The size of the room in general and the massive bathroom were good. The pool was amazing, which made cooling off during the heat of the day enjoyable. The view of the ocean was beautiful. The breakfast was good too with plenty variety.

This is me being a little particular, however I found a shortage of power outlets in the room. There wasn’t any free power outlets next to bed to plug in personal devices to charge. Maybe asking for an extension board would help others. The large wardrobe didn’t have enough shelving space to allow to unpack all the bags fully, so we had to shuffle clothes for us and the baby every night to be ready for the next days activities. As enjoyable as the food was, the heat and humidity made enjoying the meals a little uncomfortable as the dining area is all outdoors. Did my best to find a table under the ceiling fans but still managed to sweat through my meals at no fault of the resort.

Everything about this place was exceptional. The staff were very nice and welcoming. Great pool, right in front of the beach. The breakfast was by far my best buffet experience, offering both variety and delicious food. I didn't really need to go out much because this place has it all!

There were many families with children staying in this resort. I'm still happy I got to stay there, but some solo travelers may not like this. It would be great if they would have some live music in the restaurants they have there.

We absolutely loved the secluded, quiet hotel. The pool and beach are spotless - we did not want to leave. What most exceeded our expectation was the hotel restaurant White. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were so delicious with generous portions! Hotel communication was also excellent and they accommodated our very late arrival after our flights were severely delayed.

The setting was absolutely beautiful. Everywhere you went in the hotel was stunning. The pool and restaurant area were very lovely and relaxing. The breakfast was ELITE. The bedrooms were absolutely breathtaking, honestly this was a highlight. The staff were so friendly and always on hand to help, resolving issues whenever we had them. It wasn't really near much else but we didn't feel the need to leave the hotel. We would definitely return.

Some areas looked like they needed a little TLC, some rusty doors and locks in the restaurant toilets, maybe hadn't been touched for a while. Had a bad experience in the spa where they didn't have enough staff and were 15 minutes late starting my facial but this was swiftly rectified by the staff. My partner got food poisoning from one of the nights but the staff were very accommodating and looked after him and removed that meal from the bill (of course). Lots of crows scouring the pool and restaurant area which can be extremely off-putting when you're trying to relax and/or eat your lunch! The restaurant is very expensive. Despite all this, we would definitely return!!

Location is directly on the ocean, beautiful surroundings and the building/grounds are incredibly beautiful. All the staff are very present and attentive. All of them very kind, smiling and nothing is ever too much trouble. Really enjoyed their service and made my stay very pleasant. The breakfast buffet is amazing and has a variety of options, which change daily. The dosa was a firm favourite. The croissants were made fresh and definitely the best ones I’ve had in Sri Lanka, that’s spanning over 5 years of living here and searching for the perfect croissant. I really enjoyed the Spa treatments and Sadu is an incredible masseuse. I will definitely be back again for more treatments. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel and it’s an incredible place to relax, unwind and enjoy the surroundings.

Amazing colonial property in the seafront. Lovely swimming pool area with beach right in front. Staff is super friendly and the overall facilities are well managed. We also found the food lovely and the rooms very spacious. Gym is small but has all that is needed for a quick vacation workout.

Nothing major to report but 2 points to improve: - room insulation needs upgrading. The rooms struggle with humidity and the AC cannot cope even at full blast. Woke up at night with body damp from humidity and room walls wet. - tuk tuks outside the hotel have some sort of partnership with the hotel and charge 3x normal rates. This is not great, don't scam your guests for 5 dollars! These 2 points don't detract from the great stay that we had. We will be back for sure.

One of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in. I splashed out (pun intended) on the Beach Splash room, which came with its own in-room pool — a real luxury (I was worried the September weather might limit my beach/pool time so booked this option just in case, but as it happened, the weather was great). The 50m outdoor pool was beautiful, as were the gardens around the hotel and the quiet sandy beach, where you can take a stroll or watch the local stilt fishermen. The staff were excellent too, providing exceptional and warm customer service. The food and drink and the spa were great too.

Fantastic property - 10 /10 would stay again. We found out upon reaching that the hotel is part of SLH - Small Luxury Hotels group. It was a pleasant surprise to find out that with the Ocean Loft Suite we got a private butler service dedicated to us for our stay. Our butler, Thejani, went out of her way to ensure we had a comfortable stay. Loved the food, the facilities, the pool and the rooms. The service all throughout by the housekeeping staff, and restaurant staff was outstanding. We stayed with our boy and he enjoyed the pool and the in suite plunge pool too. Thanks Fortress team for the awesome experience!!!
