The size of the room (Room number 3) was exceptional. There was plenty of hot water with great water pressure in the shower. As we visited in the heart of Winter, Franschhoek was really cold during the night but the availability of a very efficient airconditioner with heating function made the room really comfortable. A fireplace is available as well with a big, comfortable lounge suite for a romantic glass of wine in front of the fire. A bathroom heater is available as well with great products from Charlotte Rhys. A stocked mini bar is available. We did not switch on the television as there's no time for watching TV if you're in Franschhoek. Check in was a breeze. Oh, and the art! Lionel Smit paintings are to be found everywhere, what a treat! The location is excellent as you're a couple of minutes walk from the main road in Franschhoek with all the restaurants within reach. Park your car, walk and explore!

With the price of the accommodation, I would have expected a complimentary bottle of water (or two per room). This however was charged at R25 per bottle. Being Winter, I expected a warm blanket as most other higher end rooms have this on offer. It would have been great if the mini bar options could have included some biltong, nuts and some crisps.

I made a mistake when booking: I booked 3 days instead of 2. I found out when I went to check out. So I asked if there was any possibility of getting a partial refund for the unused accommodation. The manager, who was very kind and understood that I was acting in good faith, told me she would forward the request to the owners and let me know the answer by email. I never received a reply. I was disappointed and would like to point out that I would have appreciated a reply even if they had denied me a partial refund for my mistake. I found it a lapse of style not in line with the quality of the services offered.

Great location in Franschoek. Fabulous property with gorgeous and relaxing gardens and courtyard. Kind and helpful staff, delicious breakfast served on the terrace (in nice weather). Beautiful and comfortable room with some lovely Belgian chocolates as welcome snack.

While the evening bathroom shower was great, unfortunately by morning there was only a trickle of water to shower with. This was unexpected from such a highly rated property (and $$$). Hopefully we were just unlucky and this issue is solved for future guests.

We were visiting Franschhoek for the Bastille Festival which due to the Cape storms had to be postponed. Macaron Guest House were very accommodating in changing the dates of our stay even though we were within the cancellation period, so that was very much appreciated. The location of the guest house is superbly situated within easy walking distance to the town and attractions and the breakfast was superb!

The wood fire in the room made everything smell of smoke when waking in the morning.

Location was excellent, close to everything. We were able to walk to the restaurant at night, perfectly safe. The staff at breakfast were very accommodating. Food was laid out beautifully. The staff made your coffee fresh for you every morning, whether cappuccino or espresso. And they asked if they could prepare you a hot breakfast, eggs, etc. The rooms were very clean and paid attention to little details that make a difference…good quality soaps and shampoo, bathrobe and slippers. They arranged for a driving for us before and after our stay. And had good recommendations regarding vineyards and restaurants. The owner was onsite during our visit and was very friendly and took time to chat with us.

Great location, comfortable and elegant with the best service in Franschhoek. We had a wonderful stay and were shown such help and consideration it made the last few days of our holiday a real Highlight despite me being ill. Lovely tranquil gardens to relax in, really comfortable beds and lovely little touches everywhere. A fantastic choice that we’d love to return to.

Nothing everything was lovely

Breakfast was lovely, we took ours outside on the terrace, however if the weather wasn't as good it is still lovely inside :) Rooms we spacious and clean, comfy beds and pillows. Location is brilliant, right in town so you can walk everywhere!

Not much to dislike, although I don't have eggs or dairy which limited my choices. I didn't let them know this in advance though so very much on me!!

We loved the decor and atmosphere. Not very big and felt relaxed and friendly. Felt like Home from home. There was a huge storm the night before we should have left. The town was completely cut off and no one could get out. Some of the rooms got flooded. It was so sad. They couldn’t have been more accommodating. Kirsten was amazing, so sweet. She managed to make the best of a bad situation. She didn’t charge for us all to stay an extra night. Hardly any electricity or water. She managed to rustle up the food she had as all shops and restaurants closed. We had a real fire and all sat playing games and music. I would definitely stay here again wonderful.

There need to be more usb connection points in the room. There is a table with a chair and no connection points. The kettle and the Nespresso machine have a very short electrical cable. It is difficult to fill the kettle.

Good location, setting and staff. Decent breakfast.

Room under furnished/decorated. Also very monochrome. More substantial curtains and a door into bedroom (or think curtain along with as certain amount of gentle colour might improve.
