Nice clean hotel , spacious rooms and good facilities , lighting options inthe room are nice and the temperature was comfortable. Spent some time in the pool in the morning and health club is excellent. Dinner was very good and amazingly quick to come.after ordering .. Breakfast was good and as always most hotels sell unspecial coffee.. no exceptions on that here.

I never do like hotels with loooong runs of corridors. Went to bed early with the kids and was awake during the evening. Lots of noise and drunk people.shouting in the corridors (totally antisocial) , even had two separate incidents of idiots knocking on everydoor as they drunkenly made their way to the bar.. (total tools). Nothing against the hotel I suppose and tools will always be tools regardless of where you put them .

The room was very big with a spacious bathroom. Comfortable beds and clean bedsheets. If you are going by bicycle from Amsterdam – you will be amazed by the beauty of the route.

Due to renovation window view was very sad. Probably hotels like this should deserve here a proper 6 but because of crazy amount of strange accommodations on booking.com negative area is now spreading between 1 and 7, so this hotel on the highway in the middle of nowhere with a dusty spider web across the mirror receives 8.

Great visit to the Netherlands, good facility and location.Friendly staff. I had to book 2 rooms to fit my 4 people family, and they offered me connected rooms that helped the logistics at bedtime. Amazing quality breakfast. 20 minutes drive from Amsterdam Noord. Great quality bed with black-out curtains with a lovely small balcony to chill. Empty mini fridge available in the room for guests.

However, the water pressure of the wall shower is low, and some guests did not respect the quiet times at night, talking loud and laughing in the hallway to the rooms.

I recently stayed at Van der Valk Hotel in Volendam and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The hotel is located in a beautiful area with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The staff was incredibly welcoming and went out of their way to ensure that I felt comfortable and had everything I needed during my stay. The rooms were spacious, clean, and tastefully decorated, with all the amenities one would expect from a top-notch hotel. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and I slept like a baby. The breakfast buffet was delicious, with a wide variety of fresh and tasty options to choose from except for a warm hearty meal that I'm used to for breakfast. The hotel's location is also a big plus, as it's just a short stroll away from the charming village of Volendam, with its quaint shops and bustling harbor.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Although located in Volendam (5 minutes by car to Volendam or Edam centre and 15 minutes to Marken) I would still recommend it to people visiting Amsterdam since a bus trip to Amsterdam's central station takes only 20 minutes. Being outside Amsterdam's centre this hotel offers more benefits than hotels located in the busy city centre, it offers free parking and much larger than usual rooms which also come with balconies overlooking the country side. Rooms are also very clean and peaceful.

Nothing to dislike about this property

A great location for our last night in the Netherlands, 5 minutes from beautiful Volendam, around 40 minutes from Schiphol, and around 20 minutes from our final destination at Zaanse Schans. Van der Valk Hotel is a large chain-hotel that will appeal to corporate as well as leisure visitors. Facilities are very good (although we didn't stay long enough to use them) and staff are very friendly and helpful. Located outside Volendam, there's lots of free car parking available, and access directly to the highway network. Our room was very large and comfortable although the twin beds weren't that comfy. We loved the black-out curtains though, which enabled us to get a pretty good nights sleep before our flight home the next morning

The room wasn't quite ready for us when we checked in and we had to ask reception to restock tea and milk. Nothing major admittedly, but the reception team did take some convincing for some reason!

They have cracked the code in creating a relaxed, inviting and friendly atmosphere. The service is excellent and the restaurant is great. We were celebrating my mum's 80th birthday there for the weekend and the whole family had a really wonderful time.

Its quite warm in the hotel so would be good to have a bit more ventilation but other than that everything is really great.

It is a great hotel with a huge pool (that our kids greatly appreciated). Very friendly staff. Huge rooms. We asked for interconnecting rooms, and the hotel accommodated our request. The hotel is a bit dated, but clean. The restaurant on site is wonderful. We had dinner there, all dishes were great. And breakfast exceeded all expectations: they had 5 different egg dishes, loads of meats, cheeses, juices, and even sparkling wine, if you felt like drinking in the morning :). Would gladly return to this place.

It's a bizarre one but thought I'd mention it: every room has a very spooky painting of a crying girl, the kids were scared of her so we had to put a blanket on the paintings so she didn't stare at us in the night :)

I loved the breakfast, such an amazing selection of food. Our room was very clean and the coffee was delicious. The hotel's location was sufficiently close to Edam, our main destination.

This is a personal preference, but I've realised I'm not a big fan of shared balconies. They can get noisy when other guests hang out on them to drink at night.
