Great economy inn in the country of Connecticut. Located on a main road that serves as a thoroughfare to many CT towns. The room is spacious with a small kitchenette (microwave, sink, and mini-fridge) and two bottled waters upon arrival. It also had soaps, one lotion, dish soap, and one bottle of shampoo. Windows that open for fresh air, but high enough that you don't have to worry about a security issue. Friendly staff who greet you and very accommodating in terms of late check ins. We arrived around 10:20 pm. Also want to note that my husband needed to be in a neck brace and check-in staff offered to help with luggage and were very attentive to opening doors. I would definitely stay here again for the price offered.

Despite hanging signs requesting a "tidy up", we never had room service, which means food waste sat in the room. While we never had a bug problem, I could see this happening in summer. While you could call someone easily, the front desk was rarely staffed because they were attending to other things. So we requested towels everyday just because we were out during the day. Portland itself is far from a lot and it takes about 10 minutes to get to most anything.

The Solano Inn is a motel that has been really nicely redone and modernized. The view in the back is lovely - woods and a small pond. The rooms are large and comfortable. We appreciated that we could open the window to let in fresh air. The place is very quiet. And we also were grateful to be able to include our dog.

There was no conditioner and no airdryer in the bathroom. It would have been nice to have both!

Quiet location, clean room, friendly staff, and the best value out of any hotels I’ve stayed at while visiting Portland/Middletown area.

We have to pay 25 for early checking at 2 pm which the website says 2 check in. They argue that check in is at 3
