Very traditional Italian pensione . I was very grateful to the attentive staff who helped me obtain a taxi to the station and helped with my luggage. Good continental breakfast. Stand alone single room air-conditioner during a heat wave very welcome. In an area full of bars and cafes.
Up 26 steep steps. No mini fridge or tea/ coffee making facilities in room..( I was given an electric kettle to use. ) Tiny shower but adequate hot water. The following is not a critcism of the property but Inexplicably no buses were running in lucca during my stay in a heat wave which prevented nearly all sightseeing. A great pity really

The host at breakfast every morning (I forget her name!) was welcoming, efficient, fast, and friendly! We stayed in a separate apartment a 10min walk away from the main lodging. It was huge, included a garden with kitties, and outdoors was a washer AND dryer! Clean, well appointed and comfortable beds too.
Lugging all of our suitcases up flights of stairs to check in, only to lug it all down again to walk to the apartment. (We were already pretty tired from a long journey upon arrival.) Would gladly have left it all downstairs if only we had known. Directions to check in were not very clear.

Lovely hostel, in an amazing location, just a short walk from the city center, very close to a few bars, and at the same time, very quiet. Impecable cleanliness and great comfort, even in the shared room. I was there working remotely and had no issues finding a quiet spot for working.
Not a negative point, but there was only one locker available in the female shared room, so this is a point in case you absolutely must keep something locked. Every person in the room had an individual key, and it was possible to lock the door, so even without a locker, it still felt very safe.

Great apartment. Our previous apt was inaccessible, so we booked last minute (7pm) on a rainy night. Host was on site, very friendly. Large main room with wood beam ceiling, windows out onto street, two couches. Bathroom spacious and shower temp and pressure were great (and it was a regular show, not a 2x2 box). Bedroom has a queen and a twin bed, windows that open, armoire with extra bedding. Kitchen equipped with essentials. Breakfast was lovely: pastries, breakfast torts, yogurt, juice, toast, fruit. Property has several apartments on the same street, which is right for the main artery in town. Great wine bar, coffee shops, and several restaurants right on the corner.

We recently stayed at this perfectly located hotel and had an excellent experience. The place is very quiet, comfortable and offers a beautiful view. The beds were very comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep. We stayed in a villa just steps away from the main building, and it was absolutely perfect. This hotel is an ideal base for discovering Lucca and other nearby cities, as the train station is just a few minutes' walk away. For those driving, there’s a secured parking area available for a daily fee, which gave us peace of mind. The room was cleaned daily, and the addition of roller blinds ensured complete darkness, perfect for sleeping in. The breakfast, which was included, had a lovely variety of local products, adding to the experience. The area surrounding the hotel is vibrant, with numerous restaurants and bars just a short walk away. The location is unbeatable, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area! I will definitely come back.

Great room and everything was super clean.a lot of info about everything u can have in Lucca. Really big and well cooked breakfast. The design of the place makes u really feel at home. For me as a solo-traveler i was a little bored in Lucca but! I rented bikes and it was perfect.
My room was so cold though they said maybe there is a problem with the heating thing in the room and toilet but well i was freezing unfortunately… also u should know that their are a lot of stairs if u come with a big suitcase like i did but the staff was really helpful to help me carry it on my check in and out.

The room was very nicely heated when we arrived. The bathroom was very well furnished. There was a mini fridge in the room. Very cute, old and eccentric decoration. Our room was very big. This place looks what it would have been a very big house adapted to a B&B. They have a good parking, right in the middle of the town. They register your car plate, so you don't have issues with the ZTL. This was very great and comforting and one of the main reasons why we chose this place.
Our room had a fireplace that was closed by what looked like a Styrofo board. We heard very strange noises during the night and it was a bit scary, but on the morning we asked the staff what that noise could have been and they told us that they placed a plastic sheet over the fireplace and on windy nights it makes a strange and unsettling noise.

We loved the position of this B&B, within the old town of Lucca but a little back off the road, alongside a carpark. It mean it was a quiet place to stay and we slept well. Our room with the balcony was large and very comfortable, good bathroom and shower. Although no particular view to speak of, it was really nice having the balcony to sit on. The Air Con broke down soon after we arrived but was dealt with quickly and efficiently: we were supplied with a large and strong fan until the air con was repaired the following morning. Check in was easy and efficient. The buffet breakfasts were good with pleasant and helpful staff. We had no difficulty getting to and fro the train station, about a 20 min walk, and on one of our days we visited Florence easily by train. All in all our 4 night stay here was delightful and who could not love Lucca!
All good.

I stayed in a single room for three nights. The room was really clean and had everything I needed for the short stay. The bed was really comfy and the bathroom looked like it was only recently renovated. Also, the breakfast was really nice, I was positively surprised by it! The location is great, you are actually in the midst of the historic city center, but at the same time really quiet. People were really nice there, it is a cosy, small place, perfect for a stay in lovely Lucca. I would definitely recommend staying in La Gemma Di Elena!

We were delighted to be upgraded to the apartment next door. It was so warm and comfortable, yet spacious and very well equipped. The location was brilliant - really close to the walls, shops, bars and restaurants, but also quiet and peaceful. It was great to have the parking next door; so necessary in busy Lucca. We enjoyed the tasty breakfasts and the warm welcome.
Our mattress was lumpy! The stairwell of the building was rather dank and scruffy - not the fault of Elena, of course! Otherwise everything was just fine!
