Nice spacious rooms which is great for an overnight stay in Fenquihu (or even longer!). Given it's located in a small town in a regional area, you do need to compromise on some comforts (e.g. the hot water is unavailable at certain times of the day, and breakfast consists of some vouchers to use at the 7-11 store upstairs). Highly recommended are the bento boxes on sale at the property - very delicious and great value for money! Fenquihu is a wonderful little town and the Fenquihu hotel is a great place to base yourself.
The room was great; nice and spacious, but the pillows were like slabs of granite!! Plus, I couldn't get the TV to work, but I wasn't too worried about this - it forced me to read a book instead...no bad thing!

Excellent location. Friendly, helpful and accommodating staff (I had to postpone my check in date a day later, and even though they didn't refund me for that one night, they offered me a voucher of same value to be used in the hotel). Room (deluxe quad) was nice and large. Noteworthy mention - beds and pillows are comfy! Definitely one of the most comfy I've experienced compared to other hotels I've stayed in during my travels this period.
Shower area not cordoned off, so the whole bathroom gets wet - not a biggy though, bathroom is large enough that if you showered towards the far side you minimise the water going to the toilet area. Also, no lifts - so if you have lots of luggage you'll have to carry it up a flight of stairs or two. I'm sure staff would help though if you asked.

Highly recommend. 10/10. Room - spacious, clean, and comfortable with a beautiful view of the mountains. Staff - Friendly and helpful. We were checking out on Typhoon Day, so all public transport had been suspended. The hotel staff provided us with accurate, up-to-date information and options to leave safely with a local driver or remain until Typhoon had passed. We opted for the local driver. The hotel prepared everything for our early morning descent before the Typhoon was scheduled to impact the region. Location - in the heart of the township. Stunning surroundings. We would definitely return here. The highlight of our visit to Taiwan.

Only a set of stairs away from Fenqihu railway station, this place is a bit dated but full of old charm characters. The front desk staff are very friendly, polite and informative. The Japanese style room is clean, warm and spacious. We were given free herbal bath packs to enjoy a hot herbal bath in the cute timber bathtub in our bathroom, it's excellent after our 2 days hike in Alishan. The bento at the hotel was much more delicious than the one we tried at the old street. We also loved the free fireflies walking tour. Our guide is professional and informative. We were lucky to spotted a number of fireflies.

I loved the spaciousness of the room! Though, it was essentially a four-person room shared between 2 people so for a family of four, it should a decent amount of space. I really liked that they provided some bath herbs for your bath in the wooden tub. Staff were busy, but very prompt and helpful in booking a taxi for us to our next destination. Small thing - but I appreciated the hot water and cool water dispenser directly outside our room haha.
The steps down from the Alishan railway are quite steep, so please be careful if you're travelling with large luggage. It was also slightly difficult to find our way from the railway station to the hotel because there aren't clear signs to direct you, google maps isn't very clear, so we had to ask the station staff for guidance. Free breakfast came in the form of 7/11 coupons - 100TWD per person.

Great location to local street foods, literally is the site of the best bento boxes in the neighborhood, was also great proximity to some beautiful hikes around the area. The staff was extremely helpful for helping us navigate how to get to alishan, gave recommendations for hikes, and also helped book the best private driver to help navigate the mountain roads without getting carsick from alishan back to the hotel. Amazing customer service and location in the village!
It would have been nice if all rooms could have the cedar bath option.

The staff were really great. Helped us to use the local buses to get to Alishan and also arranged for a local driver to fetch us when we came back after the bus stopped running. There are also hikes organised at 3pm, 5pm and 9am. We managed to join the 3pm and had a fabulous time. There is a possibility for a Japanese set dinner at night if you place your order by 5pm.
It’s a bit of a climb from the hotel to the main road so beware if you have heavy suitcases.

The staff is super helpful and friendly! As there is only limited bus coming back and forth from fenqihu to Alishan, they make suggestions for us and even arranged for a car ride back to the hotel from shi zhuo as there is no more public transport to the hotel. Additionally, the hotel also provided 3 different tour starting from morning to evening for the guest staying there. Our family attended 2 tours one in the morning where they took us to sightseeing around the area while the other is an evening tour where they will take us to see fireflies! Both free tours have created a unique experience for us during the stay at Fenchihu hotel! Lastly, as for food wise they do provide their own special fenchihu bento which is super delicious! Definitely a must to try when you are there! Overall, my family had a great stay there and would definitely recommend our friends and relatives to stay at Fenchihu hotel if they are travelling there!

Great location in the middle of Fenchihu. Really characterful building and rooms. Although an old 'character' property - definitely not a luxury hotel - there were lots of unexpected thoughtful touches ( e.g.Alishan tea and teaset in room, old cedar wood bath and bathing salts) that really added to our stay. Do ask about firefly tours - we did one and it was a highlight of our trip, with hundreds of fireflies seen.
There's no allocated parking but getting parked in one of the free public carparks a short walk away was easy. It might be harder if arriving on a weekend, but I expect it would still be possible.

Very spacious rooms, comfortable beds. Good location if you want to explore fenqihu.
Despite the location in fenqihu and the hotel offering of lunch boxes and a 7/11, most of the shops in old town close before dinner and are mostly snacks anyway, so there isn’t much selection of places to eat. You have to drive 15 minutes to find more places. Also the hotel was very comfortable but outside the room it always smells like food cooking.
