Both upma and pongal tasted good w well prepared chutneys. Coffee below par as it was not velan kaappi/kovai standard. Thirumal is the restaurant manager. Excellent dinner service by Thirumal/his team. The terrace dinner venue was top notch and was full. Hotel Madurai Residency was sold out Feb 7th. Ramie at reception is very pleasant and did her best to attend to my requests. After the dispointments of Hotel Ashoka in Rameswaram, madurai residency was the model of a well run place. Room rates are same. Pls note. Newspaper is delivered to the room.

The bathroom faucets did not hv hot water/cold water indications.

This hotel is an absolute gem. The room was not overly large but had tea and coffee making facilities, fan, air con, a duvet on a comfortable bed. The food served here is excellent and great value for money. At lunchtime we eat in the inside restaurant but of an evening the rooftop restaurant was the place to eat. The hotel also has a bar serving alcohol. Lifts take you to the top floors. The staff are all pleasant, helpful and professional. In particular I would like to thanks the reception staff for being so helpful.

Good hotel in central location with excellent restaurants on 6th floor and on rooftop

Very poor WiFi in room: signal good in lobby and restaurants but unusable in our room. We had local data package so not a huge problem, but at this hotel's pricepoint disappointing in comparison to other hotels in Tamil Nadu that we've stayed in on this trip. We reported problem to reception, but no improvement in WiFi signal

This is a really comfortable hotel in a great location with a lovely rooftop restaurant and basement permit bar. Breakfast included. All very good overall.

We did not realise that it is 24 hour check-in so having arrived off an overnight bus we had to leave the room at 6am on the day of departure or pay for another entire day. It would be good if a smaller additional charge were available for a late check out.

Good location, 6-7 with auto to the temple and a few minutes walk to the station. Big and clean room with desk and smal sofa. They let us check in during the morning. Yummie indian breakfast buffet and also a good roof top restaurant with good service and excellent food. We got a newspaper under the door every morning.

Sometimes difficult to get attention in the restaurant. The travel service didnt have all information that we needed, but no big thing.

We loved everything...the central location near the temple, the comfort, beautiful rooms, and fabulous rooftop restaurant. Surpassed all expectations and excellent value for money. Madurai was fantastic...I travelled with my 20's son and daughter. While you're there, do the Temple tour with the excellent guide Bala from Sri Meenakshi Darshan Guided Temple Tours...superb.

Bring toilet paper...it's not customary to provide in India. All other provisions were excellent

Good breakfast with a lot of options. The rooms were clean. Bathrooms were enough - separation of toilet and shower area would be nice to keep things dry on the toilet. The elevators were functional. Also there seemed to be at least one car park spot per room - cannot confirm this.

This is true of many hotels/bathrooms in India. There is no separation/barrier between toilet and shower areas.

Convenient to train station and it’s the tallest building in the City. Quiet room requested in back was nice and comfortable, so slept well. Roof restaurant and terrace was nice, but breakfast room pretty sterile and had to struggle to find clean table. Meenakshi temple sights and spirituality is a worthwhile experience, but you can’t take photos, and entrances a bit confusing (go to east side entrance and check your shoes)

Streets around hotel are pretty chaotic and neighborhood towards the temple pretty gritty, even by Indian city standards, but there is pleasant car free road buffer around temple. Transport desk at hotel only assisted me only once I was there( wouldn’t quote a taxi fare in advance…) with onward taxi/car to Pondicherry and I felt price was way too high (almost 2x compared to ride Apps that I could check but couldn’t use without Indian credit card) and noticed hotel agent took about half the big fare when paying the driver. Felt like egregious tourist (and driver) gouging, especially as we were some of only Western tourists in the City.

AC and Wi-fi worked well. TV was good too (though I couldn't find any programs in English). Room was extremely comfortable, with nice bathroom to boot. Good restaurant, with choice of Indian and western items. Beer too! Free breakfast included.

Main entrance to hotel difficult to find on street (taxi driver had to circle two or three times before finding it).

Excellent stay at Royale suite. Comfortable room, nice king size bed and additional Diwan bed in the suite. Ample storage, toiletries, tea/coffee sachets provided. Kettle present in room as well. Bathroom is spacious with tub and clean. Location is in town centre, walking distance to west entrance of Meenakshi temple. Staff is polite and courteous as well. They were accommodating with check-in checkout. Breakfast is complimentary and is superb! Variety is limited but food is tasty. Rooftop dining experience for dinner was great. Lunch also is reasonable, made to order and has enough variety.

Being town center it's a bit noisy. Suite should accommodate family of 4, it only accommodates 3 due to the Diwan. For 4th person you have to pay extra for the bed.
