A very smart and large hotel with very modern interior and excellent restaurant with seating inside or outside in the beer garden. We were surprised at the size of the hotel. It is so large a map is needed to navigate around. The bathroom was very functional but with a glass screen door onto the bedroom. The wardrobe space and storage space with desk was very good. The bed supremely comfortable. We ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent as was the service.

It was a very long way to the room from the garage where our bikes were kept. Too far to carry large bags so beware if you have a lot of luggage.

Modern hotel, friendly staff. Breakfast was brilliant - very fresh, lots of different options. Would happily stay again.

Nothing much to dislike. Beds were slightly too soft for me, but not a huge problem. I like the more modern rooms in the newer building. The older rooms in the older building are a bit old-fashioned for my taste.

Never expected to find this type of accomodation in Straubing, Bavaria. As a frequent traveller I have seen thousands of superior to extraordinary hotels and stayed in most of them on a global scale. Asam did not ring a bell during booking but it certainly will in the future: professional team with that natural kind of friendliness all over the place. Location is easy to reach, the property itsself a mixed style arrangement from traditional to ultramodern. An unexpected pearl which made my day!

I had arrived 2 hrs earlier than checkin time (on bicycle) and the person at reception said no problem, we have your room ready. He then took me down into the garage where the hotel had a special gated room just for bicycles. The breakfast was just incredible, the best breakfast I have experienced in any hotel in Europe, on par with the Hilton in Dubrovnik where I bike toured to last Fall. The breakfast at the Asam even had French champagne on the buffet. It was incredulous how great this breakfast buffet was...had everything The hotel was a nice 10-15 min walk to Old Town in Straubing and the Asam reception gave me a nice map to follow. I highly recommend this hotel.

The only thing I could recommend would be improving the bed pillows which seem to be prevalent throughout every hotel I've stayed so far in France, Switzerland and Germany. Pillows have no support, feel like they are stuffed with cotton or just foam.

Actually everything was just excellent. We couldn't find anything , that didn't fit at all. We believe to be your quest again and that maybe 2-3 times a year. Straubing was the first time on our route and also very nice to us

We really liked the room which was spacious and the bed was comfortable. Part of the hotel eg where breakfast was served is so beautiful. The staff were so attentive and friendly and we got our parking spot reserved with our name on it!!

Room: At first glance clean and extra welcome detail on the bed. Altough making the mistake to not book the breakfast i did paid upon arrival to add it. It is by FAR the most tasty breakfast i've ate in a hotel. Choices for everyone. Spa or Wellness Section of the hotel was great and so were the massages I booked. It would be foolish to no mention the Staff, they are friendly, polite and go above and beyond to facilitate your stay. They were flexible enough to let me check out later due to my schedule.

This property was fabulous. It had everything to make my stay perfect…I really mean perfect..It was clean,spacious,great location,quiet..The staff were wonderful and the breakfast was exceptionally good..

There was absolutely nothing to dislike..

Excellent facilities. Beautiful hotel and staff were exceptionally friendly. Would highly recommend. 15 min walk to centre of Straubing.

no kettle, no attempt to encourage use of public transport - a 'sustainable' hotel should mention that it can be reached without a car (Straubing has a good train service and is on the Danube bike route)
