The hosts were amazing welcoming us into their home. A gorgeous home in a beautiful spot in the countryside. The room was traditional Japanese style and the pillows were great. The guests all chatted in the kitchen with the hosts and we could all enjoy time together. We could use the kitchen to cook and a fridge too. Such lovely people who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. They recommended some fabulous activities in the local area which were great. We especially enjoyed the outdoor Onsen and the paper making experience. Outstanding .
We could only stay one day. Wish we had more time.

Had a great experience here, felt welcomed as an invited guest rather than a customer, it made me feel at home, and really went far and beyond to help me out with my time in Iiyama, awesome human beings. More akin to a homestay than a hostel. My only regrets are that I didn't stay longer, and didn't know more Japanese to engage in deeper conversation with the owners. When life allows it, I will come back, no doubt, and at least stay 5 nights instead of 3.
Hard to say, not really any complaints other than the location not being the best. It's very dark at night and there are bears in the area, however, one roundtrip ride to Iiyama and back is offered a day if planned ahead, so it doesn't really even make it an issue. Would recommend a car if possible though, will save much time as some really nice areas are hard to get to without one as there are limited buses.

A very nice place on the outskirts of Iiyama. Within about 30-40min walk you can get to the spots of interest in Iiyama (museums, shopping street, etc). I found the house to be spacious and clean. It felt like being at my parents' place. The hosts are very kind and caring. They can accomodate within reason pick up at Iiyama station. The hosts recommended me attractions of interest in Iiyama. I enjoyed them a lot. I went in a rainy day and so my things were wet. Especially my shoes, the hosts did their best at drying them without me having to ask or anything. They also provided a place to put my bicycle so it would be protected from the rain. In the morning, they shared home grown watermelon with me. In short, I felt welcomed and I had a warming experience. I absolutely recommend choosing this guest house.
Please take precaution that in dark hours wild animals (foxes, boars, bears, and others) are active in the area. Safety precautions would be to plan on being home before dark, not going out alone after dark and having bells and lights to make your presence known to the animals. For me, it didn't matter since I can manage some level of japanese. But please note that the hosts only speak japanese and a few words of english. Consequently, communication is facilited through Google translate. I would advise to be considerate of making short, concise sentences that leave little to no ambiguity because the shortcomings of Google translate may cause misunderstandings.

Everything! The most loveliest hosts, felt really like spending the stay in their family. Since vegan dinner options were rare in Iiyama, the host lady prepared a vegan vegetable stew and tofu as a side dish just for me and we had dinner together at their family kitchen table. ♡ Though communicating in English was a bit difficult, the 3 of them made an immense effort to communicate with me via Google translate - loved and enjoyed learning more about Iiyama, their life and Japanese culture so much! Also, met their lovely daughter Natsumi again by accident in Nozawa at Haus St. Anton a few days later which was lovely! :) Thank you for everything!!!
That I had to leave after one night...

Amazing stay at Guest House Yukuru. Arigato, you really go above and beyond to make the guests feel welcomed into the pace of your lifestyle. Thank you for everything. I really enjoyed the traditional Japanese room, tatami mat bed, and home cooked meals were wonderful. Thank you for your kindness.
The house is in the countryside so it's not really walkable to town and no public transport available, but the hosts are very helpful offering to drive to nearby attractions.

The hosts were so friendly and accommodating. We had a language barrier, but hand signals and translators not a problem. . It is 15min drive to Nowzaonsen, and 20mins to Togari - japanese families stay to take advantage of the ski fields.
It is a little bit out of the way, we had a hire car, it was easy. I believe host will collect you from bus/trains etc, run you into town if required.

The owners take you places as it's far from everything, and were kind enough to come twice when I had missed my train station. The area is very beautiful and house nice. Stay was good.
If you have noisy people next room, it will be hell, you hear them as if they stay in your room! Plus sharing facilities with other guests but also with owners makes you feel more than an invited than paying guest, not very free. Not cheap though.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The place is very clean, and the amenities are extremely comfortable. The hosts are incredibly kind—they even picked me up from the Liyama station. This is an excellent accommodation if you’re planning to go skiing, as the host is kind enough to drive you to the Liyama station, where you can catch a bus to your preferred ski resort.

Everything! The hosts were friendly and helpful, they even recommended new spots to visit! The room was spacious and there were nice common areas, everything was super clean and the area around the house is beautiful. The house it’s a bit far from the station but they can pick you up and drop you there by car. It was a great stay!!! 100% recommend :)

I really enjoyed the stay in 遊来る guest house, even though I didn’t get too much time to look around, as I arrived late, I had a chance to have a pleasant chat with the owners. Also they were very kind to send me one item that I accidentally left in the room after checking out. Thank you so much!
