The best part about Vancouver Backpacker House was the friendly faces both from Max, the manager and Nancy the caretaker. They were very helpful and lovely to chat with. Nancy especially made me feel very welcomed in a city I was new to. The other guests are what truly makes a hostel experience worthwhile. I was introduced to many lovely folk and despite not being in the heart of downtown, Burnaby is still a side of BC I was happy to call my temporary home.

Admittedly due to the age of a place like this, the walls were quite thin and hard to adjust to at first.

So far this has been a great trip around for myself and my partner. When I return to the area I look forward to using these accommodations again.

I would have to say the couple of things I didn't like were the amount of cameras on the property and in the home. None in bedrooms or bathrooms. Also for people like myself who travel light the cost of an individual towel I found a little high. Ultimately I walked to Walmart and bought a couple of towels.

I enjoyed my stay here. Very comfortable place - well equipped kitchen and tidy fridge is available for use, multiple common areas, clean bathrooms with reliable hot water, good wifi, conveniently located next to Metrotown station and the shopping centre, easy check in process.

Not a super social hostel, but everyone was friendly

Its quiet and its comfy, very accessible to metro, groceries, shops and reastaurants.

Maybe the constant moving at the top level of the floor because I was staying at the basement level. I just wish the other shower the bigger one have adjusted hot water because its super hot 😅

The location is decent, its a very peaceful area. Checking-in and out was easy. Bed as comfy, and everything else worked fine for me. Very standard house décor, simple and to the point. I had a good stay here, thank you.

the décor I guess, and some basic renovations to make it more appealing to the eye, but I'd honestly rather it stay simple to keep the price low. Most backpackers are just looking for a spot to crash anyhow.

Excellent breakfast, very much unexpected Bathrooms very clean.

Room REALLY, REALLY small. Surprised at the huge gate to the rooms section. Although I was able to park my car right n front of the door, the car could stay there only till 8 am, as it was parkometer spot which could not be loaded for more than 2 hrs.

Nice common area, cozy bed, and secure self check-in process. Quick walk to the train station for getting around. As long as you are lucky with who else shares the room the price can't be beat.

Providing towels and body wash would have been nice, but not a deal breaker.

The area was easy to locate! If you listen to information the owners state, it genuinely makes sense. You could always use google maps, and zoom in and it makes sense with the detail they send you! It’s in a completely safe area where all the noise is.

You just have to press clear when entering the code to your room or the front door. And that’s usually not stated.

The affordability and cleaness! I am student and I need an medical care but I do not have much money to spend on staying in hotel and this place give me opportunity to stay in Van for my surgery.

I booked a single room to pre-study for school and the host gave me a double room with a large table and a chair to study! Shower never gets cold, and even had cookware. Got a lot done in those two days I stayed.
