Excellent location on a busy wine estate with lovely views all around. We loved staying in an older house. The main house is beautiful and we loved having breakfast either outside or in the elegant dining room. Comfortable room. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice plunge pool. Very good (complimentary) wine tasting followed by delicious lunch up at Paulina’s. A very relaxing and peaceful stay.
It would be helpful to have a bin in the bedroom near the coffee/tea station. Lighting could be better and a couple of free sockets near the bed would help. NB despite details on Booking.com, robes not provided.

In our opinion : A Really good place to stay, providing value for money and friendly accommodating staff. The breakfast has been enhanced since our first stay and has some nice features. It was also good quality and cooked well (tasty start to the day) This is the second time we have stayed at Basse Provence and it met all our expectations.
Some attention to detail is missing. There are a number of things that need to be improved or dealt with. For example: the shower mixer handle came off in my hand and I found, in my opinion, the whole valve unit should be replaced - it works after a fashion but is worn out. The room had been repainted at some point, but there was still masking tape, which had been applied to the exposed roof beams, to protect them, had not been removed in some places. Repairs have been made to the handbasin taps (possibly new washers fitted) but the taps which were finished in white paint and gold plated have been damaged by a plumber's wrench and the paint is badly marked and scrapped off....not a good look!

Beautiful colonial property. Linked to rickety bridge winery which served fantastic food. Staff very friendly especially Precious. Room spacious, well equipped and spotlessly clean. Pool is small but quiet with about eight loungers - we had to ourself most of the time. Hotel supplied pool towels. Breakfast is as good as anything I have had - lovely platter of food followed by hot breakfast of your choice. Taxi is about five minutes from Franschhoek. I would suggest Uber rather than the hotels taxi recommendation - About 25% of the price. Recommend the wine tram
Would have been good to have been able to order drinks

Our breakfast was absolutely delicious, and the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. We arrived earlier than expected, but this was no issue at all—they kindly took care of our luggage while we explored the area. Later, when we returned after the official check-in time, everything had been perfectly arranged as we had communicated in advance. The estate itself is truly stunning—every corner radiates charm and tranquility. From the beautifully maintained gardens to the cozy, inviting atmosphere, it’s the perfect place to unwind and feel at home. Overall, our stay was a wonderful experience, thanks to the seamless service and the warm hospitality. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway.
The pool was a bit smaller than we had expected, but it was still very nice and beautifully designed. The surrounding area is truly stunning, with lush greenery and a serene atmosphere that makes it a perfect spot to relax. There are also plenty of comfortable sun loungers, allowing us to fully enjoy the peaceful setting and soak up the sun.

Our stay at this hotel in Franschhoek was highlighted by the complimentary wine tasting at Rickety Bridge, a thoughtful gesture that set the tone for a memorable visit. The service was exceptionally attentive, with the convenience of being able to contact them anytime via WhatsApp.Nestled in the picturesque surrounds of a renocated farm, the ambiance was charming.
The sound insulation could be better. We encountered a minor hiccup with a hidden cricket in the room affecting sleep quality. Despite efforts to locate and resolve the issue, it remained elusive. Additionally, the Wi-Fi signal was not robust

Good location, easy to get to franschoek for dinner. Stayed in the cottage separate to the main house which was very spacious. Pool cold (understandably) at this time of year. Breakfast was delicious and served in the main house. You could order items from a menu and a fruit/cheese/charcuterie/yogurt platter was brought to the table to devour as well. Complimentary wine tasting a bonus.

The room was large and lovely, very much winecountry decor. The breakfast is the same day-over-day, but it was delicious. Easy to get cabs from the stay, so it wasn't a hassle getting around. If you're looking for extreme quite, then this is your place.
The pool was not well maintained it seemed like. I did not feel comfortable going in, and it's rather small as well. I didn't have time to swim anyway, so it was fine for me, but keep in mind if you're looking to have the ultimate relaxation.

We loved our stay here - from the warm welcome as we arrived, the grounds were beautiful and we felt very safe, the room was large, airy and comfortable, the bathroom had a lovely large bath and rain shower. There is a small plunge pool outside with deckchairs although it was too cold to swim when we arrived - we were kindly provided "pool" towels when we showed an interest though so do ask if you are planning to swim. The breakfasts were exceptional - a small but delicious menu which still catered for all requirements and which included fruit and homemade muffins - portion sizes were substantial. Then there was the complimentary wine tasking at Rickety Bridge which was a lovely short walk away through the vineyards - wine was good enough to buy some bottles and we added a cheese platter at a small extra cost - a lovely relaxing way to wile away the day. It did mention that lunch was available at the restaurant at Rickety Bridge, but the breakfast and cheese platter kept us going until supper. We then went into town to Allora (though the town is close we were advised to drive for our safety) - the food here was truly wonderful. We were hoping to try another restaurant the following night possibly the French Quarter which we were told was also very good, but due to it be supper many places had stopped serving by 8pm - the Allora rescued us and so we indulged in a second meal there which we again really enjoyed.

Peaceful and quiet. Beautiful surroundings. We enjoyed the free wine tasting. Very comfortable beds and lovely crispy sheets. Fantastic breakfast .. continental AND full English. Excellent cleaning and refreshing the room daily. Lovely little swimming pool. House well positioned to get to Franschoek and the wine growers.
Loved it all!
