The staff were very friendly and helpful, not always a given in France. For example they let me take some breakfast up to the room and unprompted went looking for a tray to help do so. The location is the best of any hotel in Angers, assuming you are looking to be right in the centre of things, and close to the vibrant nightlife, restaurants and bars in the city. Our 'balcony' room was perfect and we loved the expansive terrace overlooking the square.

I would have liked to see more hot food options for breakfast, there was only boiled eggs, and a toaster, but I knew that going in from other reviews. Also I'd have liked to see regular sliced bread offered (as opposed to only baguette) as toasted 'soldiers' (for the boiled eggs) was impossible! I'd suggest to the owners that they stay a night in their rooms from time to time to find the 'little' things that bug guests, such as the shower head 'nodules' being clogged up from hard water (an easy fix), the soap dispenser (in our room) not working properly, the door to the terrace being tough to unlock. The hotel is an old building that has been renovated a few years ago I'd guess. It's a solid 3 star, and was perfect for our one night in Angers.

Pleasantly surprised with our room, it was a good size with a super king bed, large bathroom which both led out onto a large terrace overlooking the main square. We also had a nespresso machine, so we could enjoy our morning coffee on the terrace. The staff were also extremely welcoming and friendly.

Although we had a large bed, we only had 2 very small square pillows, which wasn't enough. The room itself looked quite tired and dated, with obvious wear and tear, where the advertised rooms looked fresher and modern, which was dissapointing considering we booked a superior suite. Room was also not very clean, with stains in the bathroom, dirty coffee machine and finger prints on mirror. But this did not spoil our experience and would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is in a great location with many restaurants nearby and close to the attractions we wanted to visit. The breakfast is good, and the family room provides plenty of space for our family of four. It is quiet and clean, allowing for a very good night's sleep. The employees are friendly, and we would especially like to thank Barbara for always answering our questions promptly.

Parking is difficult to find; Google directed us to the exit rather than the entrance, which made locating it quite time-consuming. I would suggest that the owner provide the GPS coordinates for the parking entrance to make it easier for guests.

The receptionist,Natalie,was super efficient and helpful....she was a real asset to the hotel.Our stay was really enhanced by the help and advice Natalie was able to share with her local knowledge.

The room was really nice,clean and stylish. There was a problem with the heating in our room being on and you couldn’t turn it off.....not a very pleasant experience on a hot July night.Natalie offered us a free breakfast and a discount for our trouble and was very apologetic for our experience.She handled our complaint in an efficient and satisfactory manner without fuss....excellent!

The first thing you notice at Hotel Saint-Julien it it's incredible location on the square or Plaza. Surrounded by cafe/bar/restaurants for all tastes. The second thing that quickly becomes evident is that EVERY staff member you speak to is friendly, helpful and lots of smiles..... how refreshing? The hotel reception, corridors and rooms are fresh , light and clean, and our bedroom was just so comfortable. Sadly the restaurant was closed that night, so we cannot comment, but it looked very nice. As it's a little difficult to access the hotel by car, and then a drive around Anger to find underground parking, if the hotel had a "Valet Parking Service" it would be just perfect.

Nothing to dislike....... even though their restaurant was closed that night, the abundance and variety of restaurants around the square negated any disappointment. We had a wonderful experience at Hotel Saint-Julien and Anger. We owe a really big thank you for the information and friendliness of their incredible staff.

The hotel is situated on a main square in centre of Angers, tram station close by and surrounded by restaurants and bars, ideal location. We had a room on the 4th floor overlooking the square, good for people watching. The room was spotless, excellent modern bathroom, great shower. We had our pet dog with us and he was made very welcome and was greeted every morning when we came down for breakfast. Plenty of choice on the buffet breakfast and great choice of tea’s and self service coffee machine, we especially liked the mugs instead of small cups.

We really can’t think of anything we didn’t like, only having to leave this lovely town, stayed 3 nights, never got bored, excellent stay, will definitely be going back. So much to do and see, really good tram and bus links. Only down side was the price of parking, 3 days cost us 78€ we do think tourists should be able to purchase a special rate, the car park is under the square and was well lit and very clean.

As a solo female traveler traveling by train, this was an excellent hotel. It was about a 15 minute walk from the Angers train station. It is absolutely central in Angers and close to everything, including a large square surrounded by cafes and restaurants. I liked very much that they had an early check-in time. I treated myself to a room with a terrace and it was large and faced the Place du Ralliement but it had good doors which when closed kept the room safe and quiet. I slept well in the firm bed. The room had a hotpot and an espresso machine, which was fantastic. The breakfast was very good. The best part of the hotel was the "vibe." The hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful. They made me feel at home. They showed me the bar and encouraged me to come to the 80s party, but I wasn't feeling great and so slept instead (I was afraid I would hear the party but I didn't hear a thing). I would definitely stay here again. Angers is a fantastic, lively city of great historic interest, and the Hotel St Julien is the perfect base from which to enjoy it.

I keep complaining about the scrambled eggs in France. That is one thing that needs improvement. Everything else about the breakfast and the hotel in general was great!

Parking is an issue but secure underground parking is close by - if you can work out how to get there! Noise was a bit of an issue with a front room overlooking the square - lots of arguing and shouting at 3am followed by a very enthusiastic street cleaner with machine at 5am! Nothing that could be done about it - typical city life

Great location in central square near to many restaurants, historic sites and amenities. Bathroom was good and modern.

Finding a way through the streets with many pedestrian routes and tramways to the underground car park, which was convenient when we got there, took determination at the end of a long journey.

All of the staff were incredibly friendly, polite, professional and helpful. The location was perfect, car parks nearby and right next to plenty of shops and food. The lobby and bar area was nicely decorated. The room itself was good for the price. Overall we really enjoyed our stay!

The room had a big standalone aircon unit which really helped with the temperature but was a bit too loud to leave on overnight unfortunately. The room we stayed in was clean but maybe a little bit small and outdated.
