A Perfect Stay at Sugarbird Manor We recently enjoyed a three-night stay at Sugarbird Manor in Stellenbosch, and it was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the breathtaking surroundings—nestled among vineyards and rolling hills, the location offers a true escape into nature while still being conveniently close to Stellenbosch’s charming town center. The service was outstanding, with Megan going above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. Her warm hospitality, local knowledge, and willingness to assist with anything we needed made all the difference. Whether it was recommendations for wineries, dinner reservations, or simply making us feel at home, she was incredibly helpful. Our room was spacious, beautifully designed, and offered stunning views of the landscape. Waking up to the sight of vineyards and mountains was an experience in itself. The property is immaculately maintained, and the peaceful atmosphere made it the perfect place to relax and unwind. We cannot recommend Sugarbird Manor enough—it’s a hidden gem in Stellenbosch that combines luxury, comfort, and impeccable service. We’ll definitely be back!

I had a fantastic stay, From the moment I arrived, the hospitality was top-notch—the staff was warm, welcoming, and always ready to assist with a smile. The room was spacious, impeccably clean, and beautifully designed for comfort. The bed was incredibly cozy, ensuring a restful sleep. Plus, the view from my window was breathtaking! The breakfast was another highlight of my stay. There was a wide variety of fresh and delicious options, from pastries and fruits to hot dishes made to perfection. The quality and taste were exceptional!

Sugarbird is in a beautiful, elevated location with fabulous views. The hotel is tastefully decorated & comfortable. There are 2 delightful pool areas which also benefit from the views. A lovely courtyard was a welcome retreat when it was too breezy. A very warm welcome on our arrival our room overlooked the garden with a very nice terrace. The breakfasts were delicious. The service was good & we were joined by a flock of peacocks which was an added bonus. A gorgeous, peaceful location & we are very happy to recommend the Sugarbird.

The location is remote & you need a car or taxi to explore the area but this does give you the peace & quiet & the property is well secured.

Lovely cottage! We stayed in cottage 4, which is very quiet as it is not next to the (exten) pool and it has a wonderful view over the winelands. There is an extra pool for the cottages (and one for the rooms in the main building). The stuff was very very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our relaxing time and would have loved to stayed longer.

We had a VERY big black/brown spider on the wall in the room. It took us by surprise even though I had read it in another review before. So just be prepared for that or ask the stuff about the spiders when you arrive. Just one more thing: We payed 25€ for the laundry (only a few cloths) (although it was ready after a few hours and was done very nicely, which was of course great, it is cheaper to let it be done at other places).

Our stay at Sugarbird Manor was simply the highlight of our holiday. We stayed there due to attending a wedding in the area and we stayed longer to relax afterwards which was the best idea. We booked one of the cottages which had a private pool and was truly exceptional. A special thank you to the wonderful Megan who was so warm, lovely and welcoming on arrival and throughout our stay and very helpful with coordinating Uber for us. We will 10000000% be staying again next year hopefully and wished we’d booked for longer. Thank you!!

The neatness of the manor, staff friendliness and overall serenity of the area.

A minor yet important inconvenience, the rooms on the ground floor are not soundproof. Guests who are coming back from Stellenbosch or ones who are up early in the morning and talk / walk can be heard very clearly. According to a staff member during checking out, some improvements were made for this. However, this did not have a positive effect. Would suggest to tell visitors to go outside if they want to talk and keep quiet in the hallway between 10PM and 8AM.

Wonderful setting about 8kms outside Stellenbosch which is an easy Uber ride. Quality fittings throughout and whilst a small staff they are brilliant. Upon arrival and beyond, Megan was so helpful. No dinner but simple breakfast was beautifully served on patio. We stayed in the main property for 2 nights but they also have separate 'mini suites' in the beautifully laid out grounds. 2 swimming pools as well. Hopefully we will return to Stellenbosch and if we do we will definitely return to Sugarbird Manor.

I was upgraded to studio style accommodation away from the main rooms. It felt like my own little sanctuary. I arrived early and did not have to wait to check in. My only neighbours were the peacocks (gorgeous but entirely self-involved) and the chicken (aloof). Breakfast was delicious: the staff were attentive, helpful and cheerful. The place is stunning and expansive with wonderful views. The pools are lovely too. It is easy to get into town in a cab. I felt safe and secure and at ease.

We are so happy of our choice, the location is quiet, peaceful and enchanting. 10 min driving from Stellenbosh. Our room was spacious, clean and completely renovated. It had a spectacular view on the beautiful and green wineries. Breakfast was delicious and served in a beautiful patio where you can really feel a connection with nature. The staff is young, friendly and very helpful. Thanks again for suggesting us some wineries we would have never discovered by ourselves!

Beautiful location - out of town so you can enjoy the countryside with gorgeous views of the vineyards and the mountains. But close enough to town to go out for dinner (it’s a 10 min uber ride and they’re cheap and readily available). It’s also close to lots of great wine farms and you can also uber to them. Breakfast is yummy too. Perfect spot to stay to enjoy the wine farms. And a gorgeous little ginger cat called Nacho X
