I had an amazing experience at Castel Monastero. The staff were extremely friendly - as soon as I told them it was my birthday they showered me with surprises including birthday cake and birthday balloons with a bottle of wine in my room! The hotel was extremely clean, breakfast was great. Couldn’t choose a better location for my birthday getaway!

Everything was great!

Looked stunning. lovely location. Quiet. Room was large and comfortable. sense of space .

It was very dark. perhaps just my room. Access to restaurant needed steep steps which at night, wasn’t easy, particularly in the rain. Many facilities closed or underused. staff didn’t encourage you to eat or drink outside even in lovely evenings. Seemed understaffed. Took over an hour to get someone to “open up” by the pool. Staff weren’t as obliging as many, possibly language issues. most struggled with English. food in both restaurants “so so”. food expensive for Tuscany. found much better quality outside.

Loved property, stylish, chic, great courtyard breakfast. Enjoyed swimming pool garden, very quiet and tranquil to relax.

Attention to detail for 5 star property/price of b&b could be improved. Eg kettle In every room. I have marked value for money based on dining experience already given to hotel. The Al a Carte looks stunning but equally has to offer customer experience to feel satisfied for the high ticket price/value and dishes available. I would recommend the cellar restaurant offers a greater selection available.

At the booking site. Fantastic stay in a wonderful place! We loved the room, the place and the staff! Can’t wait to go back. Worth to stay at least 3 nights. We stayed 2 and fell so sorry to leave. The manger of the restaurant is 5 stars! The food was great and the breakfast fantastic!

everything was perfect

The stand out feature were the staff - every single one was friendly, helpful and always happy with a “can do” attitude. The best team that we have been with over many years of travel worldwide. The restaurant was good and everything - all dietary requirements - was, with no exception, too much trouble. Three outside pools and plenty of places for groups to sit out and also for a more quiet relax away from others. Some manageable walks out of the hotel which is set in beautiful Tuscan countryside. Our suite was excellent and the whole property was unique: a village unlike any we have encountered before. It is a Retreat more than Resort and a car is necessary to travel more widely or a very easily organised and reliable taxi through the hotel. Siena is within easy striking distance by car or taxi.

I like the old monastery and the integration with the nature. The swimming pool was great and the staff kind. Food was good.

The lack of electrical charger although advertised which forced us to go around to top up

The location was amazing! Remote, picturesque and peaceful. It’s also perfect for exploring Siena, Montepulciano, Pienza and Montalcino (all are less than an hour away). The hotel has been thought about very carefully and is in-keeping with the monastery architecture, which makes a stay all the more relaxing. The staff, especially those on reception/concierge, were exceptionally attentive and had a great eye for detail. When we arrived we were upgraded to a different room because we were on our honeymoon-this was so generous of the hotel and marked them above the others we stayed in. The breakfast was very good, coffee was amazing too. The pools were great too-the perfect blend of relaxation and being able to swim! The pool staff were very attentive and looked after us beautifully. Dinner here was something very special indeed! The food was exquisite-up there in the top 5 meals we’ve ever eaten. The room was huge, immaculately clean and incredibly comfortable and with a gorgeous view of the Tuscan countryside. Bathroom was incredible too.

My husband being embarrassed, in front of other guests, by a senior member of staff, on “fine dining” night for not wearing trousers..something should have been said discreetly….

Fantastic Location with beautiful surrounding views. Breakfast each morning was fantastic with a great variety of food to choose from. The staff upon check in were amazing and the lunch/dinner service was superb.

The bed was a little uncomfortable and the rooms were a little bit of a let down for the price.

The hotel with no doubt is special and luxury. The staff service was superior. Breakfast was nice, nothing special to mention about.

The expectations from that kind of hotel is to think about all details including the small details to make the vacation perfect, and this perfection was missing. For example, there was no carpet at the entrance to the room (Which was directly from outside) so when it was raining we had to gi with wet shoes into the room floor. Closet was very unuseful and no way we could put our staff, as there was not enough room, in addition, there were no baggage stands, so we needed to keep most of our staff in the suitcases which we put on the floor. Bath room door was a slide door and we could barely move it. I asked to fix it, but it didn't happen. This criticizing is mostly for the hotel management attention.
