We arrived late after a long delay on the M5, to be met by the smiling, friendly Margaret, who made us feel very welcome. As we were leaving early next day to cycle to Plymouth on the Devon coast to coast ride and would've missed breakfast, Margaret brought croissants, yoghurts and fruit juice etc to our room for the next morning, and even put in a small fridge for us, service above and beyond for such a small hotel. The family room was a good size for the three of us and was great with a couple of comfy chairs and table. For the excellent price, we felt that this was amazing value for money and the hotel was in great condition, a lovingly well cared for imposing Victorian building. We certainly heartily recommend Cairn House as a fab place to stay in Ilfracombe and if back for a visit, look forward to staying there again.

Haven’t stayed in a Guest House since my teen years, but staying in Cairn house reminded me of how good it is. Great interaction with the owners from the moment I walked through the door. Plenty of parking spaces for each of the guests. Prime location, as only a 10/15 minute walk into the heart of Ilfracombe. Breakfast was fantastic and kept you full way past lunchtime. If you are visiting Ilfracombe, I would recommend staying at Cairn House.

Everything Excellent..... from the free parking, location, exceptionally friendly and informative hosts, the size of the room and comfy bed an extra blanket or fan as needed, ironing board, tea/ coffee, a stunning building, 100% cleanliness, 100% breakfast...(even catered for Gluten Free.) Amazing views. ( the one from our room shown in picture) Wifi..bus stop just outside, local taxis available.. Would highly recommend...nothing to fault. X ❤️

Absolutely exceptional experience. Staff were super friendly and always seemed to be on-site when needed. Gave great tips on places to visit. The stay felt very personal — staff remembered what room we were staying in and our breakfast/drinks preferences every morning. Would definitely recommend and stay again!

Easy enough walk to the high street, but would recommend travelling by car for ease of access to everywhere else.

This lovely place and friendly staff made our stay exceptionally memorable, and we had an enjoyable walk down town to the restaurant. Were glad to get a bus back though.

Access by car to the property is exceedingly difficult - a steep hill and acute corners. I guess that's part of Devon life. But that is a small consideration compared with its ambience, friendly staff, and excellent room and breakfast. This is a place that will stay in my memory for a lot longer than most others.

I received a warm welcome on arrival. The bedroom was comfortable and spacious with ensuite bathroom. Breakfast was excellent! It's a lovely old house, well maintained and very clean. Although St Brannocks Road is one of the main routes into the town there was no traffic noise. Parking was good. I would definitely choose to stay here again in the future. One thing to be aware of is that the driveway is quite steep and curved at the top and bottom. Be careful when leaving the premises as main road visibility is limited. I found it best to emerge slowly with my hazard lights flashing. This is true of all the houses on that section of the road so it's not something that could be easily changed. It's a historic 'feature'.

Very hospitable hosts, so helpful and friendly and welcoming. Room was spacious and comfortable and a fan was provided in this hot weather. Breakfast was great, plenty of choice and lovely restaurant area.

It is further from town than it appears on a map and on a rather steep hill. The 20 min walk down is fine but the 20 walk back up is killer. Also the parking, VERY steep and very hard to manoeuvre on the steep narrow bends/inclines. Bathroom was too small.

This was a lovely place to stay. We booked the king room which was superb and very spacious and clean with a coffee expresso machine included and a very comfortable bed. The cooked breakfast was superb with many options of cereals and yogurt if not a fan of a cooked breakfast. Margaret was a great host and gave us information on what was happening in the town and the pubs.

There was amply parking spaces and it was only a 10-15 minute walk into Ilfracombe. Breakfast was very nice. Owners were very friendly, all of which made for an enjoyable stay.

Upgraded to a double room on the top floor. Nice room although space was tight around the bed but fine for a single occupant. Lovely hot water and fabulous shower. Margaret was extremely nice and breakfasts were great.

Loud talking outside my bedroom window on my first night till 11pm which inhibited sleep. Unfortunately I needed to have the window open due to hot weather Towels were a bit tired and scratchy.
