My group of 8 friends and I recently stayed at The Peninsula Hotel in Dar es Salaam—first for 2 nights, and then returned for another 4-night stay—and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was exceptional. The staff were incredibly kind, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. A special thank you to the housekeeping lead, who went above and beyond to ensure our rooms were always spotless, fully stocked, and comfortable. She truly made a difference in our stay. Jacob the porter was also amazing—always smiling and ready to help with anything we needed. The rooms themselves were very spacious, clean, and modern, with huge TVs and excellent showers with great water pressure and temperature. We all slept very comfortably. Breakfast was another highlight—delicious, with plenty of variety, and a lovely way to start each day. The location of the hotel is fantastic; not only is it central and secure, but there’s a gas station right next door with handy amenities and an ATM, which made everything even more convenient. The staff were also very patient and understanding when we had a few minor issues on our side, and handled everything with professionalism and grace. We truly had the best time at The Peninsula Hotel and felt completely at home. We would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Dar es Salaam and are already looking forward to staying again. Thank you to the amazing team for making our trip so memorable!

Nothing.

This is my third time staying in the Peninsula Hotel, it’s in a good location, one of the oldest hotels in that area. Though the hotel is old but again, I admire the management for keeping it up-to-date with the modern requirements. Staff are charming and helpful

The hotel has no good view as the hotel has only three floors and is surrounded by big buildings and a petrol (gas) station. The hotel entrance looks like a 2-star hotel which is uncomfortable. The only entrance is thru the car park gate which has to be opened by a security guard (in/out) whenever you pass through. If the security guard delays then you’ve to bow down to get through the gate

Even though our stay was short, the stay was very comfortable. Greeted by the staff on arrival and looked after throughout the process, you knew you could call on them for anything, which we did as we wanted to chill out on our balcony and have a couple of drinks and enjoy being in Africa. The hotel is located in a nice, safe area, which is in tuk tuk distance of local bars, restaurants and the waterfront. It's a chilled out version of the tourist area. Even though we were up at 7am for a flight, breakfast was served so we could eat before we went, which the staff made sure of.

Nothing really, the AC was a bit loud, but we were so tired it really didn't bother us. Nothing to do with the hotel, just a FYI warning that the middle of town is under a bit of construction, so make sure you have enough time to get to the airport and back. The main highway from the airport is basically finished, which is going to make getting around Dar so much faster in the future. It's great to see all the new infrastructure development happening since I was there last.

Staff are charming and helpful, I stayed in the suite room which was very spacious, clean, very quiet and well organized

The hotel has no good view (I stayed in room 101) as the hotel has only three floors and is surrounded by big buildings and a petrol (gas) station. The hotel entrance looks like a 2-star hotel, but good security when passing through the hotel car park

The hotel's location is pretty good, the rooms were spacious and even had a balcony, the breakfast was decent and the food I ordered was good enough, also the insolation is decent so I could sleep well. the staff was nice and helpful and even let me check out late. There is a gym and a decent restaurant.

the room smelled a bit damped and there was a dirty cotton bud in the wardrobe which was disgusting, and there was some tissue paper on the floor I guess cleaning wasn't what I would have expected. The hotel is a bit old and maybe a few renovations will make it into a better place.

Location very central ousterbay masaki. Loads of restaurants short tuk tuck ride away ( 1-2$). Supermarket next door. Try to get a room west side of building. Every room has balcony for a puff. Rooms are very large and comfortable with all amenities. Very high value for money. I book alwas last few days before arrival to profit from booking.com last minute deals and mobile discounts:-) downtown dar es salaam a short 15 min taxi ride.

The room has very large and bright. I also had a balcony where one could sit. I liked the atmosphere of the hotel, as it was clean and very appealing. It's a place I would love to stay again on my next visit. There are several restaurants and bars around the hotel. With just about 10 mins. walk you can get to coco beach.

Nothing to complain, however for a gym lover like me, the gym is small and does not have much equipment. Also depending on where your room is, your view could be the main street and petrol station.

The staff are the best! The size of the room is great. Tile floors and sliding door to the balcony to allow fresh air in. Great location for dining and shopping, also near to great medical care facilities. But really, the staff are what keep us coming back again and again.

The beds, the bedding and the pillows are all overdue for replacement.
