The place was better than expected. The rooms were big and comfortable, traditional Ryokan style. The hotel is clean, and they sell food for a reasonable price; considering how hard it is to find combines around, this is very convenient. They also have a game centre, billiard and table tennis.
The place is a bit old but clean and well-maintained, and for its value, it is totally worth it. However, it is worth considering that it does not have many amenities above the basics (I lost my hairbands, and they couldn`t provide me anything to cover my hair, which was a bit of an inconvenience in the onsen). Since the place is so far from everything, it is good to prepare in advance. The onsen was nice, but the water was not hot enough for me. Most onsens I've been to before were definitely warmer than this.

High quality of onsen, outdoor onsen and lobby and building and rooms, maybe a little dated but nostalgic. Great location beautiful area for natural beauty. Ping pong, pool and table football was fun and children liked cooking their own dango.
As long as you are aware that there is no restaurant and only frozen bento is provided for meals (we brought our own meals), then no problem.

A fun onsen spa frequented by Japanese families (less foreign tourists) with lots of entertainment for children. Well-maintained onsen, friendly staff. There are amazing restaurants in town and the beautiful Yuppo no Sato footh bath, a must-do. A good starting point to explore the mountains (less hiking since bears are out & about).
The town seems less active.

The property has many in house services They have gaming arcade, lounge area, table tennis, billiards , foosball table and open air onsen. They also serve frozen bento boxes and onsen no tamago.
The property is not well maintained. Renovation was under way when we visited so hope that it will ger better. Also hygiene at the onsen can be improved too. The property, in general needs more cleaning. The common bathrooms too.

Great location in the middle of the mountains. There were exceptional views all around and the onsen was quite nice. The room has everything you need and the staff are very friendly.
Lack of sufficient safe parking. We checked in a bit late and we had to use the gravel parking lot. This would've been no problem but due to unclear marked spaces, many drivers did not park correctly. Try to arrive earlier to have better parking!

The room was good than I expected. Not new, but well cleaned and wide enough. I didn't have breakfast and dinner so no comments about those.
There are 3 car parkings for this hotel. 2 of those are in front or in back of the hotel, but rest 1 is in far place so should be unconfortable to use. Fortunately I was in No.2 parking, but if it was No.3, I might be exhausted.

The onsen was beautiful and the onsen egg was a special treat. The staff were fantastic and the value for money was incomparable. The kids had fun in the little throwback arcade.
The microwave breakfast was an adjustment but it was good and flexible and we were glad to have it.

They sold frozen bentos for breakfast which were pretty good. The location is good with easy access to ski areas (both working and abandoned:), the Nasu highlands were within an hour's drive and Kinugawa onsen was even closer. This was my second stay here and it was quite full, but they had 3 areas for parking so that was convenient.
Wished they would get back to cooking breakfast and get beyond this COVID nonsense. That would make it a 10.

I loved the onsen and the traditional style room. For 1 person the space they gave me was very spacious and really nice :)) The onsen was very nice and relaxing especially the open air section of the bath.
Nothing really to dislike about this place. It was wonderful to stay at
