this is a most beautiful place on the ocean shore where we has been. I leaved in South Africa during one year (working on the construction of wind turbine farm). Me and my family visited a lot of places in Western Cape but Gourikwa Nature Reserve staying deep deep in our harts. The accommodation houses gives so real feeling of privacy and a great nature wondering non-stop. We has been in three different houses during 2023 / 2024 and each time it was more wonderful than previously. Our kid running on the beautiful grass yard of Honeymoon house (fisherman house 19) - its so much happy feeling to see him smiling every minute:) For all families who going to visit Gourikwa Nature Reserve - please be sure that you will get a most nice time spending ever. Just try to imagine - to have a nice braai dinner with family on your private terrace and see the whales in the ocean in front of your house. And yes - we dropped the coin into the ocean waves because we are sure that we will return to this fantastic place.

Very quiet, with beautiful scenery and the property is well maintained.

There was no restaurant availability - staff mentioned the restaurant is only open during December holidays. The products available in the small tuck shop corner is very limited and visitors to this facility should bring all their food with. There are also just 2 cooking pots in the facility we occupied with a 2-plate induction stove top. So, the meals I could prepare was limited as there was also no oven or Air Freyer.

The staff were extremely helpful and responsive. The nature reserve is beautiful and very peaceful. We had a beautiful sea view from our room.

The room was missing some of the kitchen utensils that were on the list and could be better equipped. The public area at the swimming pool had not been cleaned for a while, the bins were overflowing, there was no loo paper and the same cans had been outside the whole week.

Friendly welcome at the reception. Exquisite setting overlooking the sea. Immaculate accomodation with everything we required.

There are two possible access roads, each approaching from a different direction. The second road has a code activated gate and no cellphone signal to phone the reception for the code. The correct road should be made very clear to visitors to avoid frustration.

Lovely and very spacious apartment. Zebras and tortoises were very nearby and there were lots of beautiful birds . All were easy to look at and take photos of. There was a very good photo list of birds and flowers, (and snakes) available in the welcome folder and this was very useful. We went on two good long walks in the massive area of the reserve. Fabulous long unspoilt views especially from the view point from where you could see for miles all around. Gourikwa is a beautiful place to be .

Nothing to dislike.

Fisherman's houses are comfortable rather than rustic, as described. Very clean, lots of hot water and with stunning views of the sea and rocky coast and lots of birds. Away from weekends, the wedding facilities, particularly a lovely pool are empty of other guests. Pleasant beach walk at Gouritsmond too.

Don't expect animal stings but the birds compensate.

Surrounded by gorgeous nature. Ample space. Love the option of both a bath and a shower. Friendly and helpful staff. Safe surroundings and thefeeling of peace and safety. Absolutely loved it and have recommended it to friends

Some shaded parking would be nice, but not essential as it is very safe. The restaurant on the site is only open in December and Jan. An option for breakfast would be nice, but understandable that the demand may not be high enough during the rest of the year.

Guest need the gate pin upon full payment. We were not aware of the different entrance, took the gravel road, no cellphone reception..stuck at gate, no pin to get in. We have to drive a lot kilos back to get reception. So it was very unpleasat. So you need ro sent guest immediate after paymet you map location aswell the gate pin. Thank you

What a truly magical spot. Our little fisherman's cottage, just a stone's throw from the shoreline (number 20), exceeded our expectations in every way. Cosy, comfortable, spotlessly clean, well equipped, and with the most amazing views from every window, it left us from wanting very little more. The coast is very rugged, so don't come expecting long stretches of sand, but if being at one with nature is important this spot couldn't be better. The walking trails through the reserve are well signed and cleared, with numerous information boards along the way adding to our hikes. The views from the summit point, and from the whale point look out, could hardly be improved (this would undoubtedly be a great location during the whale migration season). Sunsets behind the lighthouse were amazing and the sunrise over the sea to the east were worth getting up early for. Come well stocked with all the supplies you need as Gourikwa really is very remote, but despite this the access road is exceptional. Staff were welcoming and friendly, and quickly provided a necessary bottle opener which was missing from our cottage. All in all this was a perfect stay in every way; how we'd love to return.

Not a thing we didn't like, but the cottage could maybe be improved with some sun loungers or comfortable outdoor seating.

The staff were fantastic! Dylon went out of his way to assist us. We upgraded to a sea cottage, which had the most amazing view. The visit to the lighthouse was also very informative, and the viewpoint was awesome.

It was stated that they have satellite TV, but since replaced DSTV with Openview, which is a lot of rubbish.
