Very friendly and helpful staff, everything was clean and functional. Both the included dinner and breakfast were good. We're very happy with our stay and would stay again if looking for a hotel room in Karlstad!

The building (an old prison) is beautiful and works surprisingly well as a hotel. Sadly, very sadly, someone has coated all the interior walls and some ceilings with fibreglass wallpaper. Very little of the original architecture and materials were visible and tangible. I hope one day the building will be renovated and show some of the materials that it's made of. The building deserves that.

Clean, good size rooms, perfect for family . We asked for an extra bed (foldable) which they provided both times without issue. Half-voard included and meals were surprisingly good. Considering price. We used a stop over while traveling to and from ski resort further north. Not far from highway. Parking close , free if given ticket from hotel

Second stay at this hotel and still a friendly and comfortable place. Dinner and breakfast included. Constructed from a repurposed prison it has an interesting museum in the basement. Glad they have not used these cells as guest rooms!

Some construction work in the local area. Not the fault of the hotel and all will be fine when finished.

We were very satisfied with the overall experience. Location is great, the building looks newly renovated, the room was very comfortable. We had half board included in the room rate and both dinner and breakfast were excellent. Would definitely recommend staying here.

A lovely hotel. Good feel. So beautifully clean. Very novel to stay in a prison. Very nicely styled and the incorporation of the history was extremely well done. Bonus with having dinner and breakfast included. Both very good. Would recommend.

Friendly staff, calm environment, quiet hotel. Bed was good, room was good size. Good breakfast.

Pillows were bit too mushy for my taste. Soaps are Rituals (like in every Clarion hotel in Sweden) which is too strong scented for people who are sensitive to scents.

The location is very convenient to the station, the room was quiet (those prison walls), and everything was very comfortable. Best of all, the breakfast and dinner provided as half board were totally delicious and substantial and served on a restaurant-style dining room.

When I checked out the man at reception was very helpful and kind when I asked if I could pack my car and have breakfast before leaving. Had a nice conversation with him and now want to come back and stay again

Very nice clean hotel with friendly staff We liked that we could make a cup of tea and there were very nice public spaces to sit in

The restaurant was a bit soulless but the meals were good
