Our stay at Mohua Motels was excellent. The facilities in the room exceeded our expectations - small matter such as it had egg cups for our boiled eggs! We had 3 nights and used the outside gas barbeque for two evening meals. It was very clean and worked extremely well - a good range on BBQ tools was provided. There was nice outside sitting space. It was a short walk into Takaka for cafes, shops and a few restaurants. As a bonus there was an excellent supermarket just down the road - again easy walking distance. The area has outstanding beaches within a short drive. Staff are very helpful and easily available.

As a suggestion, a little more room to store personal food would be good.

Very friendly host and all the people we met whilst there. The motel room was exceptionally clean and very comfortable. The location is brilliant to explore the beauty that Abel Tasman has to offer. The town of Takaka has everything you should need and there is a large well stocked Fresh Choice supermarket a few hundred yards up the road from the motel. The beaches at Tata and Totranui are beautiful. You can also book a water taxi at the motel that takes you from Totranui (about 45 minutes drive but the last 10k is on unsealed roads) to a number of bays down the coast. We took the boat to Onetahuti which is stunning, and walked back to the fabulous Awaroa beach and got the boat back. The awesome beach at Wharariki is about a one hour drive away but certainly well worth the trip.

The suite is perhaps needing a little updating but the owner is new and I would think they will look to improve the place given time. It is certainly great as it is though.

My wife and I thought Mohua excelled in terms of the layout and facilities. The unit has been recently renovated: the bathroom is very nice, as is the kitchenette. It’s “just” a basic motel room, yes, but it was clean, and someone had taken the time and thought to make sure that it has everything one might need. We’ve been in dozens of kiwi motel rooms where we discover, damn, they don’t have this, or that… Mohua has somehow discovered all those things that we’ve found lacking in other places, and they have made sure THEY have them covered. Kudos to Mohua for superb interior design and equipment. Well done.

Fantastic!! Pleasantly Suprised !! My recent stay at Mohua was absolutely fantastic! From the moment I stepped in, I knew it was going to be a memorable experience. The hotel staff, including the receptionist, were incredibly warm and accommodating. I felt well looked after! The location is superb, offering convenience and charm in equal measure. One of the highlights was the fully stocked kitchen, which made meal prep a breeze. The spacious rooms provided ample comfort, ensuring a restful stay throughout. I must say, the value for money here is truly marvelous. Overall, I highly recommend Mohua Motels to anyone seeking a top-notch hotel experience. Thank you to the entire team for making my stay so enjoyable! I'll definitely be returning in the future

Lovely fresh room, light and airy, extremely clean and comfortable. Large clean bathroom. Everything looked new and sparkly clean! Everything from the bed linen and towels to pots in the kitchen was new and of high quality. Lovely owners!. We had a fantastic stay with our young family. The motel is a short walk to the main town centre in Takaka. It's a hippie town with lots of nice cafes and a great play area for kids (0-10 years) and a DOC office.

The motel was in an excellent position for Takaka amenities. The owners were super friendly and helpful such a lovely family. Extremely helpful and very caring for our comfort at the motel. The room was very clean and well kept with excellent facilities.

We were asked on our departure what could have been improved and to honest there was nothing extort could have been provided or improved on. We would definitely stay stay again and recommend this motel.

The owners were really interested in their guests, friendly and approachable for any discussion or questions. The location and facilities met our expectations, such that everything was provided to allow us to self cater. Centrally located with the shops and supermarket all within an easy walk. I would recommend people visiting the Takaka area to stay at this motel.

Nothing to dislike.

Staff were amazing,friendly and helpful.Large comfortable apartment close to town and supermarket.Would be great for families with separate bedroom for kids.Exallent kitchen and bathroom facilities.lovely rural outlook .Highly recommend the stay here we spent three nights and found it an awesome gate way to activities.Absolutely loved this Motel .

Bed was super comfortable

The cupboards on the wall in the kitchen are badly placed. When you stand up from bending down to put food in fridge,the cupboard is right above. Head connected w cupboard several times. Not sure where else you could put cupboards with that layout of small kitchen

As I am in a wheelchair we had an accessible room. Easy to manoeuvre around, great access to kitchen area, excellent accessible bathroom with wet floor, fold down seat, bars in shower and around the toilet area. Staff incredibly helpful and pleasant to deal with. Nothing was an issue.
