The owners are amazing and so serviceable. I arrived at 10 in the morning and knew I could not check in yet. However, the owner gave me a free room upgrade so I could already check in. Instead of a shared room I got my own, which was very spacious, comfortable, clean and nice. She gave me a welcome iced tea as well and when I left they easily arranged a taxi for me as well. The location is also great. Just 7 minutes by bus to the park or 20/30 minutes by foot. There is also a 7 eleven around the corner! Would definitely stay here again and can recommend it!

I saw people in the reviews complaining about a hard bed, but I had no problems with that personally. And yes it’s a little outdated, but so is the whole village. I personally think that is part of the charm! So I have no complaints.

Location is excellent for access to the National Park. Located just a couple of minutes from the bus stop it is easily accessible from Sokcho and about 20minutes (or 2 bus stops) from the National Park itself. Within a short walking distance property there are a couple of convenience stores and a number of small restaurants, although October seemed to be lower season. The owner is delightful and extremely helpful. Stayed in the Bungalow which is a quirky addition to the hotel. With underfloor heating, aircon and a small kitchen. The beds are traditional futon style and are a little thin if you are used to a western mattress.

Nice hotel conveniently located near to the Seoraksan park (20 min walk or 5 min bus) and bunch of restaurants nearby. Very friendly staff family is keeping this place: they are ready to help with all information about the park and tracking routes. Room and bathroom are big and have water heating in floor, boiler with drinking water and free coffee! Breakfast is cheap and good enough, so it’s worth to take it. Special thanks for bonus hot milk with crackers!

Everything is fine, but breakfast start time is a little bit late for hikers (8:30).

The place seems to be a family-run business and both the husband and wife were very friendly. The husband even offered to drive me to a hot springs bath five minutes away and lent me an umbrella as it was raining heavily. The wife offered me some cookies and tea one night as a kind gesture. Breakfast is home-cooked and there was both rice and cereal available for 7000 won. I tried it for one morning and it was okay, but there are more varied options in the national park with all its cafes. The room was big and came with a mountain view. The bathroom came with a bath tub, which was nice, although the water took a while to heat up. It was very quiet when I was there as I was probably the only guest at that time. It's a 30 minute walk along a nice path along the river, or two bus stops to the national park, which was quite convenient as the bus came frequently. The next closest accommodation would be Kensington hotel, which is right next to the national park, but that would have cost a lot more. Just down the slope from The Red House is a stretch of restaurants and cafes, as well as a 7-11, which would meet all your needs. I liked that it was quiet and peaceful there as not many tourists seem to stay around this area.

If you can get past all the abandoned hotels in the area, it's actually a pretty peaceful and quiet place. The restaurants close at 7 pm, so you have to eat dinner before then, but the 7-11 is open until 11 pm. There is a hot springs town just a 5 minute drive away but the bus doesn't go there, so you'll need to call for a taxi.

The hotel owners are by far the friendliest, most helpful and genuine people I have met for a long time. They both went above and beyond to make our stay great! We were provided so much information about all of the hikes in Seoroksan and even helped with looking on Naver for information about our stay in the next city we were going to. We were given chargers to borrow and were able to leave luggage prior to check in. There were no communication issues as the owners used translation apps (even though their English is great!). The room was clean and large. We were provided soaps and toothpaste. They even included a floor mattress free of charge. Hiking tips: there's a bus outside of the hotel or you can walk 3-4km to Seoroksan National Park. The same bus also goes to Sokcho. There's a 7/11 close by and a BBQ restaurant that is open til 11pm. There are also some cafes and other restaurants. Seoroksan itself has many restaurants and lots of toilets at the beginning and during the hikes. If you're interested in the cable car it can book out / have a long line so it's worth booking a time when it's quieter in the morning.

A very good experience! The red house is a very special place, mostly thanks to its very special and friendly host. We had a very good time here, and found the service offered to have a very good value for money. The house is at a walking distance from the national park and the bus going between there and Sokcho passes every 20-25 minutes. A small store is conveniently located at 200 meters from the Red house, and remains open until 23:00. The host was extremely gentle, even for Korean standards, and kindly replied to all our (sometimes unnecessary) questions. I recommend visiting his manga/manhua collection in the basement.

Not a lot of dining options around the Red house after 19:00. However, you can conveniently eat pizza or ramen at the Red house itself until 22:00!

Amazing location, super helpful hosts. The owners helped me coordinate an early morning taxi for my hike and explained in detail all the different trails. 7 eleven and 2 nice restaurants for dinner a 3 minute walk and the shuttle bus to the park is a 3 minute walk or the entrance is about a 20-30 min walk away. The room was spacious with a good AC and clean bathroom.

The best wasn’t the most comfortable, mattresses / pillows could use an upgrade

The hotel offers warm hospitality from the owners, location, and simple but detailed charms around the property. The location itself was better than I expected because it was close to the national park entrance and within easy walking distance to restaurants and convenience stores. While the furniture and finishes are dated, that's not really the point - I can only tell you that up close, my room was very clean and the sheets were fresh.

For the location and price point, I could not have asked for anything more.

This is our third visit to The Red House and won’t be our last. The owners are a wonderfully generous family and our children always enjoy playing with theirs. The rooms are comfortable and clean and there are countless little spaces to explore in the hotel like the arcade room, kids play room and library. Only a 20 minute walk, or 3 minute bus ride to the park entrance. There is a 7-11 close by and some nice restaurants. We’ll be back again on our next visit!

Great location for hiking at Seoraksan National Park , it was about 30min walk to the Park Entrance. The hotel owner were very friendly and warmly welcome me. The hotel hotel owner was very responsive to all my queries and tried to provide me with alternatives solution when i was trying to figure out on the hiking arrangement. It was very re-assuring. Top Notch service. The hotel rooms were Korean style room and it was properly cleaned. Bathing amenities towel and soap were provided. Simple meals such as Ramen can be ordered by informing the hotel and they will prepare.
