We had the ‘Kiss’ room, which was wonderful in every way. The bathroom had both a bath and separate shower unit. Lovely four poster bed. Great balcony to sit out on, which also had a sliding partition to the adjoining balcony if required - we had family in the next room so it was ideal (their room ‘Zen’ was also lovely with a shower room, no bath). It was wonderful to have a swimming pool too (not heated). The whole property is very well maintained. The owners, Nathalie & Alex, were wonderful hosts. Nathalie speaks good English. She was very approachable & we also borrowed towels for the pool. Breakfast was lovely (croissants, yogurts, cereal, bread, ham, cheese) and the Restaurant food was delicious too.

Nothing. You would benefit from hiring a car if you have small children or mobility problems as it’s in a rural spot. We didn’t hire a car as we walked nearly everywhere. Campagne is a short walk away with a beautiful chateau, extensive grounds and hill walking (amazing views) and it has a bar and two lovely restaurants - one was open at lunchtime, the other in the evening). It took us 45mins-1 hr to walk along the river to Le Bugue, which is a hive of activity. It took even longer to walk to Les Eyvies (very pretty) but we enjoyed it using Google maps.

Le Moulin du Porteil is a delightful converted old walnut oil mill with many original features and well situated for exploring the Dordogne. Our hosts, Nath and Alex, were very welcoming, friendly and helpful and ensured that we were well catered for during our 9 night stay. Our room "Zen" was very spacious, with a relaxing decor, super comfortable bed and excellent ensuite. The attached private balcony with small sofa, chairs and table was a great place to relax after a day's activities visiting the many attractions of the beautiful Vezere and Dordogne valleys. There is also a good size pool with sun loungers situated in a lovely location in the grounds - a very welcome cool down after the heat of the day - it was extremely hot when we stayed in July! The breakfast buffet provided a good range of choices and could be enjoyed either inside or the pretty tree shaded terrace outside. Nath is happy to provide for dietary needs. There was also a special Swiss dining menu 3 nights a week which was delicious and fun! When not eating in the restaurant, we found many good restaurants locally in Les Eyzies and Le Bugue. Campagne itself also has two restaurants as well as a lovely Chateaux and grounds which are free to visit. We had a great stay at Le Moulin du Porteil and certainly recommend it to others.

It was exceptionally hot while we were there and, although we had a fan, air conditioning would have been a beneficial addition to the room.

What a great place to stay. A lovely setting, great hosts and a wonderful evening of table d'hote where we all 12 for dinner sat at the one table. Great fun, exercised the french and we stayed on a friday evening so it was a BBQ type evening. The food was excellent, the company great. It really was a fun stay.

We enjoyed our stay at Le Moulin Portel hidden out of town with large gardens and a welcome pool. Even though it was on a busy road our rooms were completely quiet. Comfortable beds, private balcony and large bathroom was appreciated. A cold beer on tap was welcome after our hot bike ride. A lovely breakfast was served by our friendly host.

A restaurant is on site but not open every night. Our host recommended a good restaurant 7 km away. Check in is not until 5pm.

The Swiss hosts are very friendly and the B&B with its numerous parking spaces is very well located as a base for numerous excursions in the beautiful Périgord. The rooms are clean and big enough for a longer stay.

Unfortunately, the room "Kiss" had no air conditioning. In high summer temperatures, the room gets (too) very warm. The fan only helped to a limited extent. As the balcony is above the restaurant seating area, it was always very noisy until midnight and very bright because of the light. We had to close the roller shutter as the outside temperature was already high. We recommend the hosts to make sure that the other guests are less disturbed from +/- 22:00 and to cover the balcony floor, so that no light shines through. Air conditioning would make the room temperatures much more comfortable! Then you could also keep the roller shutter closed and the noise and light would be an acceptable problem. The approach (ramp) to the western car park is only accessible from the eastern side (should be signposted / communicated as such). A filled coffee pot would be more pleasant for the morning meal instead of the guest having to order cups. And finally ... for feedback, please ask after the morning meal or when checking out. Not every guest wants to be overwhelmed with questions at the morning meal ;-)

Fabulous pool, great location, comfortable beds, warm welcome from hosts.

Kitchen a bit small when catering for 8 (no oven or microwave). Totally understand the need for pool rules but shame kids couldn’t jump in or throw a ball about even when other guests not using it. Upstairs rooms got quite hot, even with a fan.
