The location was fabulous with the most amazing view. We stayed in the largest room with the wooden bathtub…the suite was beautifully decorated and very large and comfortable. We were the only guests so had the run of the castle. Wonderful breakfast spread and eggs etc was also on offer, unfortunately we are not really breakfast people but everything we had was delicious! The owner Alexander spoke Russian with little English, however we managed to communicate sufficiently, very welcoming. A bottle of their own wine was waiting to welcome us. Beautiful walk along the river.

We stayed before the beginning of the season so dinner was not available, however we found a great restaurant about 20 minutes away. We did find it hard to get a comfortable temperature for the 2 air conditioners on the remotes …but wasn’t worth bothering anyone.

Where to start?! Maybe with... This is a real castle! The room we booked was truly gorgeous. The entire panoramic wall was made of glass, the interior inside the room was made of wood and beautiful furniture in a high-quality, expensive style. The bathroom is a separate story, with a simply beautiful and rare design. The bathtub is made of wood, we highly recommend trying it.., the toilet is in a separate room. The hosts took extremely good care of the guests & we've being received at a high level! The breakfast and its serving created an atmosphere of such a high level that can only be obtained in a castle, and unfortunately today not so many people know how to provide guests with such a high level of rest. Gratitude for everything, everything was at the highest level!!! Look regard to visit you again

I had a great stay at this hotel! The room was very clean, and I especially enjoyed the beautiful view from the window!! The breakfast was delicious with a nice variety, and the staff were extremely kind and helpful. Overall, a lovely experience — I would definitely stay here again!

We were charged for two bottles of water. For a hotel in this price range, I believe it would be more appropriate to offer at least one complimentary bottle of water per day in the room.

This place is truly charming, offering a deep sense of peace and harmony. We only stayed for one night, but we are already eager to return and spend more time here. The room exudes intimacy, history, and quietness, while the nearby river creates a natural harmony that makes the experience unforgettable. The host welcomed us warmly and even surprised us with a thoughtful gift, making our stay feel even more special.

The property has been renovated to a high standard. Our suite was very comfortable and spacious. It is beautiful setting with great views all around. Breakfast was varied and generous. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately the evening meal in the restaurant wasn’t great. Limited menu, as only a few guests. It was cooked to order but seemed like frozen food reheated. We would have preferred that they recommended a local restaurant. Breakfast was very generous though. And it was nice to be able to sample different wines.

The breakfast was fabulous. The dining room is so nice with the view of the river. The food was wonderful and there was way more than we could all eat. My grandparents owned the castle and it was in the family until the recent sale and renovation. It was amazing to be in the castle and the small village of Vinica. I would love to return some day.

The location is very good. It's only a mile from the border with Croatia, How easy is that. There is a garage just in front of Vinica Castle, so very easy to buy a vignette if you don't have one already. Vinica a lovely old restored castle. We stayed in the tower rooms, the bathroom was amazing. A wooden bath, with an array of bubble bath and salts, and a wooden sink, we have never seen anything like it. A lovely set of old beams into the eaves. A large and very comfortable bed. A huge TV in the sitting room, with a Chesterfield three piece leather suite. Drinks from the fridge available. A great breakfast as well the next morning, served by a lovely lady who kindly made us scrambled eggs for breakfast. An assortment of jams, honey, and slices of cheeses and meats available, plus a lovely array of muesli. Fresh coffee. Marvelous.

it was a shame that the air conditioning machine broke down in the room we had booked at the castle. It was very beautiful, a little warm without the aircon. The bed overlooked a complete wall of glass, straight down to the river and the woods. Absolutely stunning.The manager was brilliant though, and he put us straight into the Tower rooms with no hesitation. Of course all machines break down at some point! We could have quite happily stayed for another few nights!

It was an extremely unique place to stay, we loved it. The staff was super friendly and helpful. There is a river for swimming at the bottom of the hill. Breakfast was fantastic as well.

The Deluxe Suite (with jacuzzi) was too hot even with the AC going full blast. I would not book that room again if temperatures are in the 30s C.

What an amazing place! Super quality hotel with high quality wooden furniture and finishing. Even the bath tub and sink were made of wood. The beds were super comfortable. The castle was amazing with the medieval feel in a modern upgrade without losing the character of the place. Staff were very helpful and accomodating to all our requests. The view of the castle is amazing and is located in the border with Croatia. The location is ideal if you want to explore parts of croatia and slovenia at the same time. The breakfast was nicely prepared as well. We will surely return to this place! Highly recommended!
