I loved it. You Cannot predict the weather on the Washington coast. Very few if any resorts have an outdoor ‘heated’ pool. The forecast for the week forecasted excellent weather. That did Not happen. I was there with my 4 grandchildren and daughter. That pool was a saving grace! They had the best time ever! I had envisioned daily treks down the resorts trail to the beach with picnic supplies and daily adventures. It only happened once with magnificent pictures of kite flying amongst heavy fog. It was glorious even though it was only happened the one time. Will I plan it again?? AbSoLuTeLy..!!!!!

I loved everything about the property. The pool is a little dated so if you’re expecting something really grand ..for me ..for my grandkids ..it was!!

The property is an old building, however it showed that they were continuing to make updates and welcome the summer busy season of vacationers. There was a new fountain feature in the front entrance with rock path and cute wooden bridge followed by two stools & bar top to sit & take in the beauty. The side of the building had construction of wooden planter boxes that were finished during our stay. They turned out beautiful. The employees are all friendly and happy including front desk, pool cleaner, maintenance, house keeping. It showed that the company tried to treat their staff well & keep them happy. There is a beautiful well maintained garden path cut through the back of hotel leading to the beach. It gives this glorious vibe of being in a secret garden winding around corners revealing dark & light sky & flowers & little treasure like bird eggs on the ground. The beach behind the hotel is sectioned off where no cars can drive. This allows for less busy section & even safer for little children. The pool & hot tub is always a favorite, but this company doesn’t stop there. They give seating cushions, pool toys, & towels. The hotel created an elegant lit up ambiance of pool at night & paths leading to it. The design of hotel is focused around the pool & viewable to all rooms & balconies. There is no room in this hotel without a pretty view, but they don’t stop there. There is a barbecue grill for use, a fire pit with stocked fire wood, & a beautifully maintained lawn for playing games with your kids. This hotel focuses on little details that are such sweet and thoughtful nice touches including beach toys for your young child to borrow, to little stars on the sealing of the bedroom when the lights go out. As I stated in the beginning this is an older hotel and not every room has state of the art new furniture or wood floor.

This old building has great charm. The older furniture is not a bother. There is carpet throughout which is little tougher for cleaning family spills. The pull out couch bed is quite old and lumpy, however not too bad to sleep on the couch for most children. The only tough thing is the small toilet. As in older houses, toilets are low to the ground & very small. It works well for young children, but for a full grown man it provides its challenges. All in all these are not by any means deal breakers. Pictures are online of each room and expectations are set before arrival. If it does not meet the expectation, then do not stay, but you will be missing out.

I did not want to leave! The place was clean and cozy with so many thoughtful touches. The bed was so, so comfirtable. The kitchen was well stocked with all the appliances and tools and dishes I might need. They even had a bag for our dog with a blanket, towels, food bowls and treats to make her feel at home. The walk to the beach starts like a trip through a magical forest, but in the wet season, bring your boots! Love it! It rained our whole visit and the fireplace was very much appreciated. Even our dog was so well behaved uncharacteristically quiet. She was clearly so happy there as well.

I have to confess, the dining room lights were so bright, we loosened 4 of the 5 light bulbs (making it perfect) but forgot to tighten them. I hope they tightened them instead of assuming the had burned out

It is a dog friendly facility. we always take the same unit so we know what we are getting.

$25. a night pet fee is excessive for EVERY night. thinking a Per Stay would be better for multiple nights especially after repeated visits we have proven to be responsible pet/owners. would like to have a broom and dustpan in the room. I have asked for them at the front desk, but it was to be used and returned. we try to get as much sand off of our shoes at the numerous well placed outdoor "brush units." Coasters would be useful. I travel with y own nightlights.

Very cozy apartment, great fireplace, on the upper floor so there was actually a bit of a water view, unlike most of Ocean Shores dune hotels. Kitchen well stocked, everything was clean, armchair was very comfy, smart tv was appreciated! The hot tub was on and available for use (outdoor) even in Dec, though I didn't use it. Grey Gull is predictable and comfortable; I've stayed many times.

Everything was clean, though some things felt a bit dated (normal for Grey Gull and the rest of Ocean Shores really), and one outlet wasn't working. I have no real complaints - I enjoyed my stay very much.

Staff was really nice and provided excellent customer service. Room was clean and furnishings acceptable for having a pets. Bed was super comfy! We had a view since it was on the 3rd floor. Well stocked full kitchen. We could walk through the dunes to the ocean. Pool closed for winter, but lovely, well kept hot tub available to enjoy. Close to town. We will be back. Really a hidden treasure.

Pet fee was for each night of the stay, added up for 2 dogs. 50 dollars a day. 200 bucks total. It seems like it should be a set fee for the stay.

Wonderful bed and bedding. Very quiet.. We had been traveling a week prior and stayed at motels so it was great to have room to stretch out and do a load of laundry. Bathroom and shower were good. We also walked to the local IGA And purchased some groceries and deli items to have meals. There were plenty of pans and utensils for preparing meals. There was a keurig in the room with coffee supplies and more coffee supplies available in the lobby, there were also DVDs you could check out to watch. It is my understanding that they’re all privately owned so each one could be a little different. We stayed in room 111. There was a walking pier by the beach two doors down at the Shiloh but we had socked in fog and rain the day we stayed so we’re not able to visit the beach. There was a pool, spa, sauna outside bbq area that we also didn’t utilize due to the weather. All the staff we came across were so helpful with guiding us toward places to go and things to do. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Good customer service is harder and harder to get these days, but they did a stellar job.

There was no air conditioning or fan in the room and only one very small crank window to open for fresh air so it got really stuffy even though the weather outside was cool. The vertical blinds in our room were very thin and the pool area was outside our rear windows so it was hard to get our room dark without the bright lights from the pool area shining through. It was difficult to find something we didn’t like about the property though compared to what we did like about it.

We've stayed at a lot of "pet friendly" hotels, but have to say this was the best for pet friendly. The Grey Gull provided us with a pet pack that had a pet dish, blanket, towel, treats and more for our dogs! They even provided a pet sheet for the bed so our dog would be allowed on the bed if we so desired. So thoughtful and appreciated!!! We had such a nice stay. The kitchen was well equipped. We had everything we needed, the room was comfortable and the fireplace was nice and cozy. We will definitely be back!

We had a room with a view, but the view was a distance from the beach. We had a third floor room with no pets in the vicinity. (This was excellent for us.). The sauna experience was clean and comfortable, the best sauna we ever had at a hotel. The hotel operated as a true resort - the pool was actually heated warm, chidren were restricted from the hot tub and sauna and the hours were from 10 am - 10 pm - no exceptions! The room was actually an apartment and was very spacious. The kitchen was fully equipped and also a good size. There were towels for the pool and in the sauna. In the lobby there were hot drinks - coffee, tea, apple cider and hot chocolate. Walking distance to the beach was not far. There was a DVD player and a good selection of DVDs. We had a wonderful time and certainly will stay the Grey Gull if and when we return to Ocean Shores. Thank you to our check in hostess and the very friendly and helpful staff!

Everything was great!

Oddly enough, what I liked most was that the chairs in the room were extremely comfortable. I am disabled and cannot actually sleep in a bed, only my spouse can. So, I had to put the two chairs together to sleep and they were so comfortable that I have never had that experience before. I slept like a baby!!

I did not actually get the room that was portrayed on the website as far as what I paid for. I was expecting a much larger suite than what I actually received and what I paid for.
