In a 4 bed dorm: Fab place. Cool chill out areas. Great kitchen facilities. Staff friendly and thorough with cleaning. Maintenance kept tip top. Comfy beds. Loved that is was single beds instead of bunk beds.

Just a note for the establishment: Would be handy to have: - 2 pillows instead of one. - bedside lights so we can turn the main light off for people wanting to sleep & others read etc - hooks & shelves in rooms for bags/coats/clothes/phones/laptops etc. Really not great having to dump everything on the floor. There wasn’t a single place to put our belongings other than the floor - not really acceptable.

I loved how friendly and helpful all staff were, the diversity of people who stayed there, the excellent clean facilities with recycling and compost available. Was also amazed at the water taxi services provided for so many diverse people and locations. The place. Loved that I could walk into nature. No need for a car. Liked the park cafe and the burgers on site also.. I stayed longer than most people .there is a big turn over if people in and out.

Can't think of anything..except perhaps that not all the staff were that familiar with the walks .and how far or hard they could be. More info on the different parts of the trail would be helpful I think.

The cabins are lovely and clean (if a tiny bit on the small size - absolutely fine for a couple of nights though). Wonderful location (couldn't be better really) and staff were really excellent too. Great value for money.

This really isn't a criticism of the accommodation itself or the staff but both nights we were there, we had food and drink stolen from the fridge. It was really bizarre. They'd gone out of their way to rifle through a labelled box of drinks and pick out all the beers (leaving all the soft drinks). Just really annoying when you want to enjoy a cold beer after a long day of hiking! I feel like there could have been signs on the fridge just to make absolutely clear this wasn't a "help yourself" deal. So yeah, don't assume your food and drink is safe!

We originally chose this accommodation because of the close proximity to the Abel Tasman National Park. However upon arrival we were pleasantly supprised of the nice camping grounds and facilites. We particularly enjoyed the nice shower facilites and of course the great coffee in the morning. We also took a water taxi to the NP which is in great walking distance from our room and the trail of the park ends/starts directly at the entrance of the camp. Would definetely recomend this to anyone who wants to do a part of the Abel Tasman Great Walk. or anybody just enjoying the beach in the area. Staff is also super nice and helpful.

The Barn is in a lovely location right next to the start of the Abel Tasman with lovely sunrise views. Our group of five stayed in a four bed room and a single room. Both rooms were comfortable. Although they were small they were adequate for our requirements and priced appropriately. The single room was especially nice and came with a towel. We appreciated the communal areas and the friendliness of other people staying there. It was possible to start a soccer game with other visitors, for example. Kitchen areas are well supplied and large and the bathrooms clean. The on-site caravan producing delicious baguettes was also a bonus. We also used the parking area while we explored the Abel Tasman NP and had no problems.

Nothing.

Gorgeous location on the front steps of Abel Tasman (you are a hop, skip, and jump from the main Abel Tasman Track) with a great variety of facilities and options for lodging. I stayed in a cabin and was quite content with what was included (towels were a nice touch). Very friendly/knowledgeable front desk (they were more than happy to help arrange tours/water taxi for those who wanted it) and a well-stocked store (though only open 2-6). Also, the baguette cart is a great food option after a long days' hike on the Abel Tasman Track.

Shower drains clogged and water pressure was sporadic, though this is understandable, as you are off the grid. Also had to pay extra for a useable amount of internet (though not a whole lot, $5 for 10GB to use over 24hrs). Simply the nature of the beast when you are in an off-the-grid place like this. It is very much worth it after all.

A super atmosphere. Comfortable cabins. Super helpful staff. New toilet block is pleasant. Location is outstanding. Quiet after 11. A great place to begin the Abel Tasman track or to use the water taxi to go part of it. The staff are able to book this for you and make recommendations.

We didn’t know about the other kitchens so used the one close to our cabin where we stored our food. This was overcrowded at times and all of the cutlery and crockery were unavailable on two occasions. The toilets next to that kitchen were in need of refurbishment so we were glad to find the newer block.

Location and views from our pod were amazing. Kitchen area is well stocked with utensils and crockery to use. Site is a mix of all types of people so is great fun.

Not aimed at Barnes but Booking.com need to let people know that bathroom facilities are SHARED. Didn’t know this until we arrived and booking in team stated they had told Booking.com numerous times. You always get a small group who get drunk late at night and spoil it for others at 1.00 in the morning. Again, nothing Barns could have foresee. Would stay here again but they need bigger shower/toilet blocks (3 are not enough when busy)👍

It was what it said it was, a bunk room with bedding and towels supplied. There are 6 rooms like this around a centre courtyard. These rooms use the kitchen and communal bathroom of the camp ground which were good and fully stocked with everything you need in a kitchen. Short walk to the Park restaurant which was good. Friendly staff. Warm. Lovely park like grounds for camping, close to the beach. Probably a 10-15 min walk to Mārahau.

Nothing. It was what was expected as a base before we hiked the Able Tasman.

Perfect for hiking the Abel Tasman track. Great accommodation, in the park and amazing bird song to wake up to in the morning! It’s a very chilled place, staff were lovely and super helpful, they have a terrace with a pool table and a coffee shop on site, there’s also the cafe 5 mins walk from barn and able Tasman aqua taxi so 10 mins walk. Toilet/ shower/ kitchen and laundry in the next hut over ( 2 kitchens and 3 shower huts with numerous showers in - I never had to wait) loads of utensils in the kitchen and only $4 for washing.

Nothing. It was good!
