It was beautiful

Staff were all excellent except for: 1. On the day of check in, all front deck are without customers. So I approached an empty counter. The 2 staff that were there just used hand gesture, no smile, pointing me to other counter. That was rude by hospitality standard. 2. Upon checking in, we made our way to the lift with our luggage. No staff offered help with the luggage. At the same time, there was a guest from western countries. The staff clamoured to help him with the luggage ans even hold the lift door for them. Why are we locals did not get the same hospitality? We are guests too.

I'd like to use this channel to express my thanks to Shangri La Rasa Sayang Penang swimming pool workers Azahar and Nazim (person on duty for safety) for saving me from drowning in the 2m pool. My leg has crammed halfway through swimming, and this person has rapidly entered. He also helped to calm me down after the initial stress. It was incredible how accommodating they were. Another employee at Pinang Bar restaurant, MR.Rengis, swiftly assisted me with warm water to relieve the cramps, which was a huge comfort. I am really pleased with the warm gestures of the ShangriLa staff and would definitely suggest this location. Kudos to ShangriLa management. Thank you in

love the complementary for rasa wing benefits especially for welcome drink, afternoon tea and cocktails not enough time to get complimentary soft drinks, coffee and tea at pool ( will come again and try ) room service - the best breakfast nice especially stall outside teh tarik staff at concierge the best, they greet us and remember our room and remind us to come for cocktail, explain about bf staff at cocktail all nice and serve well. will come again and stay at rase wing only and not garden looking forward ground room / family room

room - sad bout the socket plug not much and not at both beds (very difficult) room seems old version charge airport transfer to customer quite high should give complementary.! hope u can offer me much more better offer in future

The facilities at the Rasa Wing offer access to a la carte breakfast at the Ferringhi Grill and complimentary canapes in the evening and afternoon tea. I believe the rooms in this wing offer a more premium experience, but at additional cost. The breakfast at the Ferringhi Grill and evening canapes are a lovely touch and the standard of food here is certainly above average. The room was cleaned twice daily and well stocked, special mention to Abu Hasan, who did a great job!

The other breakfast option at the Spice Market on the ground floor was very chaotic and crowded. Food quality at the Spice Market was pretty much standard fare, although the options were numerous. We stayed at the Junior Suite in the Rasa Wing, and while the room was lovely, it was a long walk to the pool and breakfast.

The breakfast was extremely good with a wide variety of fresh and cooked food. The plan of the rooms was very practical and workable; the most was made of the available space. All the rooms had great views of the vegetation. The lifts were efficient and the place was kept very clean without being sterile. While the decor and architecture is somewhat dated, it is all maintained in very good condition. The gardens are beautiful.

The only usable tennis court was a little tired and wet/slippery but we still had fun and a great effort was made to make the court available when we wanted it. There was a lack of variety of food for dinner.

Good location and first class accommodation

At check-in reception takes more money than the cost of your stay to cover any meals and drinks purchased on your room. They take the money at checking but on checkout they take 14 days to give you any money back - that’s just corporate greed !!

The breakfast had a great choice and tasted good. The local coffee served outside the breakfast cafe was amazing. The staff were super friendly. The man cleaning our room went out of his way to make us comfortable. The waves at the coast are super relaxing to hear and the complex is large to walk around. Also, outside, there are some interesting shops and restaurants to try. The restaurants in the hotel were fairly good as well. We went parasailing and the guys taking us out on the boat were super nice.

The place has a beach, but you wouldn't use it. The waves eat away at the side of the place, so I imagine maintaining a proper beach in this location is hard. It is mostly horrible, massive black bags of sand to protect it from eroding. You have a nicer beach, a ten-minute walk down the road. Also, you have lots of people on site selling massages, art and water sports. It can be a little annoying being asked 10 times if you want to go jet skiing when you just want to walk along and chill.

It was our first visit to Shangri-La Rasa Sayang, Penang, and we had a truly memorable stay. From the moment we arrived until the day we left, the service was excellent across all areas. Special thanks to Mr. Yus at the Reception for his warmth and kindness. He generously upgraded our room to a suite, which made our stay even more special. The buffet breakfast offered a good variety of options, though there’s still room for improvement. The pool and amenities were excellent, especially considering the age of the hotel. You can still feel the touch of modern luxury, particularly if you're staying at the Rasa Wing

Honestly, everything was perfect during our stay. The only slight downside is that the beach isn’t suitable for swimming. But it’s still a beautiful place for a walk or to relax under the trees

No beach.. it’s eroded

Having just completed a wonderful stay at the Shangri-La Rasa Sayang from June 1st to June 3rd, 2025, I'm already looking forward to my next visit! This resort truly exceeded my expectations and provided the perfect escape. From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the absolutely stunning environment. The resort is enveloped by lush, mature green trees and beautifully manicured gardens, creating an immediate sense of tranquility and a refreshing tropical ambiance. It felt like stepping into a serene paradise, a true breath of fresh air. And the private beach? Simply divine! It offered a peaceful and exclusive spot to relax, soak up the sun, and enjoy the gentle lapping of the waves, away from the crowds. What truly elevated my experience was the incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Every single interaction, from check-in to dining and any queries I had, was met with genuine smiles and a willingness to assist. Their attentiveness made me feel truly valued as a guest. I particularly appreciated their thoughtful gesture of complimentary food due to a slight delay in my check-in. It was a small touch, but it spoke volumes about their commitment to guest satisfaction and turned a minor inconvenience into a pleasant surprise. Another fantastic aspect of the Shangri-La Rasa Sayang is the ability to utilize the facilities at its sister property, the Shangri-La Golden Sands. This added so much value to my stay, offering even more options for recreation and dining. It felt like getting two resorts in one! Overall, my stay at the Shangri-La Rasa Sayang was nothing short of exceptional. The beautiful environment, the exclusive private beach, the genuinely helpful staff, and the added benefit of shared facilities with the Golden Sands all contributed to a truly memorable and relaxing getaway. I highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a luxurious and peaceful retreat in Penang.
