Hotel Fines proved to be an excellent choice for our stay in the area. The staff took great care of us right from check-in, offering genuinely enthusiastic and helpful recommendations when we asked about trekking routes. Our room was well-equipped, quiet, and peaceful, providing a very comfortable night's sleep. We booked the half-board option, and the dinner was a true highlight of our stay. The food was delicious, especially the South Tyrolean dumplings recommended by a staff member; they were fragrant with cheese and were honestly more flavorful than any others we tried elsewhere.

There are, however, a couple of things to be aware of for a smoother stay. The hotel has a fairly strict schedule for dinner time, so if you are on the half-board plan, it's a good idea to plan your day's activities accordingly. Additionally, like many traditional guesthouses in the region, the property does not have an elevator. This is not unusual, but it does mean it's wise to pack smart, particularly if you are traveling with heavy luggage. These were minor points and did not detract from our overall wonderful experience.

The sud-tirol bus pass was invaluable to me,,since I do not drive. It enabled me to travel far and wide to exxplore this awesomw area, bus stop was very near to hotel. The local information given to me on arrival regarding bus timetables and suggested walking routes was very handy.Breakfast was a substantial start to the day, tasty and plenty of variety.

Room window was a skylight in the roof - I needed to get on the chair to reach up to open it each evening a flow of air during the night was essential due to the very high temperature

It was an excellent place to rest after active hiking in the Dolomites. The room was clean and comfortable, with a beautiful view from the balcony. The bathroom was also clean and stocked with essential items like shampoo and soap. The staff were very friendly and even upgraded my room category for free, as larger rooms were available. On the ground floor, there is a restaurant where you can enjoy traditional Tyrolean dishes. Breakfast is served buffet-style — it’s simple, but more than enough to start the day well. About 30 minutes from the hotel, there is a photo point with the famous panoramic view of Santa Maddalena and the mountains.

Personally, I found the check-out time a bit too early - 10 a.m.

The hotel has a wonderful charm and I really liked they kept the Tyrolean traditions alive in the decor and in their food mixed with a contemporary twist. The hosts are excellent and are very welcoming, very helpful and open to suggesting excursions and recommending hiking routes and activities. They clearly have a passion for sharing their Tyrolean culture with visitors and it’s so great that local produce is always used and they promote local farms and markets.

We stayed in one of the apartments down the street from the hotel. The property had ample parking and the apartment itself was very spacious. The apartment was well equipped for cooking our own food. On nights where we were too tired to cook we ate at the hotel restaurant, the food was delicious. Location was convenient to other parts of the Dolomites, as well as catching the bus to the base of the trails nearby. Check-in was quick and easy, very friendly and helpful explaining everything we could do in the area.

We were under the impression we could pay for breakfast by day and wanted to only on the last day before checkout. There was confusion on whether that was possible and ended up getting charged an arbitrary amount because they couldn’t get a hold of someone who might know better. Just FYI if you are to do the same, ask for clarification upon arrival.

Lovely hotel in a quaint village. Very close to the bus stop, delicious food and friendly smiley staff. We stayed in one of their apartments which is a 5-10 min walk from the main building and that was a little bit of a hassle but the staff were accommodating in case we wanted to bring a hot meal home with us after a long day of hiking.

The only trouble we had was at breakfast time - if you dont stay in the main building and don’t pre-order breakfast you run the risk of being turned away for having seats available. The choice you have is rather limited too. There aren’t any other places in the village to get breakfast, so pre-order or make your own breakfast.

We stayed in an apartment with a wonderful view of the Dolomites. It has a spacious balcony/terrace and is in a perfect location -- very close to the bus stop and of course, to the various tourist attractions and hiking routes in the area. There is also small grocery store nearby. The hotel staff are also very nice, helpful and accommodating. I highly recommend the place. 🙂

It was my 3rd time here (previously this was Gasthof Edelweiss) - discovered that it's been taken over by a new management few years back. Hanes and every staff were friendly and welcoming. I was assigned a room with a balcony overlooking the mountains and valley - was given a pass for free bus ride. I booked 4-nights with half-board. Breakfast spread was good. The 3-course dinner was absolutely delicious and varied each night - could see lots of effort and heart put into its preparation, a joyful dining experience! Wishing Hanes and your team continue the great job in what you do. Hope to return again!

Nothing.

We stayed in the apartments and really liked this option. It was nice to be able to cook some meals to save money, with a little grocery store about a 5 minute walk away. We had a nice little balcony with some views of the mountains. It was small, but cozy. Would stay again. Also, Santa Magdalena is located close to many hiking trail options.

Hotel Fines is a bit expensive, but that just seems to be the case with the entire area.

The hotel had a stunning view of the mountains and meadows, with a beautiful and peaceful setting. I recommend it to anyone looking for tranquility. Hikes to nearby peaks could be organized. The kitchenette was fully equipped, but there was no microwave. The apartment was clean. The food was of high quality with a typical Tyrolean atmosphere.
