Great location. Town had everything we needed with easy links to Cambridge on bus way for £2 each. Nice walk to Houghton along the thickit which took about 45 minutes. Room was very clean, nicely decorated and bed super comfy. Was lovely to have doors opening up looking over the meadow and watching the wildlife. Lots of plugs and charging points and really spacious room with easy access. Plenty of parking. Staff were friendly.

Down sides, toilet didn't flush and we had a shower that was too hot to use. Spoke to reception who said they would send maintenence but issues weren't corrected. Breakfast was well laid out and lots to choose from but the hot food was not hot apart from the Saturday. Sadly there was lots of work going on in the main building so we're not able to relax and u wind on site.

Room was very spacious, clean and comfortable with 2 armchairs. An ironing board, hairdryer were supplied. The bedding was clean and fresh and maid came every day to tidy up, supply dry towels, loo rolls etc. Plenty of points for chargers etc. Lovely view across the meadow. Ensuite shower room also spacious. The his and hers basins were inset into a surface so there was room for cosmetics etc to sit close by. The basins were set too high for me at 5ft tall - must have been installed by a 7ft giant! But overall the accommodation was great. The only disappointment was the restaurant and bar area were still not fully open. The hotel could be more than excellent if the restaurant and bar could be fully staffed and open. But I realise that is difficult these days. The location is stunning and unique.

Just the fact the bar and restaurant areas were not properly open. You could order breakfast in the restaurant, but it was not open for lunch or dinner. The restaurant has superb views, so that was a disappointment and meant you always had to go out looking for snacks and meals. That is no big deal, unless it is bad weather.

It is difficult to review the Dolphin as it is in the process of being modernised. Our twin room, which we were probably the first to occupy, was clean and spacious with an excellent bathroo, including a large walk-in shower. The staff were universally pleasant, and the chef came in on Boxing Day to make us breakfast. There was no restaurant or bar, which was not a problem as we were spending most of our time with family in St Ives. The Dolphin is situated on the banks of the river, just over the bridge from the town. It is a lovely situation in summer.

Beautiful location, alongside the river and near the shops. We had a room overlooking the fields, sheep, birds, including heron, boats - little veranda/balcony- it was great for relaxing. Big room, comfy bed, big TV. The young gentleman on reception was outstanding - so helpful. It was a pleasure to stay at the Dolphin Hotel and we'll definitely be back. Recommended.

Restaurant doesn't serve meals at the moment (might be undergoing some improvements?).

Fantastic room, Newly refurbished and a great view of the river. We were greeted warmly by Seetsa who was so helpful. It was spotlessly clean and very comfortable and in a quiet location. There is a lot of renovation going on so some areas of the hotel are closed off at the present time.

Breakfast was disappointing. We were greeted by a person with a dirty cloth in his hand. We had pre ordered our breakfast on a request sheet and an allocated time but it was self service, our friend ordered vegan sausages and I had ordered scrambled eggs and we had to request them again. I had to ask for milk for the cereal (which wasn't very nice) the bread for toast was dry. We were staying for 2 nights so opted to go elsewhere the second morning even though we had paid a total of £40 for 2 days (£10 pp)

Beautifully recently refurbished room. We had a stunning view across the fields and river. Room had most things we needed. Fantastic location for visiting St Ives. There is work being carried out and it is clear to see that this will be a stunning venue when completed. The room we were allocated was well away from building work so there was no disruption for us. The one staff member we encountered was incredibly polite and helpful and made us feel welcomed

A few minor things that would improve the room. Small side lights by bed. The main light was obviously new and lovely but is incredibly bright. A side light for reading would be good. A mirror in the main room. There is only one in the bathroom and one in the main room would be useful.

We loved the room, lovely view of the lake.The bar was neat and again a lovely view . Big bath, which was why we booked the executive King room. The room was very clean . We were allowed to park early in there which allowed us to explore the town and grab some lunch before checking in . There was a big party in the function bar but we didn’t hear anything in our room . Loved watching the swans .

This is a comfortable hotel in an excellent location by the river. We had a good breakfast

It was disappointing that the restaurant was closed for refurbishment and that the bar had a poor selection of beer. The only draught bitter was not available leaving just one lager and one cider. The bathroom door needed the bottom planing off so that it did not get stuck on the tiles and make it difficult to close.

ROOM WAS BVERY COMFORTABLE

Breakfast was over cooked as the kitchen was not working and it was buffet style which probably been there since breakfast started at 7am. We were not told about until we read the paper we were handed at reception after paying for breakfast. if we had known earlier we would not have purchased the meal and gone else where for breakfast paid no more and got a decent breakfast.

Service! We were welcomed in the reception by Seetsa. What a lovely, warm and yet professional welcome it was. If it wasn’t for Seetsa I would give this hotel much lower rating. He went above and beyond to help. Seetsa is so professional and polite and his attention to detail is exceptional. That’s what we need in this country, especially in hospitality industry- professionalism with some personal touch and lovely manners. Thank you for everything, Seetsa!
