We had our own little bedroom, bathroom and courtyard out the back of the house. It was lovely and private. The bed and linen was brilliant and the bathroom clean and big. The shower was lovely and good water pressure. The whole property was lovely. The breakfast was delicious and to sit in the court yard watching the birds was a very peaceful way to start the day. Rob, Aimee and the staff were lovely. They even helped us store our frozen bread over night so that it wouldn't defrost. Rob gave us a great recommendation for a restaurant for dinner "hello you" and it really was so lovely to eat there. The food was brilliant and well priced.

Nothing

This was a 5 star experience. Not only are the facilities great, the hosts and staff make you feel like you visited some great friends after a long time apart. They really go out of their way to make you feel welcome and have excellent tips for food and sights, without ever feeling intrusive or annoying. The breakfast was excellent as well, perfect to wake up to after a very comfy night's sleep. Super impressed, on my next Karoo trip I will definitely stay here.

That I only could only stay one night.

Absolutely magnificent stay. Great location within Graaff-Reinet, secure and quiet whilst still being at walking distance of restaurants etc. Great hosts as well, in every sense (friendly, communicative, helpful, ...). They helped us with the rest of our travel plans, which otherwise could've been a bit of a disaster! House is superb and room as well, renovated beautifully with great skill. I'm not one to give rave reviews easily, but this is honestly one of those 6 out of 5 stars!

The room upstairs had an exceptional view that you can watch either indoor on a couch or outdoor by the balcony. The deco items have been well thought, it is aesthetically pleasing. The room was clean, host and stuff amazing. The food was so good. They really put good thought into every area of the property.

The dogs coming to me upon arrival and following us when host was showing us around. I have a phobia and serious past trauma with dogs.

We have repeatedly traveled to South Africa and always enjoyed the wonderful hospitality. However, the generosity, attention and kindness of Rob and Aimee exceeded our expectations by far. It is for this very reason - and actually for them personally - that we have decided to write our first review ever. Please do expect a clean and very eco-friendly accommodation, the most caring and respectful hosts, very relaxed and friendly dogs, a lovely breakfast cooked in front of your eyes as well as great advice on where to dine in Graaff-Reinet. It is truly enchanting.

Lovely house and garden, inviting common area and wonderfully decorated room. We hadn’t realized the “open plan” included the toilet… (our fault) - and were a bit scared the floorboards would give (especially after a nice dinner in town). The pool was a bit disappointing, since very slippery at the bottom - but the garden was lovely to behold. Rob & Aimee were great hosts and the breakfast one of the best of our trip.

What stood out was the warmth of the welcome and the sound advice from Rob - 'chill, you only go up to the Valley of Desolation for sunset.' So the garden and pool allowed one to cool down and relax after an exceptionally hot drive. The patio area in summer with a coffee station and if you travel in winter the beautifully decorated lounge make you feel at home. So do Aimee and the staff who organised breakfast and tailored to my requirements. And there was the early warning message about the lack of options to eat on a Sunday night and sound advice about where to go for dinner - I opted to get a takeaway from Frontiers and have it at a viewing point in the mountains......

Beautiful room and common areas. Beautiful manicured garden with pool (we did not try the pool). The hosts were outstanding and went out of their way to get us medication since we were both unwell. We loved the little gardening patch with its fruit trees and veggies. We loved the proximity to the Camdeboo national park with its Valley of Desolation. Most of all, we loved that we could watch the stars from the little patio chairs outside our room

There was nothing we didn’t like

After a long drive from Port Elizabeth, we arrived to a lovely welcome from Aimee & Rob at The Whyte House. The property is a veritable oasis within the charming & historic town of Graaf Reinet, and our suite was extremely large, very stylish & equipped with everything we could possibly need. Rob was a font of knowledge, and sent us off to see the sunset at the nearby Valley of Desolation in Camdeboo National Park that evening, as well as an excellent recommendation for dinner afterwards at Hello You restaurant in town. Breakfast the next morning was delicious (thank you Aimee!) & before setting off, Rob gave us more great tips for stop-offs en route to Oudtshoorn. We cannot recommend The Whyte House highly enough.

I only wish we’d booked to stay for more than one night.

Place was great, bed very comfortable, open plan bathroom, all worked well for us. Safe off street parking, which is always a concern if it is not a rental vehicle. Nice breakfast, inside or outside, weather dependent, of course. Rob was on hand at arrival to give a quick overview of the town, so very professional and pleasant approach.

Not much, it was perfect for us. One can always find a problem, but nothing that bothered us.
