Special place in a national park, convenient to calenques, helpful and informative staff, beautiful surroundings almost like "glamping." Proximity of rooms and casual, family-friendly environment made it impossible not to visit with neighbors and we had a great, spontaneous night laughing and drinking wine (later realized "parties" were against the rules, oops).

The place seemed fussy about rules and there were many -- bit of a walking on eggshells feeling. Mateu was friendly and helpful but the other host was grumpy and intimidating, stereotypically "French" lol (this may not be fair as we don't speak French so our communication was limited). Bathrooms could use an upgrade.

Beautiful location. Nicely decorated inside. Cassis area is gorgeous. It feels like a magical place. Highly recommend the terrace area

Very very Thin walls. Couldn’t sleep past 8/830 because by then it was too loud with doors opening and shutting and lots of talking. Also could hear that same noise at night. Sadly one night at midnight heard a lot of rowdy sex from the next room and was traveling with my 13 year old so that was terribly awkward and bad because you can’t mute that. Also can’t get room cleaned up if you don’t leave by 12 noon

The hotel is beautifully and tastefully designed. The room was comfortable and cozy with a small outdoor area that compensated for its small size. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We arrived super hungry, and the dinner offered at the hotel restaurant was delicious. They use locally sourced products. I can definitely recommend adding breakfast to your stay; it was worth it. The location is very good for people who want to hike in the national park.

If you don't arrive by car, Cassis is quite far on foot, and there is no public transportation to the hotel, which is located next to a highway. We didn't hear the road at night, so the soundproofing seems fine. Walking to Cassis takes about 2 hours via the national park.

Les Volets Rouges is wonderful quiet hotel situated just 5 minutes away from the turmoil of Cassis. The rooms are very comfortable and spotless. The managers Sébastien and Matthieu are a delight, amazing hosts, very sociable and attentive to their guests needs. It was wonderful chatting with both of them! Breakfast was delicious, (especially the homemade yogurt) although some more proteins would have been nice, but that’s just a detail. We highly recommend Les Volets Rouges! And again a big thank you to Sébastien and Matthieu!

It’s a beautiful location in the hills between Marseille and Cassis. Easy access to the Parc Nationale des Calanques with some beautiful walking. Rooms were compact but very comfortable, perhaps geared to a shorter stay than us, we did six nights, but it was fine. The staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble, all in all a delightful stay

Not a massive criticism but the food was a little limited in range and they insisted on closing everything down by 2130 latest, and after dinner drinking was not encouraged. Perhaps in the summer? However the cooking was excellent and they make their own yoghurt for breakfast, which was fab. As I say, not a massive criticism at all and it would not stop us recommending the hotel.

Beautiful room, extremely spacious bathroom! Loved the outdoor area. Peaceful and quiet, and if you want to hike through the National Park down to the various callanques (swim coves) as I did, this is a pretty great spot. I would also recommend walking to town one morning. It's about an hour walk, but really picturesque. Back up is harder ;)

Very beautiful surroundings, the hotel has been decorated in a modern and very comfortable way. The outside areas and dining terrace are beautiful. As it’s on a main road you may feel it could be noisy, but it’s not. The rooms are fully soundproofed, it’s quite quiet at night and it doesn’t seem loud in the outdoor areas at all. Lovely breakfast. Beds very comfortable.

Up from the first moment when we arrived at the hotel, we could see that the owners are taking a lot of care in architecture and decoration. We also liked the location basically inside Calanque Park and away from crowdy Cassis. We also started our walking journey to Calanque d'En Vau from there which was such a good experience.

We booked the small room. And I was really aware of the small size. But I think that the bathroom/shower box is to small for a normal-sized person. It is dificult to wash hair / to elevate the arms. But we only stayed two nights. So thats ok!

Wonderful quiet and picturesque location, extremely easy to find as it is right next to the main road from Marseille to Cassis. Easy and spacious outdoor parking, secure at night due to locked entry gate. The air conditioning worked really well.

The room is very small. I am 188cm (six foot three inches) and there is barely room to put a big suitcase (unless standing it up). This means the bathroom and shower are also very small. Given the remote location, it is curious that the rooms are not more generously sized. It is the kind of size you would expect in Paris or another capital city, where land is extremely expensive. This hotel however is located far away from any city, big or small. Smaller issues were the weak wi-fi signal, which meant a slow internet connection, and the lack of any TV channels other than French (we speak French but even so it is nice to have some English language channels).

Location away from town meant driving to town that has very limited parking facilities, or walking down and having to get a taxi back from town each day
