The location is perfect in the middle of old town, center of town and the beach. The terrace is also really nice to have, although it does look over the parking, still it’s cool to have large terrace.

2 things: The sound proofing is almost nonexistent. We could hear almost every word spoken from our neighbors, although the man had very loud voice, but still. Also, the glass door to bathroom in bad solution. Nobody needs to see and hear me on toilet, not even my wife.

We have just had a fabulous stay in this family run hotel. We stayed in room 3 which has a small balcony with a table and chairs and overlooks the castle and the square, perfect for an evening drink as the sun sets. Good size room, with small fridge to put your drinks in, safe available for 3€ per day, large bathroom and great shower. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and the decor was modern. The breakfast for €6 was basic, toast, juice and coffee but freshly prepared and we had enough to eat. We ate in the restaurant on one evening and had a good meal. We were able to park the car in the square in front of the hotel and were lucky to get a space and didn’t move it for 3 days, it was free until the 1st of June then it is pay and display. There is another large car park a few minutes walk from the hotel if you can’t find a space. Peniscola is a great place to stay and we spent a whole day around the castle and there are some good restaurants up there We would like to thank Paco, Juan and all the staff who were very friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble Would definitely recommend this hotel and would love to come back in the future

Absolutely brilliant location, close to shops, restaurants, old town, and beaches. Lovely restaurant downstairs with great food. Friendly staff, who let us check in early. Would definitely stay there again.

Difficult to find parking, but that’s not the hotels problem. If you have a car, you can actually drive right up to the hotel, and you may be lucky enough to find a park there. A little noisy from the street, but it didn’t last too long.

The small family run Boutique hotel makes for a very nice stay in Pensicola. Location was outstanding and we were able to park just out front for under 10 euro a day. Lots of restaurants and bars within 5 minute walk. Room was tight but very comfortable with a great shower and comfortable bed. Just steps to Castle Pensicola and the beautiful beach.

Owners son was not a pleasant person at all, very belligerent when asked about parking and about the hotel elevator not running properly. Told me “call Ottis (elevator company). If you are in your room you can’t come down by elevator in the morning until 9am as you need your key to activate and it doesn’t work. He really should not be in the hospitality industry! Mom and dad were lovely.

Right in the middle of the old town.Tiny balcony but a view of the castle.Peniscola is a lovely town great beach 5 km long.Not very busy as low season.Not sure what it will be like in peak season.Loys of small cobbled streets.You can easily get lost.Castle was closed from the 8th till the 21st of april still nice to walk around it.

Among the best travel experiences I had. And there’s a lot of them… Excellent! A 5* experience at a 2* accommodation is absolutely exceptional! Paco and his son are wonderful people, who could easily become my friends. Thanks so much for the short but great time at Barra Alta guys! I’ll be back soon!

Fantastic room and facility right in the old town near the Landmark castle and right next to the beach. Best location. Large room with a spacious bathroom. All the expected comforts were provided eg soap, shampoo, toothbrush etc and enough towels incl large bath sheets. Would gladly return

Situated in the vibe tourist area the late night noises from the nearby restaurants could bother some guests. The restaurant only opens after 09h00. Therefore a coffee station or at least a kettle would have been well appreciated.

We were so pleased with our stay. The location was perfect, with public pay parking nearby. The room was very comfortable with a King Sized bed and a wonderful shower.

It was fine. A little surprised that such a nice room would have paper cups instead of water glasses.

Clean, friendly, family run boutique hotel. Great location near the entrance to the castle and steps away from the beach and dining. Don’t miss out on the delicious breakfast, for only 6 euros, it’s great value.

The room only had paper cups to drink from. Easily solved by asking the reception for wine glasses.

Lovely small boutique hotel close to the castle, beach, shops and restaurants. As we were there in low season we were able to park for free in front of the hotel. The bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The decor was lovely, blues and white in keeping with being close to the sea.
