This is a lovely historic hotel with lots of original features and loads of character in what is a beautiful town set between two gorges. The room we had had a balcony at the rear of the property and it gave us a stunning view over the Huecar Gorge. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and buffet breakfast looked good although we only opted for coffee and toast (4 Euros each). The dining room is beautiful and has the same view and some outdoor seating too. We had dinner in the restaurant one evening and it too was excellent and reasonably priced as well. There is no parking at the hotel but there is a free car park at the top of the hill near the Castillo (10 mins walk). We would love to stay here again and highly recommend it. There is lots to see in the area too.

There were no tea/coffee making facilities or a fridge in the room but there is a bar and restaurant so I guess that's what they are thinking about.

This place was an amazing find. We booked 2 Superior rooms and had spectacular views of the hanginging houses over the gorge. Our teenagers had a huge room with 2 sofas so they were happy and we had a room with two balconies and spent a lot of time hanging out there. The Posada is just up from the main square so we walked everywhere. This hotel had a lot of stairs and quirkey challenges (our room was slanted), so for travelers looking for a polished hotel should stay elsewhere, but for us we were happy with the uniqueness of this one of a kind boutique Posada de San Jose.

We loved everything.

The views over the gorge are incredible, and the hotel has a very authentic, historic feel (the building is an old school from the 1600s I believe). This is what you're paying for. Outside of that the room is very basic

Facilities are dated - a simple kettle in the room, or coffee making facility in the lobby, really wouldn't be hard to add. Complete lack of vegan choices on the menu meant we couldn't dine. Small changes could really level this place up!

This is a fabulous historical house dating from the 1600s. It was built for Juan Bautista Martinez de Mazo, student of Velazquez and later his son in law. (and possibly, artist of some Velazquez paintings?) It is perched on the edge of the River Júcar gorge. Our balcony has a magnificent view of the gorge, the parador of Cuenca & Gustaf Eiffel’s steel bridge (not for the faint-hearted!). It is centrally located, close to the Plaza Mayor, Cathedral, Casas Colgadas, museums etc. It is a very welcoming place. The rooms are comfortable & wonderfully evocative of the history of the house. The buffet breakfast was generous and located in a room with stunning views of the gorge. If you had no other reason for going to Cuenca, this house alone is worth the visit.

I was in Room 33 for 2 nights to see this old city. The room was spacious with a huge double bed and I had 2 balconies to myself! The hotel is in a very wonderfully converted old church building and is well placed near Plaza Mayor to see the main sights of the old city. For a short tourist visit it is ideal.

I would have preferred something hot for breakfast but there was certainly a good selection to choose from. The hotel restaurant was also closed for the 2 days I was there so I am not sure what is happening there....but the adjacent restaurant The Piola Gastrobar was an excellent restaurant for evening meals in the same building as the hotel next door.

The view from the bedroom was spectacular, especially at night when buildings were lit up. The property was very interesting in itself and well located for seeing everything in the town. Reception staff were friendly and helpful as were the cleaning staff.

The rooms being old (and we did ask for the mountain views) were a bit small so, as we were travelling with friends, somewhere to sit together in the evening would have been good. Thre was one area but this was obviously seen more as a passage to the restaurant and so there were not many seats.

This hotel is in a beautiful location with excellent views. I could have sat for hours on our terrace drinking coffee, but the restaurant views were equally gorgeous. Our room was comfortable and spacious with what I assume was a prayer nook with a window. The only downside was that the showerhead wouldn’t stay upright in the bathroom. But everything else, from staff to facilities, was fantastic.

Fantastic location right in the heart of the old town. Spacious room. Beautiful historic building. Fabulous views. Great food. Friendly and helpful reception staff.

Would have been nice to have facility in room to make own tea and coffee. Maybe mini bar in room or available in public area. Also, staff in restaurant could have given a warmer welcome at times.

Fantastic in all respects. Very centrally located in the old city, under 5 minutes walk to the Plaza Mayor and the Barrio del Castillo. Easy check-in, friendly and helpful staff. Large and comfortable rooms with incredible views over the gorge and towards the hanging houses. Immaculately clean throughout. Parking is always challenging in the old city but they have an agreement with a public car park on Calle San Pedro, a 3-4 minute walk from the hotel, so you can park for 24h for €17 and enter/leave as often as you like.

We didn't have the breakfast so can't comment. Otherwise everything was excellent.
