Avondrood is a small boutique hotel, which is well positioned in a nice, safe neighbourhood in the centre of Franschhoek. We booked this hotel as opposed to one of the larger ones, hoping to receive the personal touch and we were not disappointed as every member of staff really went out of their way to ensure we had an enjoyable and memorable stay. I even had a cake baked for my 60th birthday, which shows how much they value their customers! I can't see a large corporate hotel doing the same or even considering it.

Amazing people hosting us in a great place. Unbelievable hospitality, honesty bar with great selection. Breakfast buffet was so good that we never made it to the warm breakfast options. All ingredients are local, the selection just amazing. The rooms are spacious, clean, everything u need is there and minibar stacked with good options for a decent price. But the staff is the best - this is what moves it from wonderful to perfect at this place. Thanks for an unforgettable experience!

We loved everything about this property! It is 5 minutes walk into town centre where there are lots of great restaurants and shops. Whole area, and guest house itself felt very safe . Beautiful historic building which is elegantly furnished. and very well appointed. We were upgraded to room with private garden and direct access to lovely pool area- very special . Excellent breakfast served on terrace and very well stocked honesty bar in beautiful lounge area . Lots of other little touches to make your stay comfortable. Staff were very professional and helpful- welcoming us with a complimentary drink , booking restaurants, giving us lots of information and advice etc. We can’t recommend highly enough - this was the best guest house of our 2 week stay in South Africa.

The rooms were incredibly spacious and beautifully decorated with high-quality materials, creating a luxurious and comfortable atmosphere. Every detail was thoughtfully taken care of – from the abundance of plush towels to the inclusion of bathing salts for a relaxing soak. The room was fully equipped with everything you could need. On top of that, the hotel has the best location in Franschhoek!

Nothing, it was perfect

Location was prime. Carlos was just over and above every thing in every good way! He made the whole experience beautiful. We felt like absolute queens. We will be back in a heart beat! Thank you Carlos! The breakfast was delicious too.. the fire place with wine and backgammon - picturesque to say the least! A true gem!

Absolutely nothing. It was perfect.

Perfect location to explore the picture postcard town of Franschhoek. Buffet breakfast although simple was beautifully presented and enhanced with hot food options. The small quiches/frittatas were delicious. We stayed in the Mountain Suite and the accommodation was spacious and comfortable. It’s own wrap around terrace being a real bonus and a great place to relax. All in all, the Avondrood is a perfect representation of the delights of Franschhoek.

Pool looked cloudy (not sure it should have been) but due to weather we didn’t use it anyway.

Nicely situated at end of Main Street, rooms are large and have everything in you need. Lounge area is very cozy & welcoming - staff helpful with restaurant suggestions and booking a taxi when needed

Pool area seemed a bit shabby and outdoor seating not great quality. Breakfast was fine, but not excellent

Convenient location on a beautiful, quiet street, close to shops, restaurants, art galleries. Big, comfortable rooms, great ambiance, delicious breakfast , wonderful staff especially Karloff who did absolutely everything to make sure that we have an exquisite experience. Avondrood is an exceptional guest house - a beautiful place to stay. Our room took our breath away. The attention to detail in every part of the accommodation is to an incredibly high standard. The location is absolutely perfect, just minutes from the shops and restaurants. On top of all this the staff were OUTSTANDING! Justin and his first class, attentive team were all so courteous, friendly and helpful. David gave us the warmest of welcomes on arrival helping us settle in and plan our wine tram day. Jenny was a ray of sunshine at breakfast along with Caylin and it was great to have a daily chat with Justin making sure everyone was enjoying their stay. We didn’t get everyone’s names but thank you to you all for making our stay so memorable. We will return soon.

Beautiful comfortable small boutique hotel. Great location very peaceful and felt at home. Staff so lovely and couldn’t do enough for you. Breakfast was lovely and great choice

The only thing is the chairs on the patio are so uncomfortable and wobbly
