The staff were so friendly and helpful. Special shout out to Jannie and Thabo that assisted us with fixing our car. All the staff made my husband's birthday so special. The lovely Lucy was just a bonus. The beauty of the area is unmatched, and the food and service was spectacular.

Nothing it was superb

What a special place nestled in the mountains. Our accommodation was wonderful. We had the Penthouse which was so comfortable, easily fit our family of 4. Very close to the main reception, swimming pool and cafe. The staff couldn’t do enough for us. So helpful and friendly. We decided from night 1 we’d eat in the restaurant as the food was delicious and the menu changed each night. We would 100% visit again. Yes, there is a gravel road for about 20 mins but once you’ve done it once it’s not so bad. Just slow and steady.

Everything was wonderful. Nothing negative.

The location in the hills surrounded by nature The size of the cottage and the equipment provided

The hotel advised us to arrive before dark, but we could not make it. Driving down the municipality road with a sedan car through the night and the fog was a bit tense. The amount of lighting in the cottage could be improved, it was a bit too dark at night.

Our stay at Mount Sheba Rainforest Hotel and Resort was nothing short of extraordinary. Traveling with my wife and young daughter, we discovered the perfect balance of relaxation, adventure, and awe-inspiring natural beauty. One of the highlights was our hike to Marco’s Mantle waterfall. The experience was both invigorating and serene, surrounded by the tranquil forest and the soothing sound of cascading water. Dima’s clear and thoughtful guidance ensured we navigated the trails with ease. For anyone visiting Mount Sheba, exploring the waterfalls and hiking trails is an absolute must—it’s an experience that truly connects you with nature. The accommodations were a delightful blend of elegance and comfort. Cozy fireplaces made our evenings wonderfully relaxing, while pre-heated blankets added a touch of luxury on chilly nights. The staff went above and beyond, offering warm hospitality and impeccable attention to detail. The meals, from hearty breakfasts to satisfying dinners, were a true culinary treat. Mount Sheba is a haven of tranquility, offering breathtaking scenery and activities for visitors of all ages. It was the perfect family retreat, and we are already looking forward to returning and creating more unforgettable memories. This destination is a gem for anyone seeking peace, adventure, and the charm of nature’s finest!

We truly loved everything about the property—it’s a fantastic destination with exceptional value for money. However, one piece of advice for future visitors: plan to arrive during daylight hours, particularly if you’re driving a vehicle with low clearance. The road leading to the property can be a bit challenging, but the journey is worth it once you arrive. 😁

Absolutely amazing — one of the nicest places we stayed at in South Africa. The dinners were truly memorable, with a cozy fireplace atmosphere and a superb 4-course meal that was both delicious and high in quality. The hiking trails are beautiful, especially the one leading to the waterfall, and the sunrise views are breathtaking. The staff were warm and welcoming, and a special mention goes to Lucy, their lovely dog, who adds a homely and charming touch to the whole experience. The rooms were spotless, the pool was well-maintained, and the entire property felt peaceful and inviting. We’d definitely love to come back!

I recently had the pleasure of spending a weekend away that left me feeling completely refreshed and rejuvenated. The whole experience was just the right mix of relaxation, adventure, and amazing food. The dinners! Each dish was thoughtfully prepared and bursting with flavor. You could tell that the chefs were passionate about using quality ingredients, and it really elevated the entire experience. One of the highlights of the trip was definitely the hike to the waterfalls. The trail was scenic and peaceful, with lush greenery surrounding us every step of the way. The waterfall itself was breathtaking, with crystal-clear water cascading down the rocks, creating a soothing, almost magical atmosphere. We spent a little while there, just soaking in the natural beauty. It was the perfect escape from the daily grind. All in all, I highly recommend Mount Shaba to anyone who's looking for a peaceful, rejuvenating getaway!

The roads to the resort which we where aware of from previous reviews. The shower heads needs replacing.

The location of the resort is truly remarkable—secluded and surrounded by natural beauty. While the initial stretch of road leading to the property is somewhat rough, the sense of calm and remoteness it offers is well worth it. The resort is rich in character, filled with memorabilia and steeped in history, offering fascinating insight into the Gold Rush era and the heritage of Pilgrim’s Rest. The food was satisfactory, though there is room for improvement. That said, the hospitality and service were exceptional—warm, attentive, and welcoming throughout our stay. This is a place where you naturally find yourself drawn into its historical charm. I would highly recommend booking a longer stay to fully appreciate both the peaceful setting and the surrounding walking trails, which add to the overall experience.

Food could have been better, but the hospitality is nevertheless amazing.

The resort is hidden between mountains, which can only be reached by driving through a rainforest - which was a magical experience. Upon arrival, the staff were extremely friendly. Our unit, which sports a fireplace, was immaculate, with a huge bathroom and an exceptionally comfortable bed. It also has two comfortable chairs in front of the fireplace. The unit was cleaned every day, and the firewood was replaced at no extra charge. The food was excellent, and the breakfast was scrumptious. The bar has a dart board and a pool table, which we enjoyed immensely. It was fantastic fun to relax and be well-treated.
