I finally committed to making an account on Booking.com just to gush about how much I loved this place. I thought we'd get a decent-sized room at best, but for the modest price we paid, we received what I can only describe as an entire hall of the building with the most beautiful, expansive view of the port. The traditional meals were so artfully presented and absolutely delicious (I low-key thought it would just be dinner but they did breakfast too and I could have cried). I was surprised by how filling, thoughtfully curated, and protein-centric everything was. Additionally, they were incredibly prompt and proactive during the days leading up to our stay, offered free shuttle services to and from Yaizu Station, and were very careful with arranging the kaiseki meal around my dietary restrictions. The private onsen, our first onsen experience, was fantastic, and the rooms and outdoor wraparound balconies were very spacious. Plus, the free tea and late-night snack services? I mean, the personal attentiveness and genuine kindness of the staff just blew me away. The town of Yaizu itself is a rather sleepy, small town, so not much to see within walking distance (aside from the lovely port of course) but the local charm is unmatched anywhere else we visited in Japan. It was a quiet, beautiful stay. I honestly would've stayed longer here if I knew how nice it would be.

The entrance to the lodging was a little difficult to find because it's small, but that's a very minor issue.

The staff were very kind- every one. We did not speak much Japanese and they did not speak much English but they were unfailingly kind and respectful. They wanted to look after our every need. The property is absolutely stunning. We were astounded to have such a beautiful room and terrace and garden and private bathing and onsen- so incredibly relaxing 😌 the breakfasts were so varied. Everything was so, so clean. Every amenity was provided from mouthwash to drinks to onigiri to mochi to razors to .. everything.

The location is odd because yaizu isn't..super interesting. But the people in yaizu were SO nice that it didn't matter! Also, it would be an amazing place for a couple because it's very romantic - we were friends, but it was still great.

Delighted Return to Migiwaya: This was our second stay at Migiwaya, and it was just as memorable as the first. The staff's exceptional kindness and attention to detail stood out, from assisting with local recommendations and travel mishaps to meticulous daily service. Facilities & Cleanliness: We enjoyed a pristine unit complete with a private garden and onsen terrace, re-stocked daily with snacks, drinks, and personal care products. The ryokan also offers a reservable public onsen, a dining hall, a beautiful garden, and in-room massage services. Comfort: Despite our March visit, the accommodation was wonderfully warm and cozy. The provided pajamas and yukatas kept us comfortable, even outside during chilly evenings, and the beds and seating were perfect for relaxing indoors. Side Story: On our return trip to Migiwaya, the staff worked with my partner in helping him plan the perfect proposal. They picked out the perfect spot, kept him updated on the weather, recommended gorgeous spots to explore, and even decorated our room to celebrate for when we got back. Thanks to their thoughtfulness, Migiwaya isn’t just a place we stay; it’s a part of our story. It’s become a tradition—whenever we're in Japan, we have to visit our friends at Migiwaya. Thank you so much for everything!

Not staying longer and leaving.

Lovely traditional style hotel, our premium rooms were very spacious, the breakfasts were incredible and so was the "rock" Onsen which you could book. We enjoyed our deck and outside small circular bath. Staff were fantastic. The furniture especially the chairs were high quality and very comfortable.

I felt it was priced a little high for the age of the place and the town location. The town is a sleepy fishing town with few attractions unless you have a car. The price was higher than our extremely polished ryokan hotel in Kyoto, close to endless attractions. Our room was very spacious however it was much older and 70s styled than expected. It was showing signs of aging, cracking concrete, worn laminates, aging bathroom and toilet. The beds were very hard, not that comfortable. The website photos were taken at night where these details were hidden. I think the photos should reflect what you get. Promote the restaurant and the Onsen which are clear highlights of the place. Our room could use some modernizing for the price.

Amazing beautiful property in a quiet little town! We loved the facilities and our little garden oasis with private onsen! The staff are super thoughtful and kind and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed, and they even helped us make reservations at a local restaurant…that was delicious! Make sure you try the hotels Kaiseki meal too…it was amazing! We also rented electric bikes from the tourist centre and explored the waterfront. We had an amazing time at Migiwaya and will definitely be back! A perfect place to take a break from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo and Osaka! Highly recommend!

The town is famous for tuna so the sashimi pieces for dinner and breakfast was awesome. And the private outdoor hot tub was exceptional. Especially, the location is very east to access from anywhere else. I would like to visit again to stay at the room with the ocean view.

Everything was exceptionally good. Only few and minor thing was we have to bear other customers noise when they are drunk. And the room was super dry when we turn on the heater but we can jump into the hot tub to moisturize ourselves ;)

I loved everything about Migiwaya. Their staff was exceptionally accommodating, kind, and attentive. I reserved the room with a private onsen and garden and the for price, it was beyond my expectations. There are so many things I loved about Migiway. The in-room facilities were well stocked that they refill/restock daily. They provide traditional yukatas with coats for wold weather and wooden shoes plus pyjamas with split-toe socks. The bonus perk that we were unaware of was the free snacks and drinks such as a tea set for sencha, instant coffee, fish cookies, and every day at 5pm they bring you fresh rice snacks like onigiri. In addition, we had breakfast with our reservation and it was so delicious. I recommend adding their breakfast to your reservation and they provide great recommendations for dinner if you don’t want to eat dinner at the ryokan. And finally, their onsens were heavenly. You can reserve 45mins of private use throughout the day at their public baths and/or make use of the onsen in your room. I reserve their public baths every evening to wash away the day and used my room onsen at least twice throughout the day, an onsen with a the early morning sun is perfect. I loved everything, I highly recommend, and I would definitely come again. Yaizu is now a city I have to visit whenever I come to Japan. Thank you to Ken-san and his staff for taking care of us.

The treatment was amazing as soon as I got there, everything was done for me from taking my luggage to giving me a towel to dry myself from the rain. They offer to pick you up from the station and take you there after. The hotel room was perfect. The private onsen was the star of the show, I used so many times during a typhoon, I left a new relaxed man. They bring food to your room in the evening, traditional japanese ryokan food. I wish I could move in. 10/10 will stay for a month.

All perfect.

A cozy Ryokan with around 8 rooms, each featuring a private outdoor hot spring and a communal one for families. There's a Family Mart just two blocks away. While soaking in the onsen on the patio, a cat came by seeking some pets – pretty amusing! The tranquility is fantastic. The Indonesian staff, fluent in English, made our stay incredibly seamless. They also provide complimentary beverages, including a couple of beers in the fridge.

It's located by the ocean but has a somewhat industrial feel. While it's clean and comfy, a bit of refurbishing could enhance the experience. Dinner and breakfast were included, but I complained about the beef course being too large – it overshadowed the other courses, making it hard to finish. Also, both meals lacked that standout, sparkling dish.

One of the most special stays we’ve had - not just in Japan, but ever! Right from entering the relaxing, simple space, to the cool jazz playing in the background, to the personal Onsen - we loved it all! The communication with staff was great - they were so lovely and attentive. The staff made a great recommendation for dinner at a local izakaya - delicious! We really hope to be back soon.
