The food , waiters and house keeping staff was excellent. Food for. Breakfast and dinner was excellent and so were the service. Well done.
For the front office a big maybe, as an example , on check-out in we were given 2 keys for 3 persons, assuming this is normal, as most places we will have 2 keys. But, on check-out, the front desk keep insisting and were rather rude as implying I didn’t want to return it. We ask for the manager , but both were rather reluctant, we just left. If management insist on this practice, just make your guests sign for the number of keys and tell them they need to return all of them. Didn’t leave a good impression of the front staff. Management should train front desk staff better.

We loved the location of the property and that it’s really clean. We booked half board and it worked out well for us with a little 2 year old. Food was amazing. Staff was helpful. Onsen was great!
They really need to improve their restaurant booking system. I asked to book for dinner at 530pm every night for our 2 nights stay when I booked the hotel, but upon arrival they told me only 8pm was possible. It was not acceptable as we have a 2 year old and he couldn’t have waited until then. After heated exchanges the manager changed the booking so we could have dinner at 530. It’s really unpleasant and completely avoidable.

1. The onsen inside the hotel was great. Through the back door of the hotel, we had access to the public foot onsen as well. 2. Dinner was good, well presented and attractive, though it was not the best I had in other Japanese onsen hotels. 3. The room is big and clean, and beds are comfortable. 4. We loved all pottery that the hotel used in the room, in the bathroom, in the public areas and in the dining area. The cups, saucers, bowls, mugs, dishes, etc are made of pottery with appealing design. I guess they are all made by a local designer. 5. A staff was very generous to take us with our luggage to the bus terminal by his car as we understood the hotel would not provide drop off nor pick up services. We really appreciate of his great help as the road from the hotel towards to the main road was quite steep for us.
1. We were all disappointed about breakfast as everything is so salty. Lots of cold dishes and we wish there were more warm dishes available. We ended up eating tiny little. 2. Very strict about time to check-out. Our request of extending the checkout time for just 15 min was turned down. We had been told that extension is hourly based and we had to pay extra yen for late checkout.

We had a wonderful stay at the property. To begin with the hotel is very well located in the center of Kusatsu with access to the Yubatake by foot. This allowed us to come and go at any time and take walks in the area. The hotel itself is very modern with a Japanese design. We chose the dinner and breakfast set and were not disappointed. The food and service were excellent, and the food was sourced with local ingredients and used dishes from a local artisan. I have stayed at other Ryokans in the past and the food was decent but this property really exceeded my expectations in terms of quality and thoughtfulness of cuisine. The staff were all very professional, courteous and kind. I was very impressed by their level of attentiveness. I really recommend the dinner and breakfast set to travelers who want to enjoy local cuisine but with an elevated and modern twist. After dinner we enjoyed the hot springs on the property and thanks to that had a very good rest. Onsen culture in Japan is phenomenal and the quality of the hot springs here was very good. The bath itself is also had an open air portion (covered from view of course) which allowed us to enjoy the surrounding nature and night sky. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and my only regret was that the stay was not longer.

Beautiful hotel that had a nice luxurious feel! Nice, clean, spacious room easily fit our family of four. The dinner and breakfast were fantastic! Do not miss this opportunity. The taste of a traditional ryokan meal in the comfort of a restaurant. Very nice prepared and presented meal. Warm onsen that everyone in my family enjoyed. Courteous staff.
I would have liked to have known the dinner service times before I arrived. We missed the 1800 serving by 10 minutes and had to wait until 2000. This was a bit long for my kids, but we were able to get a snack and it was worth the wait.

The food. The accommodation. The Onsen's. The walking distances. The staff. The decor. The staff. The food. The ambience. The architecture. This is a fantastic place to stay! The food is top notch - I would put the food here against anywhere in the world and know it would come out on top. The accommodation is great - minimalistic but very warming and comfortable. The onsen's at the hotel styled in a way so that they are very relaxing. Within a short walking distance to Yubatake and shops. The staff were fantastic. I speak English with a little Japanese, but the reception explained everything quite well in English. The restaurant staff (both front-of-house and kitchen) are as good, or better, as any I have experienced in a 5-star restaurant. The hotel decor is well suited to the ambience it portrays. Nice architectural design both inside and outside of building.

Great dinner day 1. Nice public onsen!
No shuttle bus to bus station, have to roll luggage up steep hill. Also motion detector lights in room a bit annoying.

The location of this hotel was really great. It is near to the central of the onsen town but away from the noisy area. It was not too difficult to drive to and we managed to get a good parking space too. The staff service was really good, explanation was clear and they are also very polite. Dinner and breakfast was definitely the highlight of the trip. Looks good and taste good. Onsen was awesome also and all in all, we will want to come back again if we are in Kusatsu.
Not at all.

I love the room. It is big, comfortable and nice design. The location is also wonderful although google maps and Waze were not able to pin point the exact location but you can try to navigate using the pin on the map. Wifi is good also.
Check out took a lot of time. You will have to settle your bill during check out. It would be more efficient if we pay first the room upon check in and pay additional if there addl services availed. Since checkout time is 11am all of the guests check out all at the same time since you cannot request room extension. Which cause long lines and wait in small lobby. I hope they can improve on this one.

The hotel is located between the Kusatsu Onsen bus terminal and the Yubatake and are very accessible to each other within a 5-10 minute walk. The staff and the hotel manager were very helpful and friendly. I lost my iPhone in the highway bus the day before and they helped us communicated with the bus company and handled it really well. The phone would barely be found again without the help of the hotel staff. The stay was very comfortable and we were served with excellent Japanese gourmet for our breakfast and dinner. When we were about to leave the hotel, the hotel staff even offered us a bus trip to get to the bus terminal for free. This was really helpful as we got lots of heavy luggages to carry along. I would definitely choose to stay in this hotel if I go to Kusatsu Onsen again.
