special highlight of our stay was the Manor House restaurant, which we visited every evening – the food was simply outstanding! But what truly sets Stanford Valley Lodge apart is the warmth and kindness of the people who work there. Everyone made us feel so welcome, and we’d like to give a special mention to Varda at reception, who was incredibly helpful and made our stay even more memorable. We can highly recommend Stanford Valley Lodge to anyone looking for a relaxing, beautiful, and hospitable getaway. We will definitely be back!

Set in the countryside just outside Stanford, with beautiful views across to the mountains beyond. The room was spacious and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Nice swimming pool in the grounds. All the staff were lovely and very helpful. Dinner was exceptional - beautifully cooked and full of flavour. Breakfast was good too.

Air conditioning would have been nice although there was a fan and you could open lots of windows. The trip across the lawn to the accommodation from reception would not be suitable for anyone with walking difficulties.

Loved the scenery and the pool and swimming Dam. The horses and donkeys were lovely to greet in the mornings and the breakfast was really lovely for the price. The town of Stanford wasn't too far away and offered a great little choice of cafe's and restaurants also.

The room wasn't as nice as we hoped with the price but still a cute cottage vibe. We only had a bath which could have really done with a shower head so we didn't have to fill it every time we wanted a quick clean. The mini fridge was broken so kept freezing our drinks. The use of sauna and steam room wasn't included with the stay which we thought should have been advertised better.

Amazing stay. Kind and attentive staff, great views and incredible food in the restaurant. Lots of wildlife on the property and a Beautiful pool area. Good spa treatments at reasonable prices. Great MTB trials, though be advised you need to bring your own bike and the closest rental shop is in Hermanus.

No airconditioning was problematic given the heat, and we didn’t want to leave windows open at night as they had no screens for bugs. The pool area could use a bar (or honesty bar) for drinks or at least cold water, as every time we wanted a drink we had to walk balk up to the main lodge.

Best stay in South Africa! We will definitely come back. It the combination of the beautiful, peaceful location, the excellent friendly staff, the delicious restaurant, the sunset from the mountain close by and let’s not forget about the beautiful swimming pool with super comfortable sun beds! We literally did not want to leave. It’s just perfect! Thanks team this is what hospitality is about!

There were suggested breakfast options but then also the option to mix and match which we took full advantage of. The staff were very friendly and engaging and supportive and helpful.

Sometimes we felt a bit regimented. i.e., told where to sit.

This was my third stay, and it is a firm favourite. Everything about Stanford Valley Guest Lodge is wonderful; the welcome bottle of bubbly in our room, the location, the facilities, the food, the decor and the staff, who are all delightful, helpful and interested in the comfort and happiness of their guests. Our spa treatment was also excellent. We are already looking forward to our next stay there! We also just loved the beautiful new pool facility.

Absolutely nothing

The setting is absolutely beautiful, the room had everything you could wish for. Amazing staff, exceptionally good food. Added bonus for the art collection and mid century modern furniture.

I expected a bit more amenities in the room e.g. a shower, two lounge chairs and a TV would have been nice. The firewood for the internal heater was too wet to get the fire going
