We loved the location at the end of the spit right on the beach with uninterrupted views of the sea and mountains beyond. Utterly breathtaking and fabulous

The rooms are tired and the room- king sea view was very hot with no way to turn off the heat . The rooms are not serviced , this was fine for us. The reception staff were mixed , May was absolutely lovely and able and willing to help while our check in girl was rude and unhelpful . We were told there was no one to help carry our luggage up the stairs to our room. Basically the hotel is relying on its unique location but if it stepped up a bit it could be truely fabulous .

I am rating just the “budget room for one”, not the rooms in new part of building with sea view. My room, clean, super bed sheets, comfy, parking lot view, but no problem with car noise at all. Location is great for beach walks. I would love to stay in the sea view luxury rooms, during cold rainy days, where i would just watch the beach from room… the part with budget room seems to be from 1957 if i am correct, in good shape.

The budget room in old part is quiet, but if you have a noisy couple with jet lack, than it is no fun and is noisy, second night i could not sleep till 2 AM. First night with neighbor was NO problem at all.

The room had an upstairs and downstairs area, with a sea view upstairs. Two TVs, a fridge, plenty of room. Staff were friendly at check in. The location is amazing. We ate at the restaurant which was fine, our waiter was very nice. The coffee shop was good too, we got a hot drink before we left.

No breakfast offered, the room was hot in the night and there didn't seem to be air conditioning. Sleeping with the window open was no good due to noise. I could hear other guests moving around during the night as well. We found a plug in fan and the thermostat but nothing really seemed to help much. We were only staying one night so it was OK overall, but if staying longer or in the summer maybe a newer room would be more comfortable. Also, was disappointed to find it was $2 for a can of soda from the vending machine, expensive for guests already paying to stay. A bottle of water in the room would be really nice.

The room was first rate and we were glad we stayed 4 nights. It was a King stateroom and was so comfortable and spacious. The deck had two chairs and we looked out to the bay which was extraordinary. The room came with a soaker tub and separate toilet room. The bed was very comfortable and the convenience of coffee machine, a microwave and refrigerator was a bonus.

I did ask the front desk daily for replacement coffee and towels, as the room was not cleaned every day.

Location, location, location.

The "patio" is a slab small rectangular slab of concrete. The "ocean and mountain views" are there...hidden behind the legs of the balcony of the upstairs unit. It's was annoying and should be clarified in the description of the property. Had I known, I would've sprung for the balcony unit and enjoyed an unobstructed view. As it was, I dragged the Adirondack chair down toward the beach and god gorgeous views of the mountains and the bay. Another thing, if you don't take your trash with you, put the furniture back as you found it, and clean the dishes, countertops, refrigerator and other appliances, you will be charged an additional $45/hour plus tax.....isn't that what housekeeping is for?

Location was incredible. Right outside the back windows and sliding doors was the beach and amazing views. The room was very nicely furnished, comfortable, and clean. Had lots of character compared to a regular standard hotel room (an iron framed antique bed!). The room was very large with seating areas inside and out. A parking space is assigned with the room.

It was a little confusing to find the right front door to go in to find the room. The signs were not obvious

I liked the location- right on the beach. I loved watching the birds, boats, otters, seals, etc. from my balcony. I liked the restaurant and bar. I had dinner and drinks there almost every night. I liked all of the staff and people who worked there. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. It was easy and comfortable.

The location.... altho I liked being right on the beach, without a car my days were limited to activities that took place on or from The Spit. But, during my stay, I fished on a charter boat, kayaked, and took a pontoon plane to Brooks Falls to watch bears. So I had an excellent time.

The location could not be beat! We watched otters and fishermen from both the beach and one of the many observation windows.

Our (interior hallway) room was quite small. We were only there for one night, so it was not a big problem. However, if someone were to book this room for a longer stay, it would be very cramped.

The view is spectacular (and I've lived in Alaska for 20 years). The staff was friendly. The halls, room, and bathroom were clean. The bed was comfortable. I like that the rooms were separated within the suite. In other words, there's a door that separates the king bed from the kids beds.

Why are there dolphins on the room doors? Do dolphins even live in Alaska? The doors all slam. So when folks are off to their morning fishing adventure, you will be awaken by slamming doors. The walls are thin. You can hear your neighbors. There was some consistent pounding going on at about 300am that did not stop until morning. It was a stormy night, but overall sound management should be a focus. Not much curb appeal.

Great spot at the end of the spot with stunning views. We enjoyed the hot tub and even saw orcas while soaking on our last night. The set up of the suite worked great for our family of 4 with 2 teens.

The back room was very dark for sleeping but got a bit stuffy and warm. The fans were helpful!
