The front desk staff were very nice. Since Ibusuki is a very small town and the Go app doesn't work there, the front desk helped us to call a taxi. They also recommended a great izakaya within walking distance. This hotel is great because you can get the black sand bath right at the hotel. We arrived late and still managed to do the black sand bath, then enjoyed the huge onsen on the top floor with beautiful views of the ocean. It was wonderful. The dressing area of the onsen was large and had many amenities at each mirror station that were needed to get ready. Top it all off with free popsicles on your way out! We had a very nice tatami room. My parents had a huge 2 bed Western room. They had room with the beds, a living area with electric reclining chairs and a tatami room off to the side. Both rooms had a balcony with ocean views! A nice touch was the hot water pot and tea bags and snacks that were provided. There were also free non-alcoholic drinks in the lobby from 3-7pm I think. We only stayed overnight, but I wish we had another day to enjoy a bit more of the town and the beach and to sit out on the balcony and enjoy the views.

The only reason I took off one star was because our bathroom was old and had bugs in it. The Western toilet must have been put in later because you could barely fit in the stall that it was in. The shower area (I used the onsen to bathe, but my son used the in room shower) had bugs in it that creeped him out. I guess because it has a window that opens to the outside. My parent's en suite bathroom was perfectly fine. We didn't get to try the breakfast for an additional fee because you have to reserve that the day before.

I had a room with an ocean view, which was very nice. You could hear the sound of the waves, which was nice and relaxing. The main room was a large 12-mat tatami room and there was also a western-style couch with drink holders. A big closet with lots of hangers. There is a big bathhouse and a jacuzzi available to use, as well as sand-bathing for ¥1,200. There is a very good buffet breakfast in a room overlooking the ocean. Very good value for the money.

The bathtub faucet was dripping constantly, and I couldn’t turn it off. It had clearly been doing so for a while, because there were stains where it was leaking. I used the bathhouse the whole time I was there, so it wasn’t a big issue, but it shows a problem with maintenance. Overall, the plumbing was rather weak (I was on the fifth floor, the top floor). There were other places that looked rather well-worn. There were few power outlets and the lighting in the entryway was very weak. There was also a paper towel dispenser in the bathroom instead of a hand towel.

Rooms facing towards the ocean was nice but you could see rainwear which is quite unmaintained so little unfortunate but overall i say looks nice. And electric sofa extendable was nice. Free drink was nice with the ocean view. Sand bath service in the hotel was very convenient and relaxing.

I don't say i don't it feels like the hotel is stuck in the time. Like toilet commodes, flush, bathtub they are pretty old. At least the bathroom and toilet would be nice to have renovated. The room was fantastic with timeless architecture.

The breakfast was quite varied, a good balance of all food groups. Hotel was quiet. Nice balcony with a bay view, even through it was foggy one morning

We chose to try a traditional Japanese room, but we are too old and inflexible to sleep on the floor mats. Was not easy to get up from bed at night. Experience was memorable.

The sand bath and onsen are very well equipped

The toilet in the room is painfully small - no room for legs after seating on toilet bowl.
