It was beautiful

Staff were all excellent except for: 1. On the day of check in, all front deck are without customers. So I approached an empty counter. The 2 staff that were there just used hand gesture, no smile, pointing me to other counter. That was rude by hospitality standard. 2. Upon checking in, we made our way to the lift with our luggage. No staff offered help with the luggage. At the same time, there was a guest from western countries. The staff clamoured to help him with the luggage ans even hold the lift door for them. Why are we locals did not get the same hospitality? We are guests too.

I'd like to use this channel to express my thanks to Shangri La Rasa Sayang Penang swimming pool workers Azahar and Nazim (person on duty for safety) for saving me from drowning in the 2m pool. My leg has crammed halfway through swimming, and this person has rapidly entered. He also helped to calm me down after the initial stress. It was incredible how accommodating they were. Another employee at Pinang Bar restaurant, MR.Rengis, swiftly assisted me with warm water to relieve the cramps, which was a huge comfort. I am really pleased with the warm gestures of the ShangriLa staff and would definitely suggest this location. Kudos to ShangriLa management. Thank you in

love the complementary for rasa wing benefits especially for welcome drink, afternoon tea and cocktails not enough time to get complimentary soft drinks, coffee and tea at pool ( will come again and try ) room service - the best breakfast nice especially stall outside teh tarik staff at concierge the best, they greet us and remember our room and remind us to come for cocktail, explain about bf staff at cocktail all nice and serve well. will come again and stay at rase wing only and not garden looking forward ground room / family room

room - sad bout the socket plug not much and not at both beds (very difficult) room seems old version charge airport transfer to customer quite high should give complementary.! hope u can offer me much more better offer in future

Good location and first class accommodation

At check-in reception takes more money than the cost of your stay to cover any meals and drinks purchased on your room. They take the money at checking but on checkout they take 14 days to give you any money back - that’s just corporate greed !!

The breakfast had a great choice and tasted good. The local coffee served outside the breakfast cafe was amazing. The staff were super friendly. The man cleaning our room went out of his way to make us comfortable. The waves at the coast are super relaxing to hear and the complex is large to walk around. Also, outside, there are some interesting shops and restaurants to try. The restaurants in the hotel were fairly good as well. We went parasailing and the guys taking us out on the boat were super nice.

The place has a beach, but you wouldn't use it. The waves eat away at the side of the place, so I imagine maintaining a proper beach in this location is hard. It is mostly horrible, massive black bags of sand to protect it from eroding. You have a nicer beach, a ten-minute walk down the road. Also, you have lots of people on site selling massages, art and water sports. It can be a little annoying being asked 10 times if you want to go jet skiing when you just want to walk along and chill.

We loved everything pool, food, staff (apart from pool incident). We had family reunion from US, Singapore & London.

My mother in law has advance Parkinson’s disease and has difficulty moving. After breakfast all shaded spots around the pool were taken, so we sat her on a sun lounge and wanted to bring a sun umbrella over. It proved to be impossible. Even duty manager after seeing my helpless mother in law came out to tell us the rule was that no sun umbrella can be moved. It took an hour to find a shaded spot then we moved. my mother in law delicate skin turned red and stayed like that for the following 2 days. she was not in pain luckily. From then on we ended up reserving our seats before going to have our breakfast.

No beach.. it’s eroded

Room in Garden wing, spacious and even with an extra bed for our child, there was plenty of space. The room had a balcony with a table and chairs and a gate to a small garden overlooking the pool. The air conditioning will go off as soon as you open the balcony doors and there is a ceiling fan in the room which you could use instead. A lot of thought went into setting up the room. Complimentary "tau sar pneah", a local biscuit was replenished everyday. What a special touch! The breakfast spread was brilliant. Suggestions for improvement: Where were the Penang Hokkien Mee, Nyonya Kuih and Char Koay Kak and Chee Cheong Fun?! These were sadly missing even though Penang the food paradise is famous for these dishes! We loved the durian ice potong and ice creams available at breakfast. Housekeeping staff were all very courteous and friendly and would greet you everywhere you went. They performed their work impeccably. The many deckchairs facing the beach for guests to relax under the shady palm trees was amazing and the hammock was the icing on the cake. Brilliant stuff!

See above regarding what was missing at breakfast! Monitor lizard swimming in the swimming pool did put people off. They may not be poisonous but it is scary if you are not used to seeing it. And to have it swimming next to you in the pool is strange and put a dampener on the whole experience.

The location and the facilities,beautiful views and pools. The manager Michelle was very helpful and nice and well trained manager And the young man receptionist Syahir was very nice and smart

We arrived there at 6Pm and when we checked in they gave us a bad room with a bad view blocked by trees even though i booked a sea view room,then when I complained they said my room is not ready yet,but it had to be coz the check in time is at 3Pm ,so instead of informing us and explaining they just didn’t and also they didn’t treat and welcome us nicely,they brought others welcome drinks and hot towels and stuff not for us. Next day Michelle solved the problem and gave us a very beautiful suit. The Tv in the room was very old and small and poor channels,at least it must be a smart Tv that you can connect to and watch things you like. The shower head was also so old and bad,it just pours out everywhere but the direction you need.

We had an fantastic stay 4 nights stay in the Shangri-La Rasa-Seya in Penang. The Rasa Wing Junior Suite was just great, with a big balcony with bath and complimentary afternoon tea and cocktail hour with canapes and drinks. For breakfast we preferred the a-la-carte at the Ferringi breakfast as it was quieter than at the Spice-market and every day they had some other Chef Specialities on the breakfast menu. All the staff was very friendly, polite and helpfull.

My only comment about the food in the Spice Market is that the Asian/local dishes could be more authentic and tastefull. It was for my taste a bit dull and maybe more made for Westerne palettes.
