Excellent property from Taj in Coonor. An old mansion expanded and upgraded to luxury hotel. We stayed in Deluxe room and was spacious to accomodate a family of 4. The buffet breakfast which was complimentary had wide spread of items. Property is strategically located and away from traffic and noise. The staff from front office, through restaurant to housekeeping always welcome you with a smile are were really welcoming and available at service. Worth mentioning the help and guidance extended by Management trainee Subhakesh. He was very cordial, guided and even walked us to some nearby attractions outside property. He explained the history of mansion and helped us plan our itinerary during our stay at the property.

Though the rooms were spacious with all amenities the bathroom had some issues. The drainage was partially clogged leading to water lodging inside bathroom. Also power disruption happened couple of times during stay and backup did not kick in instantaneously. Be prepared to stay in darkness for a while. Restaurant charges seemed to be not value for money as the rates felt highly overpriced.

I stayed in hotel Gateway Coonoor, Tamil Nadu accompanying my elderly parents from 12-14 April 2024. I am happy with staying in this heritage hotel and really felt privileged to be a part of the history. As the campus started in the year 1857 and after several changes of ownerships Taj group owned the property in 1990. I liked the hotel because the Taj group maintained the sprawling old campus splendidly keeping the heritage and historical background keeping old trees, nurturing shrubs and grasses flanked with gardens with blossomed flowers of various hues. Apart from it the view of the surrounding hills from the hotel is splendid and celestial. Interestingly the Guest room allotted to me was in a typical colonial type bangalow which was built in 1929 . I liked the Room as it has a entrance hall with wall to wall French glass windows and rich furnishing. Main bedroom was very spacious separated from the hall by a French glass door. Elegantly furnished with white marble topped furniture. The room decoration was simple but very elegant. Wash room was large and richly finished. Food was good and tasty. Complementary buffet breakfast was good with large no of spread of food items. Staffs were cordial. However Hotel Service requires little bit attention of the management.

The hotel needs more staff to suffice the demand

The Best Taj we've stayed at!! We experienced the Real Taj Hospitality.. Everything and everyone was absolutely fantastic! We travelled with our pet for whom the hotel provided a bed , pillow ,duvet and a bowl..Thankyou.. It was very heart warming to see a true pet friendly place . We also travelled with our parents who were very comfortable and loved the evening Bonfire. The food , Restaurant decor and service was excellent and had a personal touch. We forgot something in the room which was found by housekeeping during cleaning. The hotel mailed it to our home address and didn't let me pay for the courier charges even after insisting on paying.. Thank you for making our trip so memorable and comfortable. We will definitely visit again!

Had a wonderful time with family. We celebrated our wedding anniversary and the hotel management and staff made it so special. The place is spectacular with manicured lawns and this big beautiful purple bougainvillea tree as the main attraction. The place had an old world charm to it. The hotel management and staff deserve top marks in hospitality. They provided some good guidance to us about touring the place. The food was delicious and wholesome. The waiting staff was very attentive and alert, ready to assist. The housekeeping staff cleaned the room very professionally and even decorated it for our anniversary, very sweet of them. All in all, it was a very pleasant stay thanks to the hotel management and staff who made it that way.

The lawn, the bonfire, the walk at night during misty night (we stayed for 2 nights and it rained both nights - amazing experience). The staff is very polite and helpful. They have a small activity room with a pool table, carrom and a TT table which is OK. My kid was very excited, playing with the ducks and swings. Food was good in quality and taste. Of course not as lavish as a 5 star.

We got a free upgrade. The room 303 is so spacious, the bathroom alone is like a bedroom. Free use of pool and table tennis, a nice library, and some carrom and chess make good recreational opportunity. An excellent cafeteria and restaurant is within walking distance from the property. Staff are nice and friendly.

The gym can be better. There's only one restaurant, an additional bar or Bistro could be added. No buffet dinner or lunch was available

The Ambience was very good.. staffs were very nice and supportive.. they responded promptly.. activities like magic show, diwali celebrations.. bursting crackers were organised very well.. it was a very pleasant and memorable stay with kids and family.. Moreover Not to miss the dining.. Food was extra ordinary.. hospitality of the chef and the staffs were amazing.. so many varieties, good quality and tasted yummy.. hats off to the entire crew.. 👏 👌 we really enjoyed..

The cleanliness of the restroom should be noticed nuke and corner. Otherwise nothing to complained...

Location was amazing… green and secluded. The staff was amazing. Friendly and welcoming. Always with a smile and ready to help. This is a must do again experience.

Loved everything about the property

Everything. I loved everything about this place. The people, food, location. Everything was perfect. The best part is they are truly pet-friendly and which is why I will recommend them to everyone.

Nothing that I did not like. I wish it was little more budget-friendly. But it’s still great!

Everything and everyone was beyond exemplary . Kannan and Jitesh out of the world...we had booked a car for a dinner at a friend's place at the army staff quarters...the car was to arrive at 20.15. When it didn't, we were worried that we would be late. Kannan just did not hesitate and asked Jitesh to drop us 4 kms away in dense fog....amazing service to say the least
