This hotel is beautiful. The view to the castle is amazing. The rooms are dated, kinda Old Workdish, but I guess that was part of the charm. The room was on the smaller side. The bed was OK, but they provided only two pillows and they were horrible. Luckily, they brought us two extra ones, no duvet or comforter either.. electric outlets in just one side of the bed, TV with local channels only. Mini fridge and safe. The bathroom was comfortable and it had a bathtub, bidet, and a towel, warmer and a blow dryer with toiletries.AC worked well. The premises were gorgeous, a nice coffee shop/bar and a very nice restaurant. We got our room with breakfast, and the breakfast was very nice, and they always brought me my gluten-free bread. We also had dinner one night there, and it was excellent, and they brought me gluten-free bread as well. The view from the room was to the castle.. they had only one lady working the front check/in and she obviously was overworked. She couldn’t provide much information about the area, and told us twice that they didn’t have Maps and we should go to the Information kiosk in town, and to be honest, we were very disappointed. The location of this place is great, you could walk to town and to Bodegas Protos and drive to the wineries in Rivera Del Duero, for the castle, you have to drive up. you need to make a reservations for the wine tasting and tours in Protos, and since the town is so small, make sure you make reservations for dinner in one of their restaurants, which the front desk lady helped us make reservations, and the dinner was amazing. We didn’t use the spa or the pool. But it was kind of chilly..There is parking for an additional fee.

It looks as if they are understaffed. This place looks like if it’s fully booked because we saw a big bus coming in. But there is just one lady working the check in and the phone and she looked overworked.

The historical convent was restored beautifully in a quiet location. The breakfast provided was high quality. The entire staff from Sonia, Esther, and the young lady (sorry forgot her name) who assisted us in time of a medical emergency in the middle of the night were genuinely concerned & very much appreciated The cafeteria staff Ruid & Julia were professional & cheerful throughout our stay.

Minor areas of improvement: Not one English TV channel available. No clock in the room, nor Kleenex tissues available.

The front desk staff was very welcoming and helpful.

The bathroom had moldy spots in the seals of the shower. The towels were very worn. Breakfast while it included some good options, had shared condiments which made a mess. The spa was okay, but it seemed odd that there were no hooks in the shower/changing room to hang robes, towels or clothing. This would all be fine for a mid-range hotel, but as a 4* with a hefty price tag per night, it was not a good value.

Location is great, the hotel kept the historical interior. Breakfast is good, offering you a wide selection of dishes. Great old castle view from the room.

Double room, that we initially booked, was very small with a small windows, offering almost no light. So right at the hotel we changed for a bigger room (junior suite) with some extra payment. Unfortunately, from all the rooms, the hotel could not offer a suite with one big double bed, only two beds put together.

-Good price/quality ratio -Good location -The breakfast is average but well done. -The people in the restaurant are helpful

-Have more information about events happening in the city. We went to activities related to Dia V and no one had any information about it. Many of the guests were there just for that event.

This hotel used to be an old convent. The exterior looks medieval and some of the original walls have been preserved. Inside, it is now a modern, comfortable, spacious hotel. There is a grand courtyard with seating areas for relaxation and socializing. The hotel is very close to the wonderful Peñafiel castle (looks like something out of Robin Hood). Definitely worth a visit. It is also close to several areas of wineries. Highly recommend going to the Arzuaga winery. Take the tour which includes tasting of 3 wines. Have lunch at the winery. Order the roast lamb, which the region is famous for. It takes 3 hours to cook so reserve ahead of time. The room is large with a nice picture window. The bathroom is well equipped and spacious. You can pay to use the spa but you need to make reservations at least a day before. The breakfast buffet included fruits, cheeses, cold cuts, lots of bread, cereal, eggs cooked in different ways, nespresso coffee, a selection of teas and juices. It is worth the additional price if you want a large breakfast.

The staff were friendly but not very knowledgeable about the area. Strange given all the tourists they must get. TV is too small and half the channels don't work properly because of satellite interference

Very well situated on the edge of town just by the river. The rooms were comfortable and ours had a good view of the castle. The food in the restaurant was excellent.

The staff, though nice, seemed a bit lost at times. Checkin took an age. I felt there was a lack of effective management.

Everything was very nice. Breakfast was very good. Liked the location for the meetings I had with local winemakers, very central to most of them.

Working in the room was a bit hard. The chair was terribly uncomfortable, so from a work perspective I can't say the comfort was there. Internet was good, just the desk/chair set up wasn't good.

This hotel is an old Monastry which has been reconverted to a hotel - it’s beautiful decorated with a proper restaurant serving tradition Spanish cuisine and a good wine list. The location gives easy driving access to wineries in the entire Ribera del Duero area.

Great location to explore the town of Penafiel and other local bodegas. This historical building is beautiful and our room was very clean and updated. The meals were great and the staff were friendly as well. Would recommend!!!
